I love my Elan 82Ti's on piste. They are intuitive, stable, and fast! Good carvers and damp and feel light. 10 cm of fresh power on the piste is not a problem. But they are not so good in deep powder, so I am looking for dedicated soft snow skis.
@SkiEssentials11 ай бұрын
Totally understand! If you like the Elan's I'd say look to the Ripstick series--maybe the 96 offers enough of the flotation you're looking for while keeping versatility in play. 106 is great, but then you're getting more into the soft-snow specific skis and limiting the well-roundedness a bit.
@roncannoles237710 ай бұрын
I've been looking at the Ripstick 96 & 106 along with the Fisher Ranger 102 and Salomon QST 98 & 106, so hard to decide with out trying them unfortunately have not been able to locate a shop or resort where I can. What would you recommend for a more dedicated soft snow ski? I live in Hokkaido Japan @@SkiEssentials

@@roncannoles2377 I tried the ripstick 96 this week. Excellent in the bumps and powder. Wingman 86 was also good but I wouldn't call it a powder ski.

I'm running with these ski's! Just bought em today and yup I'm totally confident in them to do EXACTLY what I want which is rip the steeps, groomers and fluff....Yessir that's what these are gonna do! I even ski the bush trails and these WILL be coming down those also! I do have a pair of older K2 AMP Rictors 2013 model and they are still solid ski's for all mountain fun and will still now be my go to ROCK skis (Eastern Canada ski bum here)..... Regardless I'm stoked to pickup my Wingman's as the local ski shop owner here nice old gent whom is always active on the hill can't recommend them enough for this type of mountain playing! Been skiing for 45 years and most of it at my local hill Searchmont Resort but have lived out West in the Vancouver Canada area for a time and did all resorts in around there also so I have a bounty of skiing types but for me...I'm always MOST happiest on this type of SKI....
@gkerk7 ай бұрын
Are they also good for intermediate skilevel? 😀
@RogerDiotte7 ай бұрын
@@gkerk Yes I'm more expert but without a doubt you'd easily be gliding and turning on these boards no problem yes. They're fun like all mountains still but fun also in the carve! Makes it subtle at turning and confident yes! I have a set of K2's All Mountains I've skied on for 6 years at least which are slightly wider and more flexible but I just needed more carve...now I got em as I can easily tell I'm dropping more into the turns! I still took the Elan's into many areas like in the trees, jumps, bush trails, fast skiing and they checked all the boxes easily! For a great price and bindings included...no brainer! Here's a little video I just made of em....the vid lol get's a little trippy though hehe....there's some shots of doing turns though and ripping downhill....kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIrdi55jereqetE

Every time I think I've got my new skis figured out, I watch another of your videos and back to square one. These skis sound perfect for someone looking for easy day on the frontside carvings Blues.

Ha! You are correct, the 82 Ti is a ton of fun and a very useful ski for frontside intermediate terrain!

I'm 5'9" and weigh 175, what length would you recommend for these for me?
@SkiEssentials6 ай бұрын
I'd say the 166 is the way to go based on your stats unless you prefer longer skis, in which case I don't think the 172 is going to be too long.

I'd go 165 in that ski. Have fun!

Great info! I’m between lvl 5-6, 186cm and 78kg. Doubting between the Elan Wingman 82ti and Fischer RC 78 GT. Also read here something about the Rossi 82 Basalt. Which one would you recommend, and at what length?
@SkiEssentials6 ай бұрын
If you're looking for something a bit lighter and more manageable, go with the Rossignol. The Wingman is the next level up and the Fischer is a pretty stout and sturdy ski that likes to stay planted on the snow. If you're in the middle zone for level, I'd recommend the same in the ski and go for the Wingman. I'd go with the 178 in this ski!

@@SkiEssentialsthank you! I used to ski on a pair of Rossignol Experience 84HD (2017/18). Do you know if the Elan would be a similar experience?
@justinbrunelle89977 ай бұрын
You guys/gals are the best! 178 or 184? I'm 6'2", 270lbs, cruise all-day mostly easy black and hard blues in Colorado (EPIC). My QSTs are fun on a bit of fresh but I want something more carve-oriented for groomed/hardpack days.

In you case I would go for the 178, I’m 6’5” and the 184 fits me perfectly so you should be good with the shorter option

I think the Wingman has the most upside here. Nice and crisp in the turns with good versatility.

What important differences do you see between the Elan wingman 82Ti and the Rossignol EXP 82 Basalt? Which are easier to drive? Which ones have more flex? Which would you recommend more for a skier with a skill level of 3-4/10?
@SkiEssentials9 ай бұрын
I'd say the Basalt is a better fit. The Elan is very precise and powerful and may hinder improvement. The Basalt is easy to turn, but still very confident. I'd lean that route based on your stats and application.
