2023 Mini Cooper S Cabriolet review - Best paired with a twisty mountain road

If what you value in a front-wheel drive car above all are its handling and quality feel, plus you just have to have a soft top cabriolet, then the Mini Cooper drop-top is among the best cars you can buy. The last time I drove one was a few years ago when it was a relatively new car, and I was blown away by how fun it was to drive. Now I've driven one again, this time towards the end of the model's life (it's going to be replaced in the next year or so), and I can say it's still just as competent and characterful as I remember it.

Amazing video Andrei! I used to drive one a few years back … and I think I had a flashback :D. I think the Mini is defined by two words ..nimble and ready and with the droptop is even a better experience now in the summer. Keep it up !

Thanks, Florin! I like the Cooper S drop-top because you can really hear its turbo and exhaust noises really well. I would have a really hard time picking between one of these and a Mazda MX-5. Which would you get? Also, maybe there's room for a special Cooper S in your collection too. I know you're all about RWD, but you could probably make an exception for something like a spiced up JCW 😅

@@OneTireFire both cars are great I think like you said ...it will come to personal choice like everything else in life... but for me I would pick the MX5 because it has RWD like you said and the ride is more compliant and also because I have soft spot for Mazda's :D. I don't believe in a brand, I believe in the ethos of driving sensation and the Mini Cooper S cabriolet and MX5 have a lot to give but in a different way.
