We review the new 2020 RAM 1500 to discuss the importance of how trucks dominate sales in the US. In this video, we have fun while being direct in covering all the good and bad things about the new truck and why in most cases buyers would buy this or stay away. We don't ignore the issue but celebrate the good. With other products like the Toyota Tundra, Ford F150, and Chevy Silverado there has to be one for everyone.

Always great points of view coming from these guys. I own a '19 1500 Limited with 5.7 and 4x4. Traded in my '15 F150 4x4 ecoboost. I tow, haul and drive it everywhere. I'm getting 17-19mpg on the highway and 14mpg when loaded down with 7k lbs. I've had 2 issues which occured within less than 100 miles of purchase: A/C (they added freon-problem solved) and the Entertainment system (would turn and off - they replaced it under warranty). Other than those issues, no problems at all with 13k miles on the clock. It's all based on what you expect and how you use it. GL with your decision, very satisfied with mine.

I bought my first FCA product in many many years back in 2015 when my wife convinced me to buy a 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 with the 6.4 Hemi and 4:10 gear ratio. I'd avoided all Chrysler products for generations because of concerns over reliability, even though they've always made some really good looking products. Having always been a Chevy guy, and had great experiences with Chevy trucks, I reluctantly yielded to my wife's insistence and ordered the Ram 2500 Laramie, loaded up just how I wanted it. I had the Ram for 5 years, and even though it only had 28,000 miles on it when I traded it in, most of those miles were spent towing my 7500 lb boat, my 10,000 lb toy hauler, or one of several other trailers. I ended up loving that truck, and had basically zero issues with it. The interior was very nice, the ride was firm, but very comfortable for long trips, the ample electronics never had any issues, the engine ran flawlessly, NVH issues were nonexistent, the infotainment was intuitive, and the Alpine stereo system was about as good a factory sound system as I've ever heard in a truck and the fit and finish was great. My only complaints about the truck were the 6 speed transmission, which always worked flawlessly, but was really not a good match for the 6.4 Hemi engine when towing heavy because of the gear spacing, and the crappy Firestone tires that were about worn out in 28,000 miles, and were garbage on wet or snowy roads. I liked the Ram so much that I just traded it for a 2019 Ram 3500 4x4 Limited with the HO Cummins and Aisan transmission. I hope this one turns out to be just as good as last one, but just in case I bought the 84 mo /85,000 mile Premium extended warranty because one look at the high tech interior of the new Ram will make you shutter at the thought of all the things that could go wrong and the likely cost of getting them fixed!

@@06XTOR I think I acknowledged that it wasn't a lot of miles, but in case you missed it, it was also over 5 years of use with most miles in front of a trailer. To read a lot of these comments people act like every Ram will fall apart before you get it home. Where I live I think Ram outsells Chevy and Ford, and everyone I know who actually owns a Ram seems really like them and have good luck with their Rams. A good friend of mine is the Service Manager at the local Ram dealership and he gives me the honest scoop about common issues and problems with the Rams. Seems like typical stuff all brands deal with! BTW, I checked, and the local Ford, Chevy, and GMC dealerships all have big service shops too, and they all seem to have their respective bays occupied by their own brand of truck at any given time! I wonder why if they are all so reliable... hummm.

We also have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Eco-Diesel, which now has 83 K miles, and it's only problem has been the emission system! But, everyone's experience is different, and maybe I have just gotten lucky. With that said, this has been the best truck I have ever owned. The air ride suspension is truly remarkable. The only issue I've had is one of the retracting side mirrors needed a replacement motor. Also the air conditioning is not quite up to the task of cooling down the large interior space. I find it surprising how hard they keep pushing the reliability issue as it really seems to be based on the experience of their friend. I don't doubt he's had problems-there can be lemons in every model-but they need something more scientific. Larger sample set.

My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 hemi has had only two issues over the past 17 years. The first was the crankcase sensor malfunction that completely shut my truck down without any notice, and the second being the transmission relay that blew while doing 70 on the interstate which sent it into limp mode. Besides those two issues, mine has been very reliable. I plan on keeping it till I die.

I see quite a few reviews talking about a lack of reliability, but when I browse forums of actual owners, sure there's issues (more than Toyota) but overall it's a good report. Basically, if reliability is ALL you care about, get a Tundra. But if you want a really nice balance of all the different reasons people buy a truck for, Ram is the best.

My 2015 Ram has been great. I used to work as a tech at a Dodge dealer in the early 2000s. Ram truck quality has come a long way. Perfect? Nope. Great improvement thuogh. My 2015 Ram is much better than the 1998 and 2001 Rams I owned. I did have a 2001 and 2005 Tundra that I kept for over 250,000 miles. The 2005 was rock solid overall minus the crappy emissions problems.

Leasing my third Ram 1500, a 2020 Rebel. Most refined one yet. I must be a lucky man...I have really had no problems with these trucks (my first one a 2015 Ecodiesel). The last one (2017 Laramie) had to have a piece of plastic bed trim replaced under warranty and a few software updates. Cannot comment on how reliability will be long term, but it is evident Ram is serious about making class leading trucks. Hopefully in reliabilty too.

This is painful to watch! Such a great video as always guys. I have a 2015 Ecodiesel and when it’s not in the shop, it was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Super comfortable, really nice, great fuel economy, etc. However, I’m SICK of it being in the shop all the time. Sometimes stupid stuff, sometimes dramatic really bad stuff. I can’t take the lack of reliability. Now I’m in the position of hating every other truck out there. I’m going to get rid of this truck any day and I assume will take a bath on the resell value. Honestly - I have no idea what I’m going to buy, but it will not be a FCA product.

I’ve had my 2015 Ram 5.7L since 4800 miles and now at 83,000 the biggest issues I’ve had with them was exhaust manifold bolts snapping. Happened 3x. First at 23k miles then 52k and last at 76k. I change the oil every 3500-4000 miles. But other than the above I’ve had no issues. Starts and runs good. I’m plan on buying another Ram in the future.

I rented a 2020 Laramie quad cab 4x4 5.7 hemi to hit some trails 3 days ago. Interior was quite nice with the Alpine sound system and the ride onroad was smooth. It handled like a champ off-road. I followed a Jeep TJ and a Toyota FJ Cruiser. Climbing up and down rocky forest roads, weaving in and out of deep sand washes was no problem. It did not have the rear locker, skid plates, large screen, split tailgate, ram box or the air suspension. Overall I was impressed! 16.5mpg over 200 miles of off-road and mtn road driving.
