Just a simple man I am. Seeing and hearing an idling well maintained Gold Wing, with not a word spoken is very pleasing. Good info. Overlapping or additional to Cruiseman’s oil change video is helpful in the grand scheme of things. Including a reminder to responsibly/properly dispose of used oil. I’d email Max about what you found. He might consider (or not) including a small bottle of Blue 242 Loctite. He might be hearing this elsewhere. If anything it might inspire a video from him. Nice job Robert. Thank you.

Great job Robert, it's good to see someone else forget to put the gloves on after getting up to do something else they forgot to do LOL. CM's videos are invaluable when working on the bike. The difference with the crush washers is that the old ones were less expensive than the new ones. I save the old ones in case I need them later when I forgot to get them or I may need them on a different project. I was taught to always fill the new filter with oil, if possible, before installing it. It helps to prevent a [ dry start ]. The motor oil geek, on youtube, did a very in-depth experiment on this and proved it's the best way. If someone complains, you're putting unfiltered oil in your engine, Really new oil that needs to be filtered, buy a better IOL.. Did I see snow? We got 11.5 ins last weekend and 5 more Friday, that's more than the last 3 years, but no problem, I am sitting inside with a cup of coffee watching my wife plow the 140-yard driveway, with her ATV and blade. God love her, I think she is a keeper. Be safe

Kidi, first, thank you for watching and supporting !! Second, that filling the new filter with oil thing hit me 3 seconds after starting the engine dry... I will next time. Remind me where you are in the world... plowing snow narrows it down some :) Yeah we got about 4-6 inches which over the course of a day or two melted off the road ways. Our big problem here is that melt creates black ice overnight. My Bronco handled it like a champ. oh, and I think many of us married up. God Bless!

I keep my empty oil bottles, so I have someplace to put the old oil in when I forget to get rid of it at the car parts store. Unfortunately, I have more brian-farts than I care to admit Yes storing or keeping the old containers, takes room, but in my situation I am lucky to have a 30 x 48 poll barn, I got to put something in it, the finance comity won't let me buy any more toys until the economy gets better. I've lost 1 of the bolts each time I've changed my oil. I think it's because it's such a large flat surface, and as you torque them, the belly pan flexes a little bit, then with heat and vibration, the pan flattens out again changing the torque on the bolts. I now retorque them after~20 miles. Great idea on the expanded metal screen. I always prefill my oil filter before I install the filter on the engine. Saving the time the engine takes to pump oil into the filter and fill it.

@robertwhitemoto I bought a low profile oil pan at Harbor Freight. never noticed that the fill hole was just that with no screen in the bottom of the opening. Robert those belly pan bolt allen heads strip out fairly easy if overtightened, not the threads but the head itself where the allen wrench goes, these little bolts are relatively soft and round off and if you use lock tight that might just cause those allen heads to round off as well, it happened to me on my 2021 and had a hell of a time getting one out, all you have to do is check them once in a while and carry extras always, I found replacements at Ace Hardware very cheap and I now have 10 in my trunk, also after draining oil completely, I put in exactly 4/9 quarts and it's always perfect....Javi G.

Well it seems everyone else wants to throw in there 2 cents worth why not me. I just did my first DCT oil change using Cruisemans video and have a couple of observations. First I’ve only lost 1 screw on my TD engine guard. (Max doesn’t like calling them belly pans) I’ve had a bigger problem with those little screws stripping if you’re not careful. Another weird thing is I did Cruisemans side stand / center stand oil drain test only backwards. I drained the oil first on the side stand and the put it on the center stand after loosely replacing the drain plugs. I then went inside for lunch. When I returned I pulled the plugs again and got out about the same amount of oil Chris did when he did it on the side stand. I don’t pretend to understand it just thought it was strange.

Great video, Robert. A couple of observations, unscrew the dipstick and oil fill cap prior to draining oil... help with flow. Secondly, checking oil with bike on center stand or hold straight up makes very little difference on measurements. Also, as someone else already mentioned, filling up the oil filter before installing it prevent dry start, not that it will make a huge difference, but still. Finally, when installing the oil filter, I wouldn't use the wrench until the filter is screwed all the way up and seated. Alway start by hand as not to cross thread it. Once the filter o-ring touches the engine, a quarter turn is all that's needed. I've never had a leak on any of my bikes nor cars with this procedure. It'll be tight enough for no leak, and easy to remove next time you change your oil.
@robertwhitemoto6 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words and for watching and supporting the channel. Great point on the dipstick and oil filler cap, that never occurred to me, I will next time! I should have filled the oil filter, I've seen that done before. That too, I will do next time. You didn't see it in the video but I did start the oil filter install by hand until I couldn't really get a good grip on it anymore, at that point I put the wrench on it to finish the job. I am so very grateful for all the good comments on these videos... I too, am learning. God Bless !!

Jon I have not done the ECU Flash and therefore my DCT is stock. I have had absolutely zero issues with slow speed maneuvering because you learn to expect when it will downshift. But the real story here is that you will adapt, and it won't be a problem. Thanks for watching !!

Lots of comments and opinions. Here’s one more. You are very cautious to change oil early, and careful to empty all the used oil by using kick stand instead of center stand. Because of this I assume you want to rid engine of contamination that accumulates in oil. So, why would you stop short of changing DCT filter as well. I know the schedule says every other, but you’re changing oil early to be cautious. I might be hesitant to use locktite on the engine guard bolts. They would be difficult to remove if you disfigure bolts.
