I bought my black Z71 about a year ago as well. Had the OTA battery issue only 1 time. We took it on a 3 week cross-country trip early in May and it did great but I have not put it through the punishment that you have…yet. Mostly due to time constraints. Love your weekly videos and it’s inspired me to do more upgrades and mods to mine. Keep it up. Peace

As you said, ZR2 would have definently be the way to go if you are doing serious offroading, but its cool that you are working with what you got and pushing the limits of the Z71.

My TB has had a couple of trips to the dealer. I dont like the dealer either... Turn signal malfuction that still arent fixed and the recalls. Im at 29k since May of 23. Overall its been a decent truck. Really enjoy watching the truck transformation over time! Keep the vidoes coming!!!

The ZR2 also has an upgraded frame, might've stopped that bed flex,. But with the hell you put your Z71 thru, it's doing a killer job!

Not true, the ZR2 and ZR1 frames strength wise are the same, in the back, the only difference is the rear shock types and mounting points.

@danm2768 @downtimelost There is a gmauthority article that specifically mentions a production delay of the ZR2 and AT4X for 2023 and that they needed to reinforce the beds afterwards. Going forward these trims will have the reinforcement done on the production line for 2024.

Looking good bro! FW the merch. From my experience with dealerships they have been good with me. The ONLY reason they will not fix something under warranty is if, the mod itself if broken. Or they have reason to believe the mod caused the issue. They are warrantying factory parts. Don’t be scared! lol, you have influence on the community!

I had a black 2022 ZR2 and then got a 2023 with desert sand paint. Doesn't look as dirty at all times now. That's a beautiful spot there.

I hear you with the fear of taking it in. Although my coolant no longer leaks, I received a bunch of dumb scratches (on the plastic under the hood) on my last visit to the dealer. I'm scared about them replacing my door panel next.

I think the both of you are silly. I wouldn’t let the dealership get away with anything. I would either have them take pictures of the condition of the vehicle before they take it in or you take the pictures yourself.

​@sammyjammy6647 I made them order a replacement radiator cover (plastic) that they scratched up. It's just cosmetic but it didn't need to happen. It also doesn't feel great when you spend over $50k on a vehicle and it gets all these little damages that didn't need to happen. I feel more confident in doing the door myself though.

I just bought a 2024 ZR2. I’ve been seeing this frame flex issue. I looked at my frame and looks like the 2024 frame area of the “crinkle” zone is beefed up by Chevy now. Doesn’t look the same at all compared to 2023

It's miserable hot. Went with a friend up Pine Flats to Senator Hwy to Prescott. At the best it was 72F but 100% humidity, then went up to 92F and 85% humidity, only come back home to 107F bleh

Not 100% you talked about it here (eating while watching) but if you talked about the dead battery problem it might be from shutting off your engine with the doors open. Was snowboarding in mammoth with my 2022 zr2 and noticed the screen didn’t completely turn off as we were about to go board. Restarted the engine with the doors closed and the screen turned off as it normally does. Wouldn’t have noticed it if it wasn’t for your dead battery vid!

What did create these cracks? Is it might be from the rack that you have on your bed and to much weight on it I am a bit surprised about that dent from the bed hitting the cabin, seems to be not enough space or to much bend? I also did not know that the Z71 has no front and back rear locker. Does your future wife also offer her skills for sale> So if someone is looking for a logo or something like that? Would you fit in the bed with a softshell? I actually have to test it when I get my Truck, I believe that I won't fit.

Z71 has only a rear locker and I believe the crack happened from the bed rack forsure! I won’t fit in the back completely flat cuz I’m 6foot 2 inches and my bed is only 5 foot so I will have to sleep sideways or in the fetal position lol my fiancé dose do that indeed !

My 2018 ZR2 took the flex dents on the cab too. I also broke the weld between the bed and the frame. They didn't know that when I traded it for the 2024 ZR2. 😁 I just hit my 3000 mile break in. Need to get the ceramic paint protection before I start hitting the trails.

Regarding the bed flex issues on second generation zr2s, the way to prevent this is to not carry so much weight outside of the bed: roof top tents, bed racks, camper shells...etc. The 3rd generation is going to have the same issues but worst because it is built cheaper...i am just being honest guys.

Best friend is also an engineering manager at the GM proving grounds will see what he can find out. Would be very surprised if the Gen 3 had a weaker frame and bed than the Gen 2 considering they knew from inception they would be offering bigger wheel and suspension package than the Gen 2.
