bought the wife a 23 Jeep GC Altitude black out edition with standard seating as there are only 3 of us. After four months we are averaging 21.9 mpg with the 3.6 V6. Looked at many makes and models but went with the rugged Jeep. Been very happy with it , zero issues at 8500 miles. Price was great, just under 50K with leather, sunroof, heated seats, all safety mitigation stuff, bigger black rims and fat tires give it a mean look.By the way Ben, your videos are the ones that pushed me toward the Jeep GC. Thanks!

👍 Great vid! But none of these vehicles are worth over $40,000 dollars. The market has gotten crazy!!! I don't care if it has 1000 horsepower. You still have to out gas in it & wait in traffic like everyone else. No. A vehicle is to get you from point A to point B, period. Traverse was definitely best value, Cherokee was the most handsome.

I liked all four of these SUV,s. Even though the Durango has the oldest design it has stood the test of time well. If I had to choose a favourite I would be hard pressed deciding between the Durango and the Grand Cherokee.

I have the Dodge Durango R/T with tow n go. Love the sound, love the power and the towing is just outright crazy for a mid size SUV. I don't think I would compare it with the Traverse. I think the problem with comparing with the traverse is that you can't really tow with it. Okay, maybe most buyers won't consider towing. But those who do think of towing will most likely look at the Tahoe instead.

I looked at all except the Fix Or Repair Daily. I bought a 23 Traverse LT and happy so far. Tons of room, super quiet, lots of power, shifts like butter, smooth riding, hauls my Fishing & Pontoon Boats like nothing. I can fit the entire cabin of the Durango in my Traverse and have room to spare. No fancy Computer Gauge cluster, just good old reliable analog gauges that don’t break. 98.2 cubic feet of storage with 2nd & 3rd row seats that fold flat like the floor of a minivan. I’m getting 27.4 mpg in FWD & 25.2 AWD. I got nothing to complain about. Looks great and get compliments on the new Sterling Gray Metallic Paint. Depending on light it changes colors. Love it. Out the door under 45k

Agree 100%. Out of the 4, the Traverse has the most options for a better price. I have a Traverse RS and it's been great. Everyone looks at the Durango for the looks, but past that it's lacking imo. I wish Chevy would have a more aggressive look to the Traverse and make it more competitive on that level. I bet sales would rise since it beats the others on price, features and space. Just needs the looks to make it noticeable to people.

Comparing drivetrain is just as important as comparing prices. You stopped at the engine. Some of those vehicles have proper two speed transfer cases, crawl gears, sophisticated four wheel traction systems. The price doesnt go up on the overland because of its interior, its that drivetrain thats been through thousands of hours of R&D, compressors, airbags, auto leveling components. Did you say how much these tow? Can they all tow boats or campers? That 60k jeep can tow a one ton HD diesel truck and climb a mountain. All chevy had to do with the traverse was make it getvaround a walmart parking lot okay and stick a common motor in it. Its cheaper because it was cheap for them to make.

I'd take the ancient Durango they're pretty damn reliable since not much has changed 😂 but the minor interior updates to me is good enough and don't have to worry about bringing in my vehicle for repairs driven plenty of them for long periods of time never had an issue besides gas mileage 😂

Ended up buying Grand Cherokke L . I like the truck alot . Only issue is without factory tow package max towing is 3500 no matter what trim . They dont disclose this anywhere and every dealer sight says 6200 lb max towing with 6 cyl . Not a deal breaker as i only use hitch for bike racks and small trailer , but if I want a bigger trailer im screwed

Thank you for the challenge Ben. How tall are you? I am just curious.... The gauge cluster on the Chevrolet Traverse does not shock me. The Ford Explorer was not far off. The Grand Cherokee is loaded indeed. It is interesting the Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee are so close to each other and differ in size. I like seeing the digital gauges. Expolorer is in it for the long haul. It has been in the game a long time like Cherokee. The GMC version will be larger with the redesign. Was it cold enough for you Ben?

I think that Durango is the most aggressive looking followed by the Grand Cherokee, but I love the interior of the Grand Cherokee much more, and actually prefer the Grand Cherokee look much more overall.

That traverse just look very sporty and great overall. That's my kind of bodystyle. Not too rectangle and flat . It just look sleek and nothing about, it says cheap or funky. As for the other suv, they're just OK. There's just too many weird and odd features that just doesn't look right. It just look funky and makes no sense. The traverse is the best bang for the bucks. You get the best of both world. As for the other 4 suv. They're just way too many funky and weird implementation of features that just didn't look or feels right. I don't want compromise features, I want all of it at a reasonable price. As for the other 4 suv they just didn't have all of what the traverse has. To me, it just feels like you got ripped off with mediocre features that looks funky.

I don’t understand why someone would buy a 3 row SUV if they need 3 rows, I know that sounds crazy. BUT my minivan is 3 row and has way more interior room then any of those 4 and isn’t much bigger exterior. Sliding doors that are easier to get into the 3rd row. But if I had to choose between those 4 I would get the Durango!

Minivans are actually the same height, width, and length as most of these 4. The minivan being the same height, but still lower to the ground, gives it that extra room, due the having "more body".

Yeah, but Minivans get absolutely wrecked in collision crashes. They're built on Sedan/Car platforms, whereas SUVs are built on Truck platforms. And SUVs in particular are better designed to protect occupants in crashes.

Probably the one with air ride. We test drove all of these except the geo metro minded traverse, and came away loving the Cherokee. It just feels like a proper vehicle. The Durango wasn't what we were looking for and the explorer really felt designed around a price point than something enjoyable. He's right, that explorer really should be a two row. That third row is crap.

The explorer should be a two row. As a three row vehicle it is terrible and a non starter. If you don't have the right design to allow for a decent third row, don't force it. Ford still has the expedition. They need to increase the proportions of that explorer. We test drove most three row SUVs and I rode in the third row because we were going to have real live family members back there. We didn't even leave the ford lot with the explorer. Unless you're only going to be in the driver's seat, there's much better than the explorer. The traverse just looked too minivan. Came down to Volvo vs jeep.

Out of the 4 the Chevy Traverse its the most spacious, specially in the 3rd row. I own a Chevy Traverse 2021 RS and i haven't got any issues, in gas its actually pretty good, drives very good but i do give the certified service that Chevrolet recommends some people might find that a little bit pricey. Interiors are beautiful, leather and red stitching, black out emblems, active sunroof for the front, fixed sunroof for the second and third plenty of charging ports, super reliable. Thats just my experience with the vehicle.

I have a Traverse RS as well and it's been great. I think it's underrated since it doesn't have the aggressive looks and big power. But if you just want a reliable 3 row suv with room, it's the best of the bunch. Only thing I wish is Chevy would make some nice mods for the Traverse or have the RS look more aggressive to compete with the Durango on that level.

Really appreciate and enjoy your videos. One thing I notice that’s a bit weird is when you note the tire specs, you always mention the back in some way. Considering I never heard of a vehicle with different tires vs front or rear. I don’t think it’s necessary to state they are the same. UNLESS you happen to come across something different.
