One thing you need to realize is that motor has basically been the same since the 1190.. they didn’t get the extra displacement from bore.. they got it from stroke.. anyone that knows anything about engines knows when you stroke an engine you inherently take away some of its ability to rev in favor of bottom end power.. v twins are already as it is leaned way over to the bottom end power side of the spectrum over top end power.. saying ktm should’ve given that bike more rpm is asking allot.. especially considering how it’s already the most powerful twin being sold today since the 1299 Ducati isn’t being made anymore.. if you want more top end you should’ve bought a zh2 or a sfv4

I understand, I'm not asking for 16k RPMs. All I was trying to say was I'm still getting use to that 10.5k limit and it just feels like the bike has more room for a little bit more RPMs. I understand it's not going to be inline 4 RPMs, just feels like it wants to keep going. I love the power, it's a blast.

Also have the same bike, different color scheme. I replaced the gas cap with the KTM power sports track one. To hell with fiddling with that thing. I couldn't get it open for like 15 minutes at the gas station. Not too worried about anyone messing with my gas cap, have a high setting on my monimoto alarm.

Yeah the gas cap is a pain. Just have to find the right spot to push down to get it to go in.

I agree with you. If your gonna spend 20 000 plus to get that bike you might as well spend that extra 1000 and get the full tech pack. That 1000 won't make a difference when you spending 20,000 already so you might as well add it in there✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾

I just found your channel and I have subscribed I also just bought a KTM super duke r evo and I agree about the rpms completely, at first I didn't like the idea of a keyless gas tank but I think it would be a pain in the butt to carry a key just for gas but I am worried about the day I get an electric prob and can't put gas in lol I have a z900 and a cbr 600rr and this bike is such a blast to ride looking forward to more beast content! I did get the tech pac and while it did piss me off a little to pay and extra 800 I am having fun with all the settings,

Appreciate the sub! Yeah the gas cap still gives me problems today, it's just a pain to get closed once you put gas back in. Yeah I gotta take the bike in for service and think I'm going to do the tech pack.

I'm pretty sure KTM knows what they are doing with RPM allowance for an LC8. As a 1290 SAR owner myself, word of advice, don't go chasing a tune that drastically increases RPM. Enjoy that SDR evo for all its low-end grunt.

I did love my z900, I loved how I sat in the bike instead of top of the bike, but the power from the Duke just makes me feel like I'm riding a supermoto on steroids.

How do you find the comfort for long distance? Been wanting to buy one of these forever but havent been able to do a test ride. Ive only just sat on the various gens. Also would you say 5' 11" is good enough for rider height as you said the bike isnt great for people under 6'? @ride n tell

So I've ridden a good amount of bikes. After my back injury, I struggled to find a bike I could ride long enough without feeling pain in certain areas. Usually less than an hour. I've ridden this bike for 2-3 hours and still feel like I could keep going. It's pretty comfortable in my opinion. I think the seat is super nice for being stock. I couldn't say what it would be like to do like a 6 hour plus ride, but I think you'd be happy. Regarding the height, like I said, I'm 6'2. I can flat foot with a slight bend in the knee. I think under 6' you might be tip toeing a little bit without a lowering kit.

I have the 2022 model, it's one awesome bike! The torque it's amazing and the feel of it cannot be reproduce by an I4. For the "lack of RPM": get it tuned either with the akra map (if u plan to de-kat) or custom tune, the bike can take 12k rpm without problem (the akra extends the redline from 10k to 11k), how do I know? again, i have one and I've done... some work xD Also if u can, buy the tech pack, it completely changes the bike and allows you to actually free the bike from every limit it has

Yeah that's what I've heard. As much as I don't want to pay for the pack, I hear the track pack changes the bike for sure

Yup, if you want the features, Tech Pack. Gives you track pack, quickshifter, MSR, Suspension Pro. KTM dealer has to do the download.

You think over 20k msrp is expensive? This bike costs over 30k usd brand new in my country because of high taxes. :( You don't even want to know how expensive the new 1390 is here :D

Why do you keep over revving on the up shifts? You pull the clutch before you stop accelerating. It sounds awful. It's bad for the bike too. Clean it up dude. Doesn't it have a quick shifter anyway? You don't even need the clutch on the shifts .

Comes with a quickshifter but it's not enabled from the factory. You have to pay for the download to unlock Quickshifter.

Making customers pay extra for a few downloads to unlock the bike is the reason enough for me not to buy one😂 like come on Rider community should have boycott them together we are strong lol Harley has been doing that for years in the ways Mine is fully built. I will probably not buy another one though
