After your gruff declaration of love for a friend i'm touched, to the extent i feel as if i have sand in my eye. Good for you Doug, this world needs a bit more love. For example, i love that sand acrylic. I'm still waiting on the MZG in stardust. I was daft enough to wait until Black Friday to order. My copy of this pen is fascinating with the resin that is very different from the stacked resin of celluloid. There is so much going on with this pen. I purchased mine with an elastic steel nib. The pen is beautiful and works very well once I got the tool to add silicone grease to the piston. I did not realize that the Sand resin was available not as a Grande version. Great story about Ron. You're a good friend! And happy birthday to Ron! I wasn't aware that you could get a pen with an architect grind. I always assumed you had to get it custom made. I've been wanting to try an architect grind for about a year now. The only downside is I don't really like the look of the pen. Sure it's beautiful, but I like something a bit cleaner...like Japanese pens. I remember you remarking how the Lamy 2000 isn't your cup of tea, but for everything you dislike about that pen I love! I might have to get that Leonardo just for the nib, though. Great video as always!

I have the "Grande" version of this pen (a piston filler) and it's one of my favorites to look at and write with. I found J. Herbin "Cocao du Bresil" to be a perfect pairing with this exquisite resin. Cheers! Happy Birthday to Ron, too!

I think you should give Ron the X450 as a free Charlie pen gift. Maybe with an architect grind also, just so he can compare the two. The decoration on the Visconti nib is a little understated. I like lots of swirlies.

I could have swore Taccia was an Italian brand and company. Had NO idea it was a Japanese company. Couldn’t agree more about how comfortable the Momento Zero is. I bought one because of how much you recommended and enjoyed it and I fell instantly in love with it. It instantly became my favorite pen. I hope to get a Grande model one day. I just received my first Diplomat Aero in the mail today. I’ve seen so many good things about that pen too. The cap is pretty sweet. I never pulled the trigger on it cause 180-200 is too much for me, for an aluminum cartridge converter pen with a steel nib but I nabbed a brand new gift set with the Aero, a matching diplomat ink, and a lovely leather pen case for 139 bucks. Couldn’t beat it. That sands acrylic is absolutely stunning. Knowing how beautiful my blue Hawaii is in person and how much the camera causes the chatoyance and beauty to dull I can only imagine how beautiful that sands must be in person. You’re very lucky to have a friend like Ron and likewise him to have a friend like you. Many blessings to you both. And happy birthday Ron!!

I just received a Leonardo Magico with an architect nib. I know at a steep angle feedback is expected. But I was wondering if you experienced scratchiness at a steep angle. I try to keep my angle at 45 degrees or less.

I don't own this pen - it is Ron's. But he hasn't complained at all. Architects will naturally have more feedback and scratch at high angles.

dear Sir.. forget resins colors etc. and get yourself an Aurora 88, Optima or Talentum - the latter if you don't need piston reservoir -. They share the same feed and nibs. That's Italian perfection in writing instruments and Aurora produces its own nibs in house. Anyway they produce a lot of special versions with colored resins but they are dramatically expensive.
