To be more exact, the lock locks the front suspension from leaning, but it does not lock the steering; so if you turn on the lock, you can push it around your garage or shed steering it as you go without worrying about it falling over. In reverse you can back up with the front locked while steering. It's an awesome product that lends itself to two-up riding because of the stability when loading/unloading the passenger.

Greetings again from the UK Peter. Excellent detailed video as always. I love this new MP3 530 HPE. I bought my first 2017 MP3 300 Business in Jan 2023 with 8k on the clock. I really enjoyed it with zero problems. Nothing but fun. Last week I have upgraded to a MP3 500 2021 HPE. I pick up this newer model in 2 days time. I cannot wait because I haven't even rode it yet. The new 2023 model you are testing looks beautiful, modern and still practical but out of my budget at £11,500 (UK). I will get one in a couple of years time. My new 2021 MP3 500 was £7300 and only has 800 miles on the clock. I went to my local dealer with a friend who was buying a bike and could not let this model pass. It comes with Sat Nav, heated grips, heater for your legs, reverse gear, low mileage, an official Piaggio colour matching backbox and a bigger engine than my previous model. As you mentioned, the MP3's are so much fun, cheap to run and practical. I still have my car but only drive it occasionally now I have an MP3. I will ride my scooter all year round. l would definitely recommend these MP3's to anyone considering buying one. You can now buy the 300cc, 500cc or 530cc.

I had a Piaggio 400 MP3 for a while. I hoped my wife would get the bug but she never did and the bike was sold. It was a fun machine to ride and had plenty of power. I would have preferred the 500 for any touring but the 400 was OK. I own a Suzuki Burgman 650 AN Executive scooter - I feel the Burgman was better than the Piaggio in terms of storage in the dash and under the seat. I did like the 3 wheels with extra traction and stability and the locking mechanism which I rarely used except to show off at the lights was a good feature for those concerned about holding up the bike when stopped. The newer version of the Piaggio has much more tech than earlier versions which I think is an improvement. I also own Can Am Spyder and you are correct that the wider wheels and much more stable but there is a tendency, until you learn the technique, to be thrown off in turns. This is a very comprehensive and thorough review.

The main reason for this motorcycle and tricycle setup in particular popularity in Europe is that you don't need to have a motorcycle license for it, car license is enough. In general one can ride a scooter up to 125cc with a car driving license or trike without a displacement limit, as long as it has L5e homologation.

I have a 2020 Can-Am F3 Spyder Limited now. How different is this as far as handling than the F3? I traded in a H-D Fat Bob as my ankles are very weak. Do you need to put your feet down at anytime to support the vehicle?
@PeterLoweOne Жыл бұрын
The handling on this is quite a bit different than your Can-Am Spyder. This leans to turn just like a traditional motorcycle. Technically you could drive it without having to put your feet down, as you can click a switch that can lock it upright every time you come to a stop, but it's not something that I would recommend to people who never want to put their feet down. There's a bit of a timing thing to learn to get it right every time, but the rider should be ready to put their feet down with every stop. So again, you may find that it works for you, and I definitely find it easier to balance at a stop than a traditional motorcycle, but I feel most comfortable telling people to get used to putting their feet down every stop, and then let each individual rider determine if that's necessary for them.

There is a very twisty backroad in nearby that I use as part of my testing track in scoring bikes. I could not belive how easy and quick the Mp3 made it thru where most ordinary non sport bikes will more or less put up an protest and a specialy the low powered ones. The bends are deep and steep close to each other all the way thru where ordinary scooters with auto/CVT transmission will loose their breath for sure not being able to catch it up and in most cases I have to take them by their horns pointing out the direction and that is not a good thing on a twisty road. These machines are whatever the advertising and looks will tell us, for urban commuting only. The Mp3 got lots of torque/grunt a wonderful transmission, exellent road handling and the opposit occurs, I am to hold it back.

The best way to see real world fuel consumption on any motorcycle (or trike) is to check out online owner's forums where you can see the range that people are posting and the types of riding that they do. I'm not all that experienced in stealing motorcycles... so I'm not sure, but it looks like a previous comment gave some good information.

There’s no point in putting an aftermarket exhaust on this the droning will drive you nuts. That being said that muffler is ridiculously heavy so you can loose some pounds if you find the right one that isn’t much louder that stock. Thats the only advantage to a slip on in this case

You use the term North America. Those of us that live in the USA. Is it legal, how to purchase one, repair issues, and parts for diy repair? Should anyone in the USA even be looking at one?
@Hyundaiworker69 Жыл бұрын
Yes, as a matter of fact I'm buying one in Alabama. It has to be shipped here and the dealer who it is shipped to handles the maintenance.

I like the 300 HPE sport better. This too much specially for the pricing. But its still a good one. I will for the 300

Im getting a 3wheeler but I can't choose between the metropolis and the piaggio, piaggio drives better but it's butt ugly , looks like a duckface lol, where the metropolis looks cool and has two lights instead of the one...wich triggers my ocd

Try the new 530 exclusive as it is a lot better than the old 500 also i believe the locking mechanism is a lot better than the rest of the 3 wheelers out there and maybe more dealers out there for services 😊
@adamhughes5358 Жыл бұрын
Also the 530 exclusive comes with blind spot detection is capable of doing 95 mph where legal of course 😊

I think I would go for Peugeot Metropolis. Top speed about 138 per GPS, more storage, nicer design, flat floor, great suspension (especially on back with SW version and its Paolio suspension), slightly different design of front which is in theory cheaper, adjustable wind shield and so on.

I'm sure someone can! Not sure if that someone is me though!!
@steph._.8059 Жыл бұрын
Do u need a driving licence.
@adamhughes5358 Жыл бұрын
In the uk you have to have a full car licence before 2013 and I recommend that you do a basic training course if you have not been on motorcycles or scooters 🛵before it is a days course and it is not a pass or fail they just teach the basics in car park before going out on the road about 6/7 hours 😊

It looks like a great machine overall, but since when does a scooter need a freaking back up camera?
@PeterLoweOne Жыл бұрын
Yeah. The automotive world is changing quickly! I'm not sure we need all the features that we get, but then on the other hand I keep seeing these features for the first time and saying, "That's cool!!"

Kymco cv3 seems a better option
@PeterLoweOne Жыл бұрын
I don't agree. The quality, power, lots of things about this make it the nicer unit in my opinion.
@thekidd7531 Жыл бұрын
I also don't agree. Piaggio is quite technologically advanced... even some of those technical things were used for the first time on a motorcycle.
@thekidd7531 Жыл бұрын
And you just mean that, because cv3 seems scarier, more powerful...
@puffybodie5282 Жыл бұрын
Why do you think so? Because 2 cylinder engine? True that helps performance, quality should be better with Kymco (sorry Piaggio, but late years are harsh on you in that regard). Kymco is more expensive, does not have underseat storage practically, separated seats is totally stupid design, rear case completely eliminate your passenger seat. Is more like a Yamaha Niken which can't stand on its own (similar with Tricity 125/300). On the other hand don't understand why most expensive Piaggion does not have configurable wind shield even if manually, there is no front storage except that small one for the phone, suspension sucks a lot on bad roads. In my opinion Peugeot Metropolis 400 SW is kicking the a.. of both for way lower price (plus has step through design)

The twin cylinder engine is good for more of a touring machine in my opinion

After so many years. Passenger fotpins exactly on that high to destroy your nes and no komfort for passenger😅 and seat is still to short. Why just why dont make it longer for driver?😂 Me 176cm kant have no space and my ass hurts after 20min driving... No space for legs. My 50cc kina scooter have place for feets😂 and i kan do 2/3hours run without feel my ass...
