I found this overview to be helpful in comparing the different models in the lines. It was brief, but I got a good sense of the type of skier each version would be good for. I liked the delivery and balance of a touch of playfulness along with more solid info. Nice job!

I have both the ripstick 96 180 and the wingman cti 86 178. I’m 6,3” and 275 lbs. I prefer the wingman for the edge hold, carving and the rebound. That being said, most of my skiing is east coast hard pack which is what the wingman is designed for. I can’t say to much about the ripstick because I haven’t had it out enough yet. Today is 2-14-24 and if you would like to get a wingman cti, the 2022 model year is on sale at level9 for $338, it’s the same construction as the 2024. It’s a great ski. Thanks for this video, you guys did good.

I've been considering to get a new Ski for quite sometime. I read and watched a lot of ski reviews and I would say this video helped me a lot in decision-making. Thank you for the valuable insight! I'm now looking forward to seeing my new Elan Wildcat 82C.

I have wingman 82 cti two seson and its very good all day performace ski for groomers also afternoon when the slopes get nasty or snow ger softer... they love long or medium carv also in high speed have good stability. Highly recomended👍

Thanks for the good review, as a beginning/intermediate skier, I really want to know which ski can help with learning and mastering carving easier?
@thewirah1

Here are my impressions as an upper intermediate skier: the 82 CTI is a good ski for icy groomers and for carving. The Elan Ripstick 96 feels more playful, turns on a dime, but is not as good on ice, and gets a little squirrely at high speeds.

Agree, the Ripstick 96 does chatter at high speed.

Hi, I am trying to decide on a ski purchase this week...here are the contenders..Elan Wingman 86 CTI Fusion X, Volkl Deacon 84, Volkdo Kendo 88 and Elan Ripstick 88. I live in Pittsburgh but will have more skiing days in Colorado this year in January and March..total days out west 11..vs probably 5 at home. I am in mid 60's and have been skiing for 58 years...not as aggressive as in the past...mainly groomed slopes (east) and hopefully more powder west... real thoughts on what I should by...5'8 and 200lbs. Thanks

I am about to start my 2nd season of skiing as an adult. I got a pair of elan elements last season for $50 and I really like them. I’m considering upgrading and am considering either the wingman 78c or something like a ripstick 88. I ski in Idaho so we have a lot of snow. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations? My wife skis in a head total joy and I also really like that ski.

Ripstick is going to be better in situations where you have more snow, however the wingman will have more similarities to the ski you are on now. If you do upgrade, I recommend trying the 78Ti. It will give you much more ski to grow into

@@winteriscalling3063 thanks for answering!what is the real difference in feel between the C and Ti? I’m still not super confident so the softer ski definitely helps with that. I demo a lot at my ski hill and the heavier/ stiffer skis are just too much for me.
@winteriscalling3063
@winteriscalling3063 2 жыл бұрын
@@EvilEye1986 The Ti version introduces metal to the ski, where it will become stiffer. If you find that this is still too much for you to manage at this point in your experience, progressing on the Element that you own now may be the best course of action👍

@@winteriscalling3063 will find out in a few weeks when the season opens. No way to know until I try. Everyone out here is on ripsticks so it’s hard to find other elans to try.

One type of skiing that really isn't being talked about is moguls. What is a good ski for moguls and why (Length, tip, waist and tail)?

I see Elan Wildcat is marked as unisex in some online stores. Is it truly unisex?

Moving the boot center more forward on women’s skis is not new or unique to Elan. I worked in the ski industry for a long time and every manufacturer does this. Also some manufacturers like Nordica for example adjusts the ramp angle of the heel on system bindings on women’s skis to help provide a proper stance. K2 provides recommended boot center length from the tail for each size of men’s and women’s skis in there work shop manual.

Please keep the jokes to an absolute minimum. I think that what you did with the guy lying on the floor was funny, but please don't try to be comediens. You will probably suck at that otherwise you'd be doing it for a living. Great information delivered succinctly.. Thanks!
