Just as an update a year later. It’s still my favorite mod on the Tesla. Love using the app to open and close this thing. If I’m getting food it’s going in the frunk ! People are impressed with the auto function as most don’t have it.

Before connecting the wire, do you need to disconnect the lithium battery connect and the high voltage connection?

No. You just add it on top.

Forgot to ask, the latch where you installed by the front bumper in case the frunk doesnt open, can anyone just go up to it and pop it open or does it only open if yiu are near the car like opening your door?

So for even the stock car you can open frunk from there with a 9V battery. So yes you can open without key, but it should trigger the alarm since there is no person/key detected.

@EATSLEEPJD that sounds like a bad thing it seems.. if if the alarm goes off, it would be a quick get and go situation when the frunk opens up, I may have to relocate that wire then as I don't like tjay idea.. I habe had my car broken into before which is why I am cautious on what can be accessed.

Did you have to re-adjust the latch when you did your first test run or did it fit perfect when you installed the tub back in?

Does this mod void the warranty?

That’s always an interesting question. The general answer is no it does not. But if you break something during installation then technically that wouldn’t be covered by warranty because you did it. But doing this mod will not void warranty, because manufacture have to prove that whatever you caused did the damage. Read up on Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty of your vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of or contributed to the failure of the vehicle (15 U.S.C. 2302 (C))

Does it close with the app?

Yup. Opens and closes with App and also inside on the screen.
