I’m on my 2nd gen2 Raptor (had an 18 I put 45k on got totaled now a ‘20 bought new sitting @ 82k) I was always a GM V8 truck guy but the 3.5HO in the “base” Raptor is pretty damn awesome- w/ a tune it’s like Goldilocks. All I have done is a Gearhead tune, colder plugs, & CAI & it made 443whp/492tq on 93 octane…..probably like 550hp/610tq @ Crank, gets 15mpg combined, 550 mile range w/ a full tank, runs 12.7-12.9 in the 1/4 according to dragy & consistently 0-60 in 4.7-4.9 w/ AWD on & TC/SC off

Nice job on the first start for the flagger! No way to anticipate and it resulted in the most equal race/launch. For some reason the next two races he went back to this anticipatory 3 pulsating drop which creates unequal anticipation. Draggy will always tell the tale but if you want maximum integrity/fairness in head to head races which is way more fun than seeing just Draggy screens, it's worth the starter staying with his race 1 start all the time. Just vary the drop time a touch each start. Another great vid though.

@ that sounds awesome. All I did was put 2 bottle resonators in place of the stock muffler and resonator. Sounds awesome and was a fraction of the price for those budget building. Also put a 5” tip on it. So I’ll get a video of that soon. When you do the leveling kit, just unbolt the lower control arm from the frame side. Much easier.

Love the inclusion of the sound bytes at the end. Thank you for doing that. For me: #1 TRX. More of a throaty response. #2 Raptor R. Is that a cross plane crank? Sounds great, but not as deep of a rumble as the TRX. #3 RHO. Laughable when compared to the other two V8s, but at least there is some mechanical/sound connection there. #4 Rivian. You just have to approach driving this truck differently than the other 3. I would be a fan of Rivian adding in sound, like Hyundai and Dodge have. I'd like to have a mechanical/sound connection to the vehicle while driving, even if it's fake (Andre did his best impersonation of an exhaust note, good job Andre 😂).

Correct. None of those trucks can do the Baja 1000 without modifications. The difference is it’s impossible for the Rivian to do it unless you add an internal combustion engine in the mix somewhere. Either in the truck or running a generator to charge it every few hundred miles.

One of the appreciable cosmetic differences between last gen's TRX and the rest of the RAM range was that aggressively flared fenders on the TRX that I thought the RHO was going to sacrifice or downsize. Seeing them side by side here, I had no idea they were so similar, to the point where one does indeed look like an extension of the other. Naturally the mega Hellcat-sourced engine is going to be a tough sell for a straight six, but I'm still curious to see what the aftermarket can squeeze out of the RHO engine (reliably).

I would drive a Rivian if I wanted a truck that couldn't tow my trailer more than 100 miles. But I don't. So for now I'll stick to my Chevy Bolt for daily beater duties and an ICE truck for towing and offroading. That said, I already checked out Raptors and I just dont have any desire to drive a truck that wide. Even the Supercabs, with the shorter wheel base, still felt huge with the wide fenders. Im not into desert running, I'm mostly on tighter forest trails or on rocks, so it just doesnt work for my use case.

I do agree the supercharger whine of the older TRX is awesome but Cleetus McFarland seized a blowed on a Hellaphant so I'll go with the Raptor R. Time will tell durability of that little 3L tuned to the moon like that! The only noise from the Rivian is the tires begging for mercy on acceleration! That acceleration is insane. Any of those trucks makes my 07 5.4L 3 valve seem like a horse attached to a buggy.

Suggestion for a series - test the performance of a few different trucks, with various engine types, at different altitudes. I'm a fellow front range resident, and when I drive to Illinois to see family, I notice quite a difference in performance from my 6.2L GM engine. This is something you guys point out a lot during these high-altitude tests. Time to demonstrate the actual difference for your audience! Thanks

I wanted I put an AFE air intake on my new TRX and a borla performance exhaust adding 34 HP and 12 lbs of torque to keep up with the Raptor’s R 10 speed and offset the weight difference. I also put the Alcon 6 piston brakes and rotors on the front. It sounds amazing and performs overall much better. Even with those extras add ons it was still cheaper than the Raptor R and I am super happy because in my opinion the TRX is better looking.
