The 2023 Ford Everest large SUV is a very popular 4WD, with the release of its second-generation model creating plenty of excitement thanks to its introduction of a turbo-diesel V6 engine option.
The 3.0-litre unit has 184kW of power and a whopping 600Nm of torque, putting it streets ahead of the rivalling Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner on paper, with that trio making do with four-cylinder grunt.
But in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Marcus Craft puts the Everest V6's Sport variant through its paces off-road, to see if it's more than just a set of impressive numbers. After all, a longer wheelbase than its predecessor doesn't bode well for its 4x4 abilities.
