Extra Throttle House

Жыл бұрын

The 2023 Land Rover Defender 130 First Edition ($100,850 starting in Canada, $84,700 starting in the US) is the first Defender to have 8 seats. To accommodate the extra passengers, it has been extended by 340 mm, and comes with heated third-row rear seats. Powered by the 3.0 L turbocharged inline six engine named the P400, the Defender 130 First Edition makes 395 horsepower and 406 lb ft of torque. Thomas and James share their thoughts on how this 8 seater Defender fits into the Land Rover lineup, and how it compares to its competition. We hope you enjoy the episode. Subscribe!!
Thank you to Jaguar Land Rover Metro West for lending us their Defender 130 www.landrovermetrowest.ca

130 is for posh family ski trips. That is the perfect use case- good in snowy bad conditions, uber comfortable, and able to haul the whole family.
@pistonburner6448
@pistonburner6448 Жыл бұрын
No, posh families don't cram into a car for many hours. Anyone sensible will simply fly to the ski resort and then pay to be driven by a taxi or other car service for the one dozen times you even need a car. That doesn't cost much. Or then you simply get accommodation in a good location so you don't need to drive to the ski lift.

I just think it looks so ungainly and portly because of that extended back end. The original Defender 130’s extra length looked nowhere near as tacked on because LR stretched the wheelbase to match. The new one still shares the same wheelbase as the 110.
@rovert94
@rovert94 Жыл бұрын
For offroad-ability, I wonder what makes a bigger difference, extending the wheelbase, or tacking it on the back-end. I am willing to bet the longer wheelbase is worse for offroading.

This generation of Defender is really a LR4 Discovery replacement. The LR5 Disco was softened up and the Defender replaced the hole the LR4 left while also being a spiritual replacement to the original Defender.

Well my ram laramie in poland costs over CA$160k though official distribution while I paid $62k for it in Canada. Why? Because over 60% of the price is made by taxes, customs and environmental fees. Anything that is above 4 cylinder 2.0L in Europe is taxed over 50% and that is wrong and needs to stop. But yet, people still vote for the same idiots telling you what to drive while they fly private jets and drive V8s in convoys.

2 guys can't figure out, that there are families with more then 4-5 members. And yes some of them do really go to off/softroad adventures and roadtrips. Some even live in places where 4x4 is recommended. Not all big families don't want to drive around in van's. I love the open bolts. Everyone who ever needed to take off any panels in cars love them. F'ck the plastic clips that break every time. Give me me those beautiful bolts every time. Even more..like in Ineos, where even buttons have bolts. Perfect! Only 2 bad things about Defender are price and (engine) reliability. 4 and 6 cylinder engines still have way too high failure rate and JLR/Tata has not addressed this problem from D3, D4 till the newest models.
