I test drove a ram pick up yesterday and I’m going back today to purchase it. Most comfortable pick up I have ever driven. With all the recalls and everything that Ford goes through constantly I think it’s a better decision than the Ford.

I’m a simple guy and just needed a simple work truck so I got myself the Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman extended cab with 2wd and the Hemi. $32k at the time in 2020, and finished paying it off last November. $80k for a 1/2 ton family hauler is too much.

I have always liked your solo reviews, and your family interaction adds so much more. I have had my Ram Limited since new in 2020. It is the best ever. I also tow a 6,000 lbs travel trailer and it never let's me down. Shame the gas mileage is still poor.

After being an F-150aholic since 1986 I ordered a '22 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7L Hemi last year. At 5K miles in I still can't believe how comfortable, quiet, and how well the truck drives. Zero problems so far, and it gets respectible mpgs in town and on the highway. We like it so much, instead of taking the wife's car, we're taking the Ram to the Badlands in May. Yes, it's that impressive. BTW, if you want you can push the "minus" on the gear limit switch, and then push the "plus" up to 8th gear, the engine will not drop to 4 cylinder mode while cruising.

Yeah f150 start to fail even below 5k miles. I know, I had 3, with the current 2022, right from the first mile the transmission is garbage. And hey its Ford, so all complaints you have - dealer will say it's normal. My 22 f150 had 4 warranty repairs in 1 year. 2019 before this one was in the shop for warranty 51 days in total in 2 years that I've owned - to bad no lemon law in Canada... yeah the best truck ever!

I have this same truck in an older model and while I love it but just had a valve body malfunction and the part alone was over $2000.00 plus mechanic but other than scheduled maintenance it’s been a great truck and I’ve looked at newer models and there really not that different from what I own now so I’ll keep this till the wheels fall off!

Micah, the rear seats also recline. How did you miss it? I pulled a fully loaded max tow weight 30' trailer from Bakersfiekd Ca to Soldotna Alasaka, and the Ram was amazing.

The one thing I notice a lot of reviews forget about in the mid to high trim level rams. The rear seats recline.

This isn’t true in majority of 2022 models. Mine was suppose to come with the recline and heat, but they were removed due to parts shortage. That doesn’t mean it didn’t come back at some point in the year though.

I have a 2020 Laramie and it's like Rolls Royce and Toyota Landcruiser teamed up to make a truck. The build quality is insane. I got the Laramie with the tech and safety packages so it wouldn't be out of date for quite a while and I'm glad I did. Another channel said that Ram made a huge mistake and made this truck waaaaaay better than what they can charge the market for since they have to price it similar to Ford and Chevy. With 50,000 miles, it drives like brand new. Solid as a brick, no creaks, interior unlike anything else around. I never dreamed you could get a vehicle this nice but built as a truck so it'll last for a decade. Wow.

Good review. The only annoyance that all reviews seem to not mention are that the rear seats slide and recline. And that the entire center seat drops down. Both are massive positives vs. The competition.

As commuter, as well as casual outdoorsman and occasional Home Depot shopper, I’m finding it increasingly hard to justify paying 60k and up for a truck. Add to that the poor mileage and I just can’t seem to bring myself to buy one. As much as I’d love to drive around in one I can’t get past the through of $100 per week at the pump and the price of those 22” tires

You were talking about the safety sensors not being standard being a downside... That's actually what talked me out of all of the other trucks and into the ram. Less sensors is a huge plus to me. However, I do understand, everyone's preference is different... I was so happy it was optional on the RAM though because of that. I've worked in the automotive world my entire life, and I have seen far to many headaches and issues over the years with all of the sensors in vehicles today (they have improved though).

Great review. It's supposed to be wood, but I have no clue. If it's not, I've never seen a synthetic material with so much grain. I have a 2020 with 50k miles and haven't had a bit of problem with it. The only thing I've had wrong with it is the leather on the dash started peeling up and it was replaced under warranty, but from what I've read they replaced that material with something in 2023 so hopefully that won't happen on future models. I do think it's insane what they're doing though, and I'm super glad I got mine when I did. It seems every new model year they keep taking away features. I got mine in November 2020, level 1 options with pano moonroof, MFT (which I absolutely love and want on every truck in the future now), cargo management rails, 22" wheels, for 63k. The exact same truck with all the same options in 2023 is 78k. That's a crazy increase, I'm just hoping I can push mine to 200k because it's a joy to ride in every day.

Neighbor has a new F150 4WD. He also has his dad's old 70s F150. Had them parked end to end in front of his house the other day and the first thing I thought was how huge a full sized truck has gotten. The new one dwarfs the 70s one. I hope RAM does release a new Dakota in the near future. That would be just about right for me. The 1500 is just overkill for a single guy to make Home Depot runs in.

I've never wanted a truck as bad as i have the past few years and I've finally decided to start saving up for a downpayment for one. So I can't wait to have atleast a 20k downpayment for one next year before summer. Only question (for anyone with knowledge) whats sets the Limited apart from the Laramie to justify the price difference? Also, would buying be smarter than leasing one? Is it worth it to finance and deal with the cost of regular maintenance and whatever major repairs you have to deal with after the truck gets past the 100k mile mark? Or leasing and upgrading every 3 years and not have to worry about depreciation and major repairs?

My buddy has a 21 1500 limited and let me tell ya, The thing is the best vehicle for road trips in my opinion. From indiana to Florida and back it was great to drive and be a passenger in. Never felt uncomfortable. As a matter of fact on the way back the back seat is pretty large at least for me (im 5"8) and could completely sprawl out and take a nap back there. Very great daily or just a good work truck if you aren't scared of damaging it.

I have a 2020 F150 I really love. I've had a 2004, 2011, 2017 and a 2020. However, I don't know if I can get on board with the 21-23 model F150. Just feels like I'm driving a cell phone and my 2020 feels better made. I think I'm moving to Ram. It seems they are making trucks for people who want trucks still.

Mom and dad recently got one and I surprised by how luxurious trucks have gotten. Also the step is easy in the back is easy to get out the hard part is putting it back in. Lastly I hate the sport hood it’s so tough to see out

@GP it depends if I wanted a half ton truck like the Ram or a mid size like the Ranger and Canyon. For me, I would go with the Ford Ranger because it can carry and tow everything I would need. The smaller size will work better on trails as well. I also like the fact that the Ranger has been one of the top pickup trucks in parts of Europe and Australia for over a decade. I like the looks of the 23 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss versus the GMC Canyon, but they're the same truck. Reliability will be a question with those two. For the Ram, I would go with the 2500 with the V8.

Great review! I'm in the market, and this model tops my list. IMO, it's the best-looking and sounding, nicest interior. For the cost, I can't get past the lack of current assist tech. The F-150 Powerboost was quicker, better epa rating, and had much better driver assist tech. I didn't care for the driver seat in the Ford, or I'd have bought it. Still looking~

This is a fantastic truck, but I dont like massive vertically integrated screens, I wish it had Jeep's Hurricane i6, and the lack of advanced safety tech in lower trims is disappointing. If I were buying a 1/2 ton truck right now, it'd probably be a fully loaded F150 XLT 2.7 Sport with all the active safety and tech packages -- $62k thereabouts.

All trucks have, Ram is one of the worst offenders though... In order to get something as basic as adaptive cruise control, you're spending $70k+ on a Laramie with the level 2 package. Meanwhile, a tiny ass Civic has all the active safety tech features under the sun, standard equipment for $18k...

5.7 ram with 4x4 all oil changes are a mess they couldn't put that drain in worse spot, engineers failed there gets all over front axle and need extra rags clean up
