Ordered Pajero Sport this spring and seems new facelifted models arriving, according to dealer photos. I think grille openings way too large and rads easily susceptible to damage in refreshed Pajero Sport. Mainly using paved roads but anyway would you recommend to add some additional protection? (in other words, will cooling be compromised when doing so?). Otherwise, afraid warranty will not cover cases when radiator gets damaged by stones or various road debris.

Nice review and good to see some proper offroading done on these as they come from the factory. No doubt most buyers would be quick to fit some ATs and would be great if they had that as an option (the Everest might?). Worth noting the MUX is also about 10k cheaper than the Everest in the real world given the permanent drive-away deal.

Its unfortunate the Isuzu MU-X does not have a 4WD system that works on standard sealed roads such as the Ford & Mitsu. The Pajero Sport might be getting old but it's still a great 4WD that can be used 100% of the time on all road surfaces. The Ford is great too but is it really worth the extra $10-15K?

I have never once wished I had 4wd mode for the road in the MUX. Towing a 3 tonne caravan, not towing, raining, none of it ever required an extra 2 driven wheels. @Dvladvocate
@Dvladvocate Ай бұрын
Compared to pretty much every new suv it's one of the lowest tech more hands 4wd's on sale in the world. It's a barebones no fuss 4wd. They will easily make 500k on a engine without a fuss. Sure if you have more money buy better or if you need less space buy a pajero sport etc. But for someone who needed 7 seats as we have 6 in the family it was the biggest, most reliable and capable 4wd under 60k. It can tow a van up north, a car trailer loaded or 4wd landcruiser park or take a nice road trip

@@351tgvLol. Even the lexus lx and landcruiser 80 , 100,200,300 all have a wheelbase of 4850mm something that toyota calls golden ratio. Nissan patrol is bigger but has a higher ground clearance so much so that you can literally put a 33.9 inch tyre on a stock patrol without any lift. Silly to compare everest with patrol. The top spec everest with bigger tyres can do extremely good. But not a stock one for sure. Interestingly the stock patrol has a ground clearance of 270 mm.

Isuzu has stayed true to its roots. Not trying to move to the luxury side and sticking with its original workhorse purpose. I think that's what makes it one of the best. I own a 2019 2.5l D-Max and I will say it is the best car I've owned by far. Reliable and honestly a great offroad performer. Suspension is not the most comfortable on the road but offroad is where it excels.

The slow and low sound of the MU-X will make you buy it. (Ground clereance, price, raliavility and economy are secondary plusses) Then you wife will take it because is great. Then your son will borrow it to go to wilderness, then your neighbour will buy it too. It is infectious. Been there done that.

I find it interesting how most of these car review experts, just review the cars and give opinon based on how they drive, look etc. Based on that, they influence or persuade people on what cars they should buy. Never mention or include about the after sale customer support, reliability, and how prolific some car manufactures/dealers are, with throwing customers under the bus with legitimate claims. Not naming names frd, iszy, nssn😂. That should also be included!!!

How hard were you pushing the Everest to get 20.4L fuel consumption? Seriously there is a massive error going on with your driving style to get that high fuel consumption when everyone else who hs done 4x4 low range testing is showing around 12L per 100km. Did you leave it locked in 1st gear only? you claim to be a driver that wants to take control ... I call BS on that Marcus, clearly you did not take control of the manual mode transmission option.

Strange in some ways as have the same engine base in my 2015 D4 with the ZF8 speed and it has been very economical over 7 years at around 11l/100K overall. Maybe its tuned in a way that any off-road use spikes it dramatically.

Nothing against the Mitsi, in fact for the price I'm pretty sure I'd pick it over the Isuzu and Ford, well, no chance I'd fork out $80k for a Ford. However I don't recommend mentioning race cars when discussing their road variants. Dakar Mitsi's are simply a road car shaped body on a different platform which can't be purchased = no relevance to what you can buy in a dealership. Cheers

I had the 1st Gen Everest with the good ol 3.2L 5cyl and 6-speed torque converter auto way back some 7 years ago and also had a Pajero Sport 2.4L i4 with 8-speed torque converter at the same time and I can tell you this much from what I recall the Everest was the better of the two at highway cruising loaded up, the Pajero Sport had to be in essentially AWD mode to get anywhere near it, that said for fuel consumption the Pajero Sport was ahead by about 2L per 100km however with a smaller fuel tank (68L v 80L) the Everest had more range so it ws pretty much equal save for the added fuel cost f going to full tank.
