Hi Kay - I love this video. Usually I’m not too interested in the trends because I know what looks good on me. But it was so reassuring to see these trends because I have all of them in my closet and pretty much wear that style always. I am older. I turn 75 on Sunday but I want to look put togetherAnd I feel good about myself if I keep my weight down and have something nice and comfortable to wear. So glad I didn't listen when we were told ballet flats were out! I'm 75, and I think I've had a pair of ballet flats in my wardrobe since my teen years (the French look of white jeans, Breton top and ballet flats was THE look back then). Good to know that the trends are things we probably already have in our closets! The only one that will take a little getting used to is the double denim - but never say never!

I love blazers, too. I’m hoping this spring will be the season when I find some linen or cotton blazers, either unlined or with breathable linings like cotton or rayon. I like to have lightweight blazers for summer, but plastic polyester linings ruin them. I’m hoping to start with a true-white one.

I think most of these trends are things I could end up owning over time since they are pretty timeless. The Ralph Lauren site has a patch jean that’s done really well, it’s done in a subtle way it’s called the Avery. ❤👖

Yes l am a denim on denim person. I wear it all the time. I am a real Canadian Girl, it is our tuxedo. [ha ha]. I like the idea of the zip in hoody. I have not seen or heard of them before.

I think the cropped slacks to me look like I’ve outgrown them. As a child, I had to wear my sisters clothes but she was a bit shorter than I. I hated to wear those pants because I truly looked hilarious in those short ones. No crops for me and I’m 78 and try to be trendy.

Loved your trends video. I really liked the lighter denim shirt with the darker wash for denim on denim. Remember when denim shoes were kind of a thing? I always liked the look of a denim shoe. Might be too much denim to add that into the outfit!😀 You look beautiful in everything you wear!

Kay, this is an AWESOME video! I like how you grouped the links under topics like "stripes" and "metallics". I wear a tough size (10 W) but based on your information was able to go to Zappos and find two styles in gold/champagne metallic to try. There were only 1 or 2 left in my size! I definitely wasn't thinking about sandals yet, and my size always is gone if I shop based on season. Thank you so much! I would like to ask for as many top basics as you can muster, particularly those that have two necklines, scoop and V-neck, in tanks. Are there any others besides the Talbots version? I just discovered them and they would really help my wardrobe come together as I transition post-retirement. Thanks, and have a great day!

I understand your comment about the ballet shoes being an investment, but my dear hubby who is a CPA considers shoes and wardrobes an expense! Having said that, we do buy the best we can afford because well made shoes and clothes need replacing fewer times compared to fast fashion. Thanks for making me 😂!

Any investment indeed does require expense. The only way you can invest in something is to spend money. That’s not to say that I think we all should invest in these or any other shoes. But I do believe in investing in a good wardrobe that will serve you well. That way you don’t have to buy new things all the time because you have a well curated wardrobe that really serves you and lasts.

I'm not crazy about the denim on denim, hoodie under a blazer, patch work jeans or the metallic shoes. I like the metallic sandals though. I love blazers and tank tops but not the hoodie underneath. I just bought a few stripped tee shirts before I knew they were on trend and I live them. They look great with a denim jacket. I never thought the day would come when I tucked in my shirts and wore a belt again but I'm loving it. Thanks for all the fun ideas you have inspired me to try!

As a retiree from the corporate world, I have owned so many blazers that feel like straight jackets! If I wore one now casually in my community I would be the only one (other than at church). I so love the look of a blazer though, and I like the hybrid cardigan blazers and the cardigan moto jackets. If something feels the most comfortable on the back of my chair, it needs to be replaced.

Besides blazers , there are variations of them , such as shorter jackets , & more casual fabrics , especially for Spring & in fresh , light colors .

Even when I was young and in spectacular shape I didn't wear a tank top alone!! Just not lady like enough for me!!! The dicky of a hoodie is a great idea for less bulk!! I love gold metallic!! I am a little iffy with denim on denim but I do like a stiped top under a denim jacket with lighter or darker jeans. Also like white or black denim with opposite black or white jeans and stiped top. Add a pop of color like red shoes or metallic shoes and so cute! I need to buy a new pair of metallic shoes not sure of style yet and metallic purse and get out the metallic ones I only ready have and am all set. Do not care for patch jeans so will not be doing that trend. Hope the real distressed jeans are on the way out. I see them on young girls around town and they look like bums. Not good look. Love, love blazers. Have so many from working and I still wear them even though have been retired for awhile now. They complete the look.
