I grew up a Chevy and Dodge guy. I've never been a big fan of Ford work trucks because I enjoy getting up and moving faster than the ones like in the 90s doing Lawn Maintenanc... Yeah they might have been able to haul more but rarely did we haul more than mowers. Now anything American Made Vehicle Wise. Scares Me. You sure did put time into this. After owning 2 crew cab GMC Sierras since 1994, I just bought a midsize Honda Ridgeline to tow my bass boat. Did I want a midsize truck? No …. But GMC prices were in the mid 60’s & out the door approaching $70,000. I bought a AWD V6 Honda Ridgeline Sport 3 months ago & saved myself $24,000. I’ll get use to it. The best truck you can buy is one that fits your budget and that YOU like. You don’t want to be married to your truck payment. As far as quality goes. I’m a Toyota Tacoma fan and a for fan but everyone is different. UNFORTUNATELY ….. nobody (even Toyota) makes an exceptional quality vehicle in this day and age. I have had a lot of trucks , 3/4 , 1/2 and midsize. I get a new one every year. I prefer midsize because I like to use it for trail riding in the woods and the full size usually does not fit down the trails and exploring I like to do. Bottom line , you work hard for your money and no one pays for it accept you. Don’t try to keep up with the guy next door. You’ll just be unhappy on the long run. Have a great day ✌🏻

I think I'll take the old fashion option. I'll buy a 60's to 90's Chevy and build that up. A well built 350 with dual ram air and 400 turbo trani. That has enough pulling power for the average person. Now if you are pulling a bigger boat or horse trailer over the pass you probably want a diesel. Not very average loads. Thanks for your videos. Hey Scotty. Love your videos but cannot believe you didn't mention the Honda Ridgeline. There wasn't even a video or a picture of one. It has been the highest rated truck in its class over the years. Its competitve payload numbers and the only truck in its class to be able to lie 4 ft wide building materials flat in its bed allow it to function as a family truck and a mild work truck. I have a 2019 Ridgeline but passed up a Tacoma for better options. Give some more love to the Ridgeline. Keep posting and I'll keep watching.

Mpg is always a concern. But I wish you would do this same segment on engine/transmission reliability and lifespan. Having a truck that gets great gas mileage doesn't matter much if all that saved money on fuel gets dumped right back into the vehicle on repairs when 40-60k miles later the engine or tranny starts having problems or fails. Also realistic OTD pricing is very different from msrp. Wish you would do a segment on which manufacturers rake you over the coals the Most with actual average pricing Over msrp, and which manufacturers vehicles tend to be closest to MSRP. For the intended informative goal though, great segment Scotty.

It’s just nice to know that there are so many brands with so many configurations of pickups in this country. Personally I like the Toyota brand for reliability and resale value but they don’t have the really big tow haulers. Everybody can buy a truck for their individual needs. I would just recommend not buying one of the new generation model of any brand. Wait for the second or third year to give the manufacturer time to work any problems out and you’ll likely avoid the issues that come with them.

It seems there are good and bad experiences with all of the brands. I currently have a 2021 Ram 1500 Sport which is my third Ram Sport. All were reliable including my current one * Knock on wood * Always loved the look, great interiors, comfortable for a tall guy like me, and the Hemi is still a great V8. Nice trim for your money if you currently don't buy brand new.

I currently drive a '21 Tundra. Before that, I had a couple of Tacomas. Since owning those 3 pickups, I've never paid for a single repair. Can't say the same about my last Chevy that had a rear window latch come off in my hand OR the Ford that left me stranded out-of-state because the wiring harness melted together (shortly after the warranty expired). And now that I'm in my 60s--I don't have time for that kind of crap.

Scotty, i’m glad you took the time to make this video. Personally, I have no real use for a pick up truck I don’t even like the way they look. I’m kind of upset that they’ve gotten rid ofV8’s but I also despise electronic power brakes. Unfortunately, this is not the way of the worldworld. I also dislike EV cars trucks and so on. I agree with you. We are not ready for electric vehicles. They are inefficient now I will say once we can get to the level that an electric vehicle can go 1000 miles and recharge in about 15 minutes then electric vehicles will be viable until then they’re a big toy.

I actually need a new truck because my 95 1500 5.2 ram has 500k plus miles and its just falling apart. Still runs though only major issue I ever had with it was the fuel pump. 1. I can't imagine anyone REALLY wanting to buy a Maverick. Even more so, a hybrid! 2. Light trucks serve a good purpose. Tacoma should do extremely well with the I4 Turbo. 3. Full size trucks, if reliability matters the most: TUNDRA. I personally can't stand the history of problems with Ford, Chevy and Duex RAM, frenchies! (disclaimer: I own a 2024 Tundra Limited TRD 4x4, non hybrid, couldn't be happier!) 4. HD sized trucks, if I had to buy one, probably a GM.

We bought a brand new 2021 f150. It was in the shop a ton even the first week due to someone not connecting the right wires so it was driving like it was missing out. Tons of recalls too and at 46k had major repairs needed thankfully still under warranty. Crazy. And the Ford dealer repair shops here in Houston are so overwhelmed that they tell you to drop it off and they will access it in 48 hours. Not repair just look at it. Since the major repair and warranty was about to end, we traded it for 2022 Ram Hemi V8. Better smoother ride and that V8 purrs
