If you are worried if you are going to lose races then buy a different car. I would honestly buy it but I’m waiting for the integra type s as a car to buy this year. Hopefully if they still sell this car in 2 years I’ll try and get it. I think if this had an Audi or BMW badge on it people wouldn’t question if it’s a good buy or not.

See the thing is with people who make excuses for outdated Lexus products is that you have a low bar. You'll accept anything because it's reliable and that is just sad to me at this point when other Lexus vehicles have been updated and are far more modern. This car did have a Audi and/or BMW badge on it, about 15 years ago when they offered V8s in this class. This is a tired old car propped up by a good sounding V8 and all you all can come up with is that it will last a long time while it gets smoked by the competition. This V8 would be great in a NEW IS with a proper transmission, interior and a chassis that could fully exploit the power of this V8, but no you're telling me how long the car will last. It's dismal.

It is $20K less than an M3 because it competes with m340i. It should be compared to the m340i. Not the M3. It is an F-Sport. I have an F-Sport and an RCF. Huge difference between the two cars. It is essentially an IS350 F-Sport with the RCF engine and a detuned version of the 8 speed transmission. The suspension, chassis, tires, wheels, brakes etc. are more or less close or the same to an IS350 F-Sport. Only the RCF and RCF Track Edition competes with the M3/M3 due to the suspension, chassis, brakes, cooling systems, seats etc.

In my opinion, if you’re the type of person to turn in their car every 3 or 4 years, this car won’t make sense to you financially. But if you’re the type (like me) to fix them and keep them for decades at a time this car is perfect! It’s certainly not a track car or an M3 competitor and it doesn’t have the most advanced tech and I’m okay with that. But you’re paying for the V8 power (if you know how to unlock it), the longevity and a little bit of nostalgia.

A mis leading headline. Closer in price to the IS 500 is the BMW M340i, not the M3. In AWD it kicks the Lexus's butt and is about the same if not less in price. Way better gas milage and handling too.

@@abhisheknauduri7013 I love mine. I have the 2020 right before the redesign. Unfortunately the redesign has different trim levels. In order to get the limited slip differential and adjustable dampers you have to opt for the handling package. That will cost some extra dough like 5k. For the money I’d get the IS 350 over the 340i. If you can afford the Beamer then I would get that. It’s a beast!

The transmission will really bang off the shifts once it is fully warmed up. It looked like the oil temp was still a little low when you set off - typically I'd say it needs at least 10 minutes of driving to get the best performance from the transmission. And obviously in normal/Sport S it will be smooth unless you're giving it the beans.

$66k isn't bad but for that money you can get a 2023 BMW M340 LCI with a much more updated look and quicker 0-60 time. The BMW M340 LCI starts at $59k and will have more options at $66k plus the AWD option as well. I'd have to go BMW compared to the Lexus.

I traded my M340i in a few months ago for a 540i (wanted something a little more comfy), and I regret it almost every day. The M340i (mine was xdrive also) was just one of the most amazing "jack of all trades" vehicles I've ever driven. Didn't get a chance to test drive the Lexus, but due to it being on a 10 year old platform with some pretty dated tech was almost a big enough turn off for me anyway. Hope you love whatever you end up with!

I miss Lexus' 5.0L N/A V8. It's such an amazing engine that is sadly not available anymore, but it is an absolute screamer and who doesn't love a V8? Plus the looks, design, interior, Lexus is still the best Japanese luxury brand for me. And that F Sport gauge display is still one of the best gauge displays on the market today. So unique. And Lexus has one thing going for it that I think most people should not ignore: RELIABILITY. Lexus is literally the textbook definition of reliability, and this V8 is an engine that'll last for years. People don't take that into consideration while buying a luxury sedan and just want the name on it. Well, Lexus to me should be near the top because not only do their cars look great, they have great interiors as well, but reliability is their #1 feature that the Europeans cannot do well. There's a reason why Lexus vehicles will hold their value well, is that they are tanks.

I feel like I'm the outlier here, but the reason this car is so much cheaper than an M3 or RS4 is because it doesn't compete with those. This car competes with the M340i or S4. If you look at the power on paper, this looks like an M3 competitor, but if you line them up, an M3 or RS4 will waste this car. The M340i is also actually faster than this car, has better tech, and gets better gas mileage, believe it or not. HOWEVER, I love the NA V8. It's a dying breed of engine. God Bless Lexus for keeping it alive.

Lexus is more distinctive and compelling than German rivals in some cases - this is an example. Furthermore, everyone touts bmw as this performance machine and the vast majority of them run 2.0L 4 bangers with barely over 250hp. Not really the speed demons they are preached to be from experience. The 3.5L n/a 300+hp lexus IS is not fast either, but has more compelling styling, sound and powertrain in my opinion with better pricing.

Oversteer is the right amount for you to be heavy on the throttle around the track throughout corners unlike the understeering xDrive M340i. Technology wise, what is there in the M340i that the IS500 is lacking? Mention one! Since you're all about Mustangs, you can think of the IS500 as a luxury 5.0... It's already sold out everywhere in all dealerships and the waiting lists are in the hundreds. How is it failing?

@@yousef.al-assaf You can get xdrive on the M340i, no AWD option for the IS500, The M340i beats it around a track, so feel means nothing. The interior is outdated and it's SLOW for a V8.

I'm evidently the only person that feels the LC is the worst sounding of all the 2UR cars. They made it so raspy, and the backpressure sound as the revs are falling it makes is just gross.

The car is actually flying off the lots. The market is slowing down some, but as soon as one comes in, it is snatched up. Only 931 made in 2022 and 1733 so far in 2023 between the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Comparing apples to oranges. Lexus is more comfort oriented. BMW is like a dog with a biting problem. The interior in the IS is also so old. It needs an update.
