Question: When you are fast charging is there anywhere it tells you the distance available "while charging", I see Kw and KWH etc... but if I say had to make it home 230km, I may want to stop the $ charging there and head home for my free Solar charging ir my discounted rate.. Just asking.

I was unable to charge at a Tesla service centre last week. Tesla said there is a safety issue with all MG EVs not locking in properly so out of ‘an abundance of caution’ they have now blocked all MGs from using Tesla chargers! Is this just in U.K., or just on v.3 chargers? Nobody seems to tell me if this is just temporary, or if there is a fix coming along.

Hi Tom, do we have any information about when Ampol is going to begin rolling out the other Ampcharge locations after the initial first 5 pilot locations? I know there are supposed to be 120 of them before October 2023, but I'm curious when I am likely to see one pop up in my area. I don't own an EV yet, but there is an Ampol within walking distance from my home, so as we don't have off-street parking for more than one car, and have 2 cars in the family, if I ever did get an EV, it could be convenient sometimes to leave the car charging and just pop home for half an hour while waiting for the car to charge. I'm also curious whether they are going to have a free period for these other locations, as there was for the pilot locations. I guess we will have to wait to find that out...

60c per kWh! How does that compare to an equivalent petrol fill up?
@LudicrousFeed2 жыл бұрын
The MG ZS EV has a 50kWh battery so at 60c/kWh, it will cost you 60c/kWh x 50kWh = $30 for 300km of range. Assuming an equivalent sized petrol SUV needs 30L to travel 300km … $30 for 300km is approx $1/L

You state that the ZS has an LFP battery so it’s OK ago charge regularly to 100%. According to MG U.K., the battery is 72.6Kw and Lithium Ion! So I’m only charging new ZS to 80% except for longer journeys. Am I right?
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
You have been watching me review the 50kWh MG ZS EV which is equipped with LFP battery chemistry hence can be charged to 100% regularly. - The newer LR with 72kWh has Li NMC hence should be topped up regularly to 80-90% only

Max 200A for this unit is concerning
@zero16662 жыл бұрын
@@LudicrousFeed Yeah it's a shame, makes the 180kW for CCS seem a little misleading without any caveats added. I wonder if they keep using this model charger and the lower speeds put people off using them, could Ampol deem the trial not worth it and change their minds on the rollout and cancel or alter it? Surprising no one from Ampol hasn't realised only a very small handful of cars charge on more than 400 Volts. I feel like they just took the units specced 900v x 200amp and came up with a theoretically maximum of 180kW and went with it without considering no car can obtain that. Also feel like they should have gone with another brand like Tritium or another unit capable of outputting higher amps.
