2023 Mazda CX-60 launched in PH: A German-rivaling Japanese crossover | Top Gear Philippines

It wears the now-familiar Kodo design language, which is paired with black chrome, gloss-black accents, and black wheels in this Turbo-D Sport variant. Speaking of variants, there are two offered here: the gasoline-powered Mazda CX-60 AWD HEV Turbo, priced at P2,790,000, and the diesel-propelled Mazda CX-60 AWD Hev Turbo-D Sport, priced at P2,890,000. Both powerplants are not just turbocharged-they’re in-line-six engines like the ones found on BMWs.

Looks great honestly. Definitely at the top of my list. Great engine, mild hybrid, interior and exterior looks amazing. Price is very competitive for what it offers. Even the upcoming new crv model di kayang tapatan to.

Definitely! This car is made in Japan! Germans love rules. They follow those rules. German engineers expect people to follow their rules. When Japanese engineers go on to design a product they ask themselves: “How will the customers use it? How can I prevent failure if they abuse it?” The German engineer: “I made this machine and it has to be used in this particular way. If the customer abuses it and it fails it is his fault, not mine”. And so it is. For most German products, if you use them exactly as the manual states and within the conditions it is designed for it is probably going to last indefinitely. Go outside those limits and you can expect it to fail. Japanese products on the other hand are going to take a beating well outside specs and ask for more.

is this exempted from the evida law? seems that the mild hybrid features are only for improved performance and to reduced fuel consumption. it said that the cx 30 is also not included in the list of exempted vehicles together with other vehicles that are mild hybrids. your two cents pls.

Depends. The term mild hybrid covers everything from simple stop-start systems (Mazda's i-Stop and the system in the Ertiga) to coast-assist (Geely) to this... Mazda's system is sort of like Geely's, in that the electric motor doesn't drive the vehicle by itself, but with 17 hp, it does assist in moving the vehicle forward, being geared directly to the transmission, so it does count as a hybrid traction system. It only has about 0.33 kw of energy storage (theoretically good for about 1 km of range only), which is why it doesn't have an EV mode.

@@peeweekiwi2354 As always, caveat emptor. The above is my opinion on why it should count compared to the regular "Mild Hybrid" Mazdas, but who knows how the LTO will decide? I'd say wait and see what the experiences of other owners are first if this is a deciding factor. ;)
