It is so sad the fact that Lexus will discontinue the LS. Lexus LS is for sure the most iconic Lexus and for sure the best ever. LS describe Lexus very well. Such as sophistication, comfort, luxury and discreet. And they literally are just going to discontinue the LS like if it is nothing for them. Lexus discontinuing the LS would be like the same logic as Apple discontinuing the Iphone.

Yeah, it would be strange to kill it off completely. I haven't seen anything official from Lexus, so I'm holding out until then, but the writing is on the wall. Maybe they'll end up dropping the ICE and keeping the hybrid, but time will tell.

It would be crazy for them to discontinue with the model that made the brand. They just need to bring out a new generation with high tech features and better luxury with new innovation which they have done for decades. The LS can't be discontinued that will hit Lexus badly IMO. They should have given this generation of LS a twin turbo v8 option. All its rivals from Europe have this, u should never limit your flagship
@avdp9095

@@samsonokoro5036 it will be an in between solution, more a "GS" than an Es or LS. You can forget a V8 option, over and out. I haven't been in a range rover yet, but definitely not an Escalade. It would have to be a long wheelbase sedan like this, smallest tires possible, and great suspension tuning. LS, A8, CT5, something along those lines, unless you jump up into a Rolls or a Bentley or something else super expensive. Would be an interesting test if I could ever drive some long wheelbase sedans back to back.

LAD or LED lights? On a more serious note, that option to move co drivers seat so to slide the backseat in lounge position.. does it have any kind of sensor/reading so it knows if theres a passenger sitting up front, blocking this option? It gives me anxiety both in this car as well as in Genesis vehicles 😬😬
@GearboxCarReviews
@GearboxCarReviews 9 ай бұрын
Whoops, did I say LAD? Or was that the closed captions? I have to imagine the weight sensor would stop the front seat from folding. There's usually a sensor of some kind in the seat anyway for airbags and seat belt warnings. I tried to look it up in the manual, but I couldn't find anything about it. I'll have to do a little more digging, but I would be really surprised if it still folded while someone was in the seat.

@GearboxCarReviews
@GearboxCarReviews Жыл бұрын
In base form, it's more space, more power, more comfortable ride, but if you're getting a base then I'm with you that it's probably not really worth the premium over a loaded ES for just those things. But the available features/options list is better for the LS. Air suspension, 28 way power seats with massage, 22 way rear seats with heat and massage, power sun-shades on all the windows including the back. All that in addition to the more space, more power, more comfortable ride. It really does feel like another level up when you're in a well-optioned LS vs an ES.

I wish I had access to one. Unfortunately, this is just what I can get. I can dig up the window sticker to get you the exact options that were on this car if that would help, but honestly, I don't think the 80k version is worth buying over an ES.

Lexus sure makes quality cars no doubt, but they need to make their flagship, LS 500, at least 10-15% bigger, for it to sell well. "Compact luxury" is not a luxury!

@GearboxCarReviews
@GearboxCarReviews Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that one is a little surprising. Also not the first 100k car with no charger, the F Type R I was in didn't have one either. I think companies are more focused on the high volume crossovers and such at the moment, and leaving cars like this for last to update. Still though, that price point and it's their flagship, it really should have a charger.

There was never a 5.0 v8 ls, there was a ls460 with a 4.6 v8. This guys says, big cooling for this big engine, its a v6 😂. I love lexus, that’s the only brand we have in our family but this guys sounds like a car salesman who knows nothing about the car he is selling.
@GearboxCarReviews
@GearboxCarReviews 10 ай бұрын
The reason I mentioned a 5.0 V8 is because Lexus used to put the displacement in the name. A car with 250 was a 2.5L, 300 was a 3.0L, 500 would be a 5.0L. It still is in the IS 500. And I say big engine, it's not huge fine but it's solid power compared to all the turbo 4 cylinders that are taking over.

I've only owned Toyota brand all my life (started with many Toyotas and currently own a Lexus) and find it hard to justify the purchase of the LS. If you are shopping for a 100K$+ executive full size sedan (aka money is not problem anymore), might as well go with the king of sedan at that point, the S-Class. The problem is that the ES is so good and similar, but at literally half the price of the LS (pretty sure why the ES sells 15 times more than the LS)
@GearboxCarReviews
@GearboxCarReviews Жыл бұрын
I do think there's still a place for it. I think it's an aspirational car for a lot of people, and as Lexus's flagship luxury sedan, I think it also carries quite a bit of cache. The ES is excellent, but the LS takes everything to the next level. It's bigger, it's more powerful, it has more available luxury features, and the touches all around are just nicer. It would be a tough sell for myself, but if I had to drive clients or executives around, it would be pretty high on my list. And while this one was $110k, you can spec one closer to $80k with just the things you want. I can't speak too much to the S-Class, but I know some people just prefer to stick to Japanese brands and Mercedes is generally a little more tech-forward, which could be a plus or a minus depending on the buyer. But without first driving an S-Class, I'm not going to get too far into that one. I do definitely hear where you're coming from though, and for most people the ES is going to be more than enough and way more attainable.
