The QX80 is getting very old. It has had some minor refreshes, but the platform has been the same for over a decade. How does it hold up to newer competition?

perfect vehicle for the Midle East where fuel is cheaper than water. The only other thing i don't like is the break light being in the rear bumper.

They are about the same if you maintain them properly. I have a 2006 Infiniti Q56 with of 430K miles and still runs great and looks good. We also have a 2020 Lexus LX and it is nice and just have a better suspension than the Infiniti.

It drives and built way better than GM and Ford SUVs, doesn't make weird noise from the cabin at all. The cabin is also quite, costs less to own and maintain. Don't know why its so underrated.

I'm not saying the QX80 is a bad vehicle by any means, but in my opinion the GM SUVs with the magnetic ride control shocks ride and handle better on road, have more power and torque (6.2 V8) and get better fuel mileage from the 6.2 V8. I still really like the QX80 and it has a different character from the others that still makes it a joy to drive.

The infotainment system is wayyyyyyy out dated, interior design look cheap as hell, Nissan needs to keep up with the joneses..newer suv in the same price range has screens , n more options, digital dash, etc it look just like the armada on the inside, air vent look cheap, especially 4 what they call luxury..it needs a refresh bad, like how general motors change the interior of the gmc n silverado, this suv needs it

I personally think GM vehicles are way better. The tech is extremely outdated, I do not like the infotainment screen in the front. Lack of massage doors, no panoramic roof. No doubt Japanese vehicles have long longevity but the cost is way to high for what the vehicle lacks.

That’s the reason I bought a 2020 QX80 over the domestics.

I have one of these and an old Sequioa. The QX80 is the worst vehicle fuel wise I have ever owned when me driving is mostly in town. However it is quite respectful when out on the highway. Kind of the opposite of the Sequioa which is decent in town and awful on the highway.
@japerezo75

The Armada + QX80 combo number of units sold beats the Land Cruiser + LX + Sequoia by a factor of 1.5. This might change with the new Sequoia so Nissan & Infinity better update their offerings.

Had to look it up, when I reached out to a few media sites regarding the QX80, one of them said they didn't need coverage because it's not a big player. Thanks for letting me know!

Compare to GM's magnatic shock, Does HBMC control the pose of the car better or worse?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
Great question! I'd say the magnetic shocks are better just about everywhere. The one exception is wheel travel, where HBMC probably does a little better. I haven't had the two vehicles side by side to compare, so that's just going off memory.

I just picked mine up my liquid platinum ( looks chaulky sometimes) qx80 sensory 4wd- coming from a grey 2017 armada platinum 4wd. Currently getting a ceramic coating- my prelim is man that screen is big and i agree should be angled toward the driver by a few degrees- the sound system is not that great- i was listening to some tool and it was just meh. I like the number of presets- can finally find something either on fm or xm. Enjoyed ur review and ur 4wd one- thanks-. The infiniti may be outdated, but it isnt outmatched. I went cheap vs lexus, denali or navigator- now im trying to find a good dealer warranty nationwide but not having much luck

I agree about the end users- i almost went with the denali- but the dealers were not coming off msrp im in houston- the infiniti qx80 has a great deal if u are a good negotiator- this deal took me 5 months on back and forth- they said my trade was killing the deal- so i sold it to carmax and then ask for way more off the new car- and bc they had a ton of them and their inventory was icnreasing weekly- they finally acquiesced- msrp 90360, i paid 84000 and had them thro in 3 row all weather mats- no other dealer adds. It was a very simple deal at that point. I wish it were AWD- the 4WD can get weird when slow and turning. And the tires, while very expensive from discount tire, and not that great- i had these brodgestones on my armada and only last 19K miles and neither nissan or bridgestone would warranty them after cupping , uneven wear - despite yearly alignments.

Hi Adam , so what do u think about Armada 4WD Im living in middle east and here we got nissan Patrol Y62 which has more options for off roading but I was thinking to import a nissan Armada bcz its much cheaper and has less mileage compared to here what is your opinion?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 9 ай бұрын
That's funny because I'm considering importing a Y-61 from the middle east. It'll probably be a year or two before I have the money to do it, but still something I'm considering.

The QX80 is old school compared to its competitors. That's good, neutral, and bad: + V8 +- gauges - regular sunroof

that truck is final assembled in los angeles? thers a assembly plant in LA???
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
My guess is that it's very basic. As far as I know it's really made in Japan and then shipped over missing enough components that they don't have to pay the high tariffs. Those components are added in the LA area as the "final assembly".

HBMC will be a problem after 100k miles. Very expensive to repair. I would rather without it if you want to keep the car for long run. I had the top line and had to sell it because of this problem.

@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer the Yukon Denali to the QX80, but that isn't to say the QX80 is a bad choice. They are both great vehicles, but the magnetic ride control on the Yukon makes the vehicle feel more planted without being harsh.
