I'm picking up our 2023 LE this Friday evening. Same color and similarly equipped. Really looking forward to it. We waited months for it to come. We also worked out a deal of $805.66 under msrp and a 7.49% 72- month loan through Toyota with $2,000 down. A great deal imo in current financial market. Our old Corolla was bought new in 2007. It has 295k on it and runs fine. It is just rusting underneath in several areas, one by the frame. PA winters are bad with all types of chemicals on the road. I am getting the new car undercoatd and get clear front end bra tape to protect from road damage.

Nice review from a dealership from my hometown of San Jose, CA. This car is basic but fits the needs of anyone who does not need all the more expensive options of the more expensive Corolla models and does not want to buy the optional packages listed for this model. (One note about this car is that some people have complained online about the trunk not being able to close easily. One person also mentioned that it is best to close the trunk by grabbing it above the license plate and not from the top of the trunk which could cause some dings in time on the thin sheet metal of the trunk. Good advice but not sure why Toyota did not make the trunk close much easier like the trunk of my 1998 Camry that I still have after over 25 years and just 141K miles. Yah, these Toyotas DO last a long time with proper care and not driving recklessly.) ☺

@@ceoanimeeditz Thank you for the compliment and I try to take care of my cars. But to be honest, I retired almost 17 years ago at the age of 53 1/2 and no longer had to do long drives anymore for work. Thus, less miles on the car. My 1998 Camry LE does have an oil leak from somewhere in the engine but does not burn oil which is good. But to fix this issue would cost much more than what the car is worth. I am 70 and have had only FOUR cars: two used and two new. I bought this Camry new in October of 1997 and it is the BEST and most reliable car I have ever owned! But yes, the day is coming when I will have to get another car once new and used car prices go down a bit.

Just took delivery of the AWD hybrid version of this vehicle. Very similar to the gas version with some obvious dash control variations. Mine came with the package including the smart key and blind spot warning systems. Hybrid AWD doesn't have the spare tire, nor does it seem to have room for one. The FWD hybrid might take a compact spare in the truck.
@DougCeleste
@DougCeleste Жыл бұрын
Having a spare tire is a must for me for various reasons. I hope you are happy with your new car, Kenneth. I will probably buy a new Corolla LE since the used cars are so overpriced now with high mileage. I would rather pay several thousand more and get a new car.
@KennethScharf

@@DougCeleste Car tech is advancing so fast that used cars should be worth much less than they are selling for as many are now dinosaurs! It burns me up how much more than MSRP my new car cost, but much of the 'extra' was due to Toyota not including fees and 'standard' extras that you can't leave off today. The dealer prep and transportation fees should be part of the MSRP for example. However they have to make their cars look cheaper in the ad's.
@DougCeleste
@DougCeleste Жыл бұрын
@@KennethScharf You make many good points and thanks for sharing. When I go online to the Toyota website, I see the Corolla LE sedan price starting in the high $21K range. But as you stated, that does NOT Include all the extra fees added at the dealerships. At my local dealership, the selling price was around $2K more with those extra fees that you mentioned. And I have NEVER seen used cars so overpriced in my entire life and I am 69! Anyhow, I am hoping to buy around May-July when hopefully, sales people will want to work with buyers more to make room for the 2024 models coming.

It's disappointing that Toyota doesn't offer blind spot as standard. Other makes have been offering them for years. @@Alpha_7227 the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 feature suite is one of, if not the most, advanced safety systems in the entire class. It’s standard and has a ton of features. The Mazda3 doesn’t have BSM standard, most do though. As for the Subaru Impreza, it’s optional. And the Forte doesn’t get BSM or adaptive cruise standard. You don’t even get LED headlights on Forte till you go to the top trim. So, it’s a trade off of features. Yes, other brands have had BSM for years, but it’s been by no means standard for years, and that notion goes for ALL brands. What you said isn’t totally true, they tend to be conservative in some areas, but their newest infotainment is very feature rich and their newest safety tech is a leader. Plus, their newest ‘advanced park’ self parking system is also very impressive.

I've been driving Corollas since 1984. They're economical to buy, insure, repair, and to operate. I went to the dark side and drove three Ford products back in the 1990's. NEVER AGAIN! We just bought a "used" 2023 Corolla LE that had a whopping 208 miles on her at the time of sale. Not sure what the story is on that, but with one minor, but annoying exception, we couldn't be happier. Complaints: The plastic that covers the steering wheel is something I would expect to find in a Hyundai or a KIA....far below Toyota's reputation for quality. (one minor, but annoying exception) A steering wheel cover took care of that. IMO, the "steering wheel technology" (buttons) offers more cures than illnesses, but I'm a paper and pencil guy living in a high-tech world. I will say the backup camera is nice to have. I'm now in my mid 60's, and if it isn't a Toyota or Honda, I won't even test drive it.

Not sure where you got that info about reliability, but the Corolla arguably has strongest reliability track record in the segment, Civic also high up there. Focus isn’t sold in the US anymore. Nevertheless, the Elantra is a good entry. If you want a more special Corolla, they offer the hatchback and other higher sport trims. This LE is the base model and keeps costs very affordable, whereas the civic has gone up in price quite a bit for 2023.

So all these comments are right but there is a way around this. Ask for a base car without all the accessories. You can specifically ask for a vehicle from the manufacturer without it hitting the dealership. Once you have it hit the dealership they put all these fees and markups on it. It also depends if your sales person is nice enough to do that for you.

In terms of tech it’s pretty equal. The safety and driver assistance tech here is TSS 3.0 which is far more feature rich and advanced than the Civic, and the standard Corolla display is larger and also more feature rich with wireless CarPlay.
