As someone who owns a Supra, the Z is definitely a bit of a hard sell in the current market. I agree with Topher in that it should of been priced just a little bit less and it would be a SOLID buy for what you get. Excluding issues with dealerships, Nissan's production line and the MSRP, it's not a *bad* car by any means and if you're blessed enough to be able to afford cars in this price range, you're winning no matter what. I guarantee you Z owner's are smiling every time they get in their car to drive as are the Camaro owners, Super owners and anyone else in the price range. Enjoy it while we got it boys, they're phasing these cars out soon and in another 5-10 years we'll likely only see EV's for sale and in another 20-30 years we'll look back at cars like these as classics and legends of their time.

It’s a great street car. The only time I saw one though was at a C&C and it was one of the best looking cars there imo. But it’s still hilarious to me how everyone hyped this up to “show Toyota how it’s done” and it’s done nothing but fall short. Stop sales before production, paint issues etc. If the GR Supra launched in this state, we wouldn’t have heard the end of it. I wouldn’t mind a base model but I’ve seen them all marked up to 50k.

We couldnt avoid hearing about how bad the new "BMW Supra" was. Pretty much everyone who owned the 3.0 loved it, how bulletproof the engine is (people make 500whp stock on the factory powertrain), its fuel economy can be in the 30s during commuter conditions, ect. The only complaint I can find is visibility (you get that in many sporty hatchbacks) and lack of manual in the first launch. Yes, the new 5.0 is around the same price and arguably a better car, but I just love the design

The interior and exterior styling is on point. However, it really seems as though these cars have leaned more towards touring than sportiness over the past decade, and this new model really, really shows that. The 370z had brake cooling issues on the track in a variety of tests when it launched. I wonder how this one will do? Regardless, it seems like a lot of effort is needed to get this car to go around a track reasonably quick compared to its competition. Which is a real shame because if you want a sports coupe with a liftback, you don't have many options in today's world.
@aliamezcua9585 Жыл бұрын
What’s the difference between sporting and touring
@rusher38 Жыл бұрын
@@aliamezcua9585 Primarily comfort. This new Z is fantastic if all you're going to do is cruise around town and down the highway. The suspension design, despite having a front double wishbone, leans more towards comfort. Under heavy braking and cornering, the car has heavy body roll. The car being heavy means you'll really, really feel it. Overall, if you compare lap times for the new Z to the GR86, you'll find that it's not significantly faster around most circuits despite having nearly double the horsepower. The new Z is kind of a boat. It's a fantastic choice if you want an alternative to a Mustang, but it's not nearly as capable as the Supra for performance driving. This ultimately comes down to the fact that Toyota and BMW came together to create a very good car at a very good price, whereas Nissan is working entirely on its own for the new Z. Regardless, the new Z has a certain amount of character to it that the Supra lacks. I'd also argue that it has a bit more charm than a Mustang. If you scrunch numbers to find the most optimal way to spend a dollar, the new Z isn't it. But, if you want something that feels a bit more like an old car, the new Z is it.

As a massive Nissan fanboy, I stand firmly that the final product just wasn't the sum of its parts. - recycled FM platform for cost also means low innovation - the VR30DETT, while powerful, doesn't feel like it when compared to the old VQ-s - the blind spots are WORSE than the 370Z, which are known to be kinda bad - this could have been Nissan's answer to the SRT lineup, by perhaps offering a revamped VQ35 (which can handle boost as dailies) and then an upgraded VK56 (which is basically just Nissan's LS1 clone and just as hardy) - the sheer fact that the end buyer pays more to get less overall features when compared to the Supra - oh, and after all this damned time.....the VDC off (traction control) still doesn't disable the YAW sensor from factory (the old Genesis 3.8' could do it, the FRS and BRZ could do it....um...)

Honestly I was excited for this car but not so much anymore. And actually in general of Japanese offerings. I owned 180sx’s among others back in the day. Mabey I’m getting old now I don’t know (35) but I’m more interested and thinking I’m going to wait a year or two and spend my money on the new Ford Mustang dark horse. I think there is more for the money value there now.

idk why but i prefer this design over the 86 gt or even a new supra.

It’s hard to sell a GT car with no rear seats in my mind, even if only 2+2. Car looks beautiful though.

I need your input here. I watch all of your reviews and I'm stuck around what car I want to get. Currently, I have a 21 GLI. The ea888 is great, but things like the DCT TCU is annoying in both drive and sport, wheel hop is annoying, handling is okay - the LSD is actually quite good, but there are better handling cars for sure. Typical VW things like rattles, creaks, and almost too complex sensor systems, all add to weird and finicky things happening. Not to mention, working on it can be annoying and expensive because it's a VW and you need all of their special tools. So I'm looking at the wrx, brz, or 400z. I want a daily driver (I don't drive far to work) with some performance. I don't care to have the fastest car, but I want a fun and engaging drive. I live on Vancouver Island where there are a ton of twisty mountain roads. I want something that handles well, can corner, can be upgraded relatively easily with bolt ons, and feels sound/quality. I'm not going to track it, but I enjoy being engaged in my drive. For reference, I used to have a 99 civic sir with b16a2 engine. Not fast by today's standards, but it was raw and cornered like a champion. Can you offer some insights since you've driven all of them?

I’m biased and would vote BRZ, but would recommend driving as many of your options as possible. Try to find used examples to test drive, dealers usually don’t have any issue with that.

@@TheTopher my local toyota dealer wouldn't let me test drive the used 2023 limited edition with 11,000 km on it....because it was in the show room. Our local toyota dealer doesn't have a good rep. Anyway, another used gr86 is coming in this week so I'm down for a test drive. I have to say, they are a really slick car - nice lines. I'm excited to try it out and then pull the trigger on a BRZ or a WRX. To note, I test drove a VA STI just to see the difference between the VB - that VA is a wild animal. Raw and loud. UEL headers really rumble. Light flywheel those revs just shoot up. I found that it demands all of your attention while driving, whereas the VB is much more reserved under normal driving. As always, I enjoy the vehicle reviews 👍🏻

@@TheTopher got to finally drive am 86. Nice, tight, and surprising torque. Left a bit to be desired in the 6000+ rpm, but not bad.

That's about I paid for my Camaro 2SS. The Camaro has its faults but the powertrain or chassis aren't either of them And that's whole point in buying a compromised sports car!

I'm still not really sure why this car costs so much. They re-used the engine from the Infiniti line and re-used the 350z platform for the 2nd time and a lot of the car's pieces are just from the 350z/370z. As much as I've always loved Z's, I ended up getting a Supra instead and can't really justify recommending this over the Supra unless you're a die-hard Z fan, or can find one of these under 40K.

The problem is that this is just a dressed up 370 Z with a different engine with slightly more power, but not enough additional power, considering it turbo charged and the 370z was naturally aspirated

I love that Nissan is still keeping it real and actually made this, but this car is 40-45k when you compare to the competition. Especially with all the carry over parts. Also nissan please make a convertible version and I will buy it in 3 years when its deprecation is about half just like the red sport.
@hartsickdisciple7 ай бұрын
I wonder why they made the fuel tank so much smaller than what the 350z and 370z had. The 370z had a 19 gallon tank, and the 350z had 20 gallons.

I have a g37 and looking to upgrade, but man my 2015 has memory seats, fully electric seat adjusters with boulster adjustment, electronic wheel adjustment. Idk why they couldn’t include it as as standard here. Yes its a nissan and a grade under infinity in the “luxury” segment, but its 10 years newer lol

What color is this again? Gun Metallic or Gray Pearl? He just mentioned Gray? Hard to compare to the colors on the nissan website.

Not many people are spending the money for this car unless they just want the car. Its soo hard to compare to anything else around the same price and performance. Especially with the supra back and lexus doing there thing and all the v8 american cars. Your better off with something else.
