I never thought Mercedes would be the leader in car gimmicks. Not even a decade ago they made very serious, sporty and classy vehicles. Sure they're still sporty, but not very serious and I don't find anything about the interior or exterior designs of their vehicles to be classy anymore. Very interesting to see such a transformation of a brand in such a short time frame.

But when we talk about the whole brand, we should also keep in mind that the EQS still has the S Class as its sister model. A potential customer can also opt directly for the combustion engine/hybrid model, and the looks and gimmicks are much more serious there. Nevertheless, I agree with you. If you compare the brand with Audi, for example

@Ricky Anthony. Very well said. Most people that are complaining aren’t Mercedes people. I’ve driven on Mercedes and I love each design they come out with. Because I know with every design Mercedes has a purpose behind it.

I feel like they're purposefully making the cars so bad that nobody will buy them, so that Mercedes quits on this whole range. Especially now that Germany said they wouldn't ban ICE cars by 2035 and they pulled out of the deal.

It’s the death of Mercedes Benz “quality” and “craftsmanship” by replacing wood with gloss black and Chinese screens. Luxury is having a piece of mind like Lexus even if they’re way behind in technology, not this overpriced RC car and electrical catastrophe waiting to happen.

mine has a build date of 5/17 I cant wait this is the second video where the driver complained of brakes. My salesmen warned me the ceramic. breaks would squeak and drive crazy I wont take it to the track

From an objective point of view, the third passenger screen is aesthetically a big mistake. The rest of the interior is a matter of taste, but if you like rgb pcs you will like it.

Nice vid! This might be the first time I have to heavily disagree. The EQS will never succeed at being "sporty" with its defective feeling breaks, no matter how much horsepower they throw at it. The regular EQS, as annoying as it was, was at least class leading and purpose built for efficiency. I really don't think the AMG is worth losing almost 60 miles in range trying to be something it isn't. But I suppose if someone can afford either model it probably won't matter.

If their range is more accurate than Tesla, 277 miles is fine, but if it's misleading like Tesla then it's really more like 170-200 miles of range which is absolutely insane for a $140k car. Auto manufacturers have been exploiting us as consumers since Covid began. Raising prices and slacking on innovation, while enjoying record profits. Sucks Edit: Those acceleration noises are bizarre. I'd definitely turn that off. I disagree with you arguing that it's needed to make an EV exciting. The acceleration and low center of gravity IS exciting.

Tesla isn't misleading. All of the EV manufacturers do the same thing. They test below 50 mph and in perfect temps even though so many highways in the US are 65 mph or more. If you only drive around town, all EVs will get their EPA rating. Teslas actually do quite well on the highway though. A performance model 3 which is rated for 315 miles gets about 270 going 70 mph. Meanwhile my Bolt EUV which is rated for 240 will only get around 150 on the highway.

Tesla doesn't have cheesy propulsion sounds however or ambient lights. I don't care for Tesla but there are less gimmicks in Teslas (beyond the silly farting sounds).

The death of Mercedes Benz craftsmanship and class begins with this car… if it didn’t already. The launch control sound makes it feel like a toy. Replacing wood with gloss black plastic. Yikes. Goodbye Benz quality. At least they could’ve made the screens blend in better than leave them as visible squares where I can see the screen end in some places. Come on. Feels like a Jeep. IMO there’s no point in buying a luxury car anymore. We already have the necessary luxuries. Power windows, A/C and heating, just missing overall driving dynamics that challenge current luxury cars. There’s almost no variety when the only sole “good” car brand seems to be shifting from Toyota to Mazda. To the person wanting a reliable car, only one car company exists. It’s the sad state of cars today. Once Mazda is done with ICE then… idk. I think I’m being too pessimistic.

Those screens will fail in no time, especially in extreme cold weather. Also with 0 physical buttons for climate control you are screwed when they fail. I feel like this full screen dash would also be nothing but finger prints and glare.. Its looks cool but probably wont be to functional or practical to live with. Also 150k ?? What makes this thing worth that much.. its a battery car just like all the others that cost 70k less. When engines are taken out of the equation it seems laughable to charge so much for an electric motor and a drivetrain, he said it himself.. electric cars all do just about the same thing. They are quick but lack character, that price tag is laughable.

I don't know, to me phony propulsion sounds defeat the beauty of driving an EV. They make a small whirring sound and then virtually no sound and you make swif progress with no sound. I'd turn all the crap off in the car. I don't like the hyperscreen, blinking lights, all the screens don't enhance anything IMO. Mercedes, the form follow function serious German car maker is gone. Now we have Mercedes the gimmick car maker. They're still well built and well engineered but they're giving us a lot of nonsense now. Give me Polestar's approach to interiors any day over this.
