Not the first time Amarok has low range, the v6 core model on the previous gen had low range. Specifically for the Aussie market.

Hi, could you please talk more about the suspension differences between the Style & PanAmerikana?
@351tgv

suspension and steering tune are pretty much the same the difference is wheels and tyres, that PanAmaericana has 18" (circumference) x 7.5" (width) alloys with 255/55 all terrain tyres (Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT M+S) while Adventura has 21" (circumference) 8.5" (width) alloys with 275/45 I think they are Continental Contact Sport 5 All Season tyres. In terms of engines, the Core manual signal turbo diesel pretty much is the same as the Ford Transit powertrain/transmission set up that said details about gear ratios and final drive are very hard to come by however it potentially has a 3.94:1 diff ratio so at highway speeds you should easily be able to stay in 6th gear an not haver to downshift to a lower gear that often but at 110km/h I'm guessing engine speed (revs) in 6th will be hovering around 2,300rpm just like it is for Transit which is still well within the torque curve for this engine since torque peaks at 2,500rpm. Do not know how the 10-speed version drives, I'd assume 9and never assume) it drives the same as the ranger version. The sequential turbo (re: Bi-Turbo) with 10-speed drive the same way as ranger does for engine/transmission, no changes were made by VW. The V6 with 10-speed does have different shift points, it's less prone to downshift and instead uses engine torque for in gear acceleration where as the ranger downshifts to a lower gear (which is annoying) in this regard its pretty much the same as the previous Audi / Porches V6 turbo diesel that was used for Amarok. The real gem (well to me) is the 2.3L turbo petrol i4, if anyone says 452Nm is not enough they simply do not understand how torque curve works, the engine develops 452Nm from 2,000rpm and holds it all the way to 4,500rpm, from a dynameter view point that is 99kW at 2,000 and at peak torque its 213kW, which is 114kW smack bang in the mid range where you need and want it to be, the transmission has no need to jump around downshifting and upshifting at all. it relies on torque to do the job, the only downside is fuel consumption when towing, everywhere else provided you don't drive like you stole it fuel consumption is around the 12 to 13L per 100km range and that is very acceptable when you look at what the turbo diesel V6 n both ranger and Amarok does which is around 10 to 11L per 100km.

@@351tgv Thanks, but VW says the PanAmericana has upgraded suspension (more comfortable and off road orientated) - I would like to know the differences between the style & PanAmericana suspension if you ever make a video like that.

@@wetwaterfish The main changes are i the dampers tuning, the PanAmerican and Adventura have monotube dampers, upgraded bushes, upgraded front spring rates and larger diameter anti-roll bar, steering rack ratio is also tighter and VW have changed the electric motor sensor setting, the best way to describe it is the electric steering feels heavy at the straight ahead and on initial angle change before the motor kicks in and starts to provide assistance (similar to how a electro-hydraulic power steering set up would be) which is linear in progression (re: firm), it feels very similar to the previous gen Amarok, its about as good as Ranger but more sharper faster even though its got weight. I have only briefly driven the CORE and from what I could tell it felt the same as standard Ranger since its pretty much a carry over of the suspension however steering is heavier and progressive but also remember that the CORE rides on 17"x7.5" alloys with 235/65 tyres (I think they are Continental tyres, that said not 100% sure as I said it was a very brief drive). The STYLE is pretty much like the equiv XLT in suspension but again the steering is heavier and sharper. remember the previous gen Amarok had a hydraulic steering (re: engine driven pump) rack and its very hard to replicate that great road feel with electric steering set up, VW have done a great job on that end, road feel is pretty decent through the steering wheel. is it better than Ranger? for on-road from my perspective it is, however off road? I have not had the chance yet to test it out, the one thing that irritates me about ranger is steering wheel kickback when in 4A (and this goes way back to the original Everest AWD) to me it feels nervous but that could be just me as I am no fan of electric steering, give me a good electro-hydraulic set up that FORD of EUROPE used to on on there cars before the idea of ONE FORD destroyed that.

“Now has low range gearing, which is a first for the Amarok” That’s incorrect, The amarok has alway had low range, just not in the auto, so it’s definitely not a first.

well you could say its a first for automatic based transmission Amarok.

Consider four-cylinder turbo petrol as 2.0 TSI from a Golf GTI or a high-performance 2.3 four cylinder turbo petrol from Ford Mustang Ecoboost.

Amarok is based on the Ranger and shares most parts, it is essentially a Ranger with some tweaks, it would be strange not to mention it all the time.
