I just put in a lease order last week on this car in Cosmic Blue with the brown Nappa leather, after test driving a Sport XT. I've had 7 straight high-end Accords (loved 'em) but the 2023 is 3" longer than my current 2020 Touring edition, and is now too long for my garage. SO, I put a deposit down on the 2023 Sport Touring CRV, which is currently almost impossible to get. Had a good test drive with the one demo my Honda dealer had but, like the standard Subaru 4, it was quite a bit slower than my 2.0 Turbo/10 speed Accord. In the interim, I test drove both the standard Limited Legacy, and then the XT. Hard to go standard after you drive the XT. Not quite as fast as my Honda, but more than fast enough. Seemed slightly quieter on coarse pavement (the new CRV was, too), and handling was more than good enough for an older dude like me. Very comfortable. Subaru's symmetrical AWD is way more versatile and sophisticated than the CRV's front-to-rear AWD. Stereo should be comparable to the BOSE system in the high end CRV, and I'll love having a CD player again! One reviewer hated the driver attention camera in the Legacy...I'll wait and see...he found it too sensitive when he looked off to the side. I'll be annoyed by always having to turn off the auto on-off pain in the butt feature, but I'll guess that will become second nature. I know in advance the CVT is inferior to Honda's superb 10 speed auto, but since Honda killed that powertrain off in the 2023 anyway, it's a nonissue even if the Accord fit in my garage. Legacy exterior seems plain but reasonably attractive, with the best feature being the grill on the XT. Will miss the eye-grabbing LED front turn signals on the Accord, but that's fairly minor. I know I'll like the SRH LED headlights on curvy roads driving at night, looking out for deer. The LEDs on the Accord made the LED fog lights superfluous, adding no real illumination. I hope the XT fog lamps are more useful. While the exterior is bland, the interior seems quite high-end. I'll like the heated wiper blades, too. Finally, ALL buys and leases cost more now than they did when I leased my Touring Accord. But the lease offer the Subaru dealer came up with is much lower than the current Honda lease on the Sport Touring CRV...big difference! That + the superior hp + torque combo and the many luxury features means I'll be getting my CRV deposit back. The XT Legacy, while imperfect in a few respects, seems like an easy choice over the CRV for the likes of me...even if it reads like an apples-and-oranges comparison.

Haha definitely Apples and Oranges but I love the comparison! Glad you thoroughly have thought through this and decided what you think will be the best decision for you! I think you’ll enjoy the XT, I know I had fun driving the 4/5 2023 legacy trim levels I’ve reviewed! Btw, those 2.0 turbo accords sure were cool Hondas! Thanks for watching. 🙂

I bought the sport with the same 2.4 turbo as the Touring XT. While the sport is not particularly agile compared to a WRX, it does get up to speed pretty fast when you mash the gas.

I’m surprised the XT doesn’t come with S#, it really wakes up the car if you want spirited driving. GPS (draggy) I recorded a 5.7 avg and 5.4 w/1ft rollout on my 23MY at around 160ft above sea level. With less than 2k on the engine, it may even get quicker once the engine has some break in time.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Жыл бұрын
For real though! And yours is hauling, that’s a very nice time. It’s awesome what ‘only’ 260 efficient HP can do these days. Also, one of the pros of living near sea level. 🙂

Agreed. Top touring trim for the price should have had the full driving dynamic suite. That is what Subaru of Canada has with the Legacy GT for 2023…a combined sport and touring model. I am sure most buyers would have taken such a trim at the expense of something like eliminating a CD player and Nappa leather.

My Outback Wilderness with the same motor, although it is likely heavier of course, gets a few tenths of a second quicker 0-60 times due to the lower gearing. Of course I personally offset (and lose) some of this advantage with several sizes larger than stock tires. And I was glad for the lower gearing on that respect, because I still have plenty of torque even with the oversized tires, and my MPG is probably better than rated with the slightly longer final gear (including tire diameter). Had a 2020 a brief time. I liked the interior styling, the way the car drove, and the brilliant adaptive cruise which could be set to how quickly you wanted speed to resume. Hated the cruise control switch (5mph increments), the lane centering that wanted to yank me out of my lane, and the eyesight driver recognition system that developed Alzheimer’s.

It definitely has some pro’s and con’s! You can actually do single mph increments changes by holding the button! Took me a couple months to figure out on my first Subaru. 🙂

@@Doc1855 yes and no. IMO it is too long and mainly has too much ground clearance to be considered a hatchback. Had one for a loaner and it felt like a boat. Comfortable, but too long. @@AutomotiveAnonymous208Aside from the terrible rattling from certain parts of the Legacy like the door panels, dash, moon roof and eye sight.
