The front of the IS500 has two brake cooling ducts, and two air curtains, or what you guys called "fake vents". Get closer next time, or have your vision checked. And stop saying "ummm" so much!

We try not to address this (usually), and here's why: these are new cars. Maybe that V8 is just a giant grenade, or has some sort of Achilles' Heel later. Or maybe BMW makes the most reliable car it ever made, we just don't have the crystal ball to say what's gonna happen

re: 8:03 ... It's not a flat-plane rumble you are talking about; it's cross-plane. Also, seems like you never finished your thought on why the LC and IS 500 sound different, but I can. The LC has a sound tube that directs some induction sound at the cabin, and, on top of that, it has a louder exhaust system. The IS 500, on the other hand, has an adaptive airbox that opens up a flap at about 2800 RPM to let in more air and release more sound. The IS also has ASC, which means "Active Sound Control", or digitally-enhanced engine noise inside the car. You can turn that digital stuff off, thankfully.

Thank you thank you someone who finally compare this car in the class that's its supposed to be compared in..everyone throw this car in with the m3 and the amg 63 etc its not in those class and when they do that they say it's slow and say all the negative comments they can throw in there which is just not right ..compare the car with the cars that it is made to be competitive with.

The nice thing about that car is you can open up the exhaust with Armytrix and give it a huge sound improvement.

Yes, it sure does! I only mentioned AWD because both Audi and BMW have AWD options at the price point.

It's a beautiful car. If only Lexus had made it slightly bigger to give it a little more cabin space-especially the footwell of the front seats-and tuned the engine and gear box to make it more responsive, then I would have chosen this car. The brakes are also a bit mushy. It's so close to being a great sports sedan that could rival BMW and Audi. Too bad.

That 8 speed transmission is a big mistake and likely to break down. A 5 speed would have been perfect.

My a$$. The IS500 walks any MX40i from a roll, 30 MPH+. Also it handles better, especially compared to the xDrive variants.

The M340i may be quicker on paper, but like, come on. This has a naturally-aspirated V-8, and a GOOD one, too. It is high-revving, yet smooth and responsive at lower RPMs. The overall experience of driving this car is going to be far smoother and less gimmicky than the BMW. Not to mention that the Lexus actually has physical controls for almost everything, unlike the Bimmer.

BMW aka Break My Wallet might have more tech advancements and be faster on paper but cannot and will never compare to the quality, reliability, and performance of the 2UR-GSE 5.0L V8 motor.

bug car can't keep with up b58. Tested both and took them to technical roads out here in OC, and the handling was much better on M340i.

Is500 suspension is not performance focused. Japanese tuning has always been about “aftermarket choices” which make it unique . If u want a stock car that handles stock and sounds like a vacuum just lease a M340i built in Mexico .
