2023 RAM TRX HAVOC EDITION Review

With a 702 HP Supercharged V8, the 2023 Ram TRX is a Jurassic beast! Ram's Raptor Slayer truck has upped the competition for Ford to battle for king of the Baja style factory truck and while the winner may not be clear cut, the TRX Havoc Edition is a pickup for the books!
The limited run Havoc Edition takes a fully loaded TRX and adds some color but the TRX in Baja Yellow is more than just a sight to see, it's just begging to be taken out to the dessert to let its pony's run wild.

You are totally correct! Curb weight is 6,440 lb, GVWR is 7800, and towing is 8,100. I noticed I said this wrong a bit after posting but was like eh not worth deleting and re-uploading for, but thanks for keeping me honest!

I get Avg. 12 City 15.4 Hwy and Towing a 6x12 enclosed with a Commercial Zero Turn I get around 9.5 to 10.5 MPG.....I also am not crazy with my throttle...I use it lol...

Tacoma power is a whole other level 😂 but the change in size alone is a learning curve, can’t fit in as many parking spots! I’m a fan of the hydro blue, I’d like to see a matte slate blue version in the future.

Ram is definitely going for both ends of the spectrum with the two special editions one being Wild and the other subtle, but I absolutely love the lunar ceramic gray color and the blue stitching, that thing is beautiful and might be my first pick. But sadly they are sharing it with the 1500 Rebel so it is a bit more common of a color in the long run.

Hello there! This 6.2 L in the TRX is a petrol engine. There is no diesel option on these trucks. Hope that helps!

That's fair! Sometimes the base stock truck can be the most satisfying. I have a lot of seat time from work in a fleet single cab F-150/250 with the white paint and cloth seats. Always a pleasure when there are no bells or whistles, just a truck.

Yes, the gray Lunar Edition TRX is one of my faves with the blue pin-striping inside, but no, only the 6.2 L V8 Hemi is an option for powertrain.

You can find the havoc for about $110k, 2023 Raptors for about $90k and Raptor R for $150k+. Lots of dollars for a truck!

I’m fine with my 5.7 HEMI with 400 Horsepower with the 3.92 rear end, and she’s quick. I know it’s not the 6.2 supercharged HEMI TRX, but in reality does anyone really need that much power on the street?

Most definitely not! Haha The truck is pure excess, but that’s the fun of the free market, companies can make what they want, and consumers can buy it if they have the money. In reality you would never need anything more that what Toyota puts in any of it’s trucks or cars, they are the epitome of practicality so if a Tundra has 389 HP, very rarely would you actually “need” more. It’s out of enjoyment or desire for anything beyond that and I am glad it’s an option!

I love the 17 speaker Harmon Kardon in my power wagon 75th Molten Orange 9MPG city and 14 MPG HWY. I may trade it in for the this truck. Then do a Corvette Octane yellow wrap sparkle color. No one will no the difference of Baja yellow verus Corvette Octane yellow color on it. 😅

It sounds so good! I bet the value on that truck has held pretty well. The thing with these special editions is it’s purely cosmetic and pin-striping on the interior, so you don’t have to worry about being a special edition, it’s more just making it the style you like, I bet the flake in that sparkle would be incredible looking!

Ah ha!!! You said it comes with 35" goodyear tires. My 2023 1500 limited longhorn has firestone destination 35 12.5 r20- am I right to assume your truck is calibrated to those goodyear 35s? My truck shows 275/55r20 is what it should have, the dealer put the 35s on mine- and I assumed they were calibrated. MPH, MPG AND ODOMETER are off. Dealer says RAM won't allow them to change for my tires, that they put on. Thanks for a good video showing a real monster machine. My msrp is 76,970. WWAAYYY too high.

Good question! The automotive standard is for a truck to be calibrated on the tires size installed from factory, they do all the tilt and roll-over test on what’s installed, and I am sure EPA testing would also have to be performed on factory installed tires. Normally dealers update the calibration if you put a different size tire on, but I have seen a thing on a form that if you go too large say 37s and update the calibration it starts screwing with the rest of system like the parking sensors. Most people accept the inaccuracy when you go above what you should. They said Stellantis is not wanting wanting dealers to use 3rd party software to update calibrations either so maybe that’s what your dealer is dealing with. Probably have to buy a third party tool and do in manually, but not something I’ve had to mess with myself.

It does, 118 because of the T rating on the 35 in tires. Legally not allowed to go over that with these, so you’d have to put smaller higher speed rates tires and unlock the limiter.

That’s fair, they are incredibly pricy! But just like they have homes from $100k to $5,000,000, they have cars in all ranges for every customer type. They don’t sell near as many TRX’s as they do their regular Ram or let alone used trucks, but they make a speciality item for the people out there with the cash to buy it.
