Maureen, an alumni of our flagship Learning & Leadership Center in Kafue, Zambia, excelled during her two-year scholarship tenure at SUNY Schenectady County Community College. Not only was she the Class of 2024 Student Keynote Speaker, she was inducted into the USA Today Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society All-New York Academic Team. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in higher education, serving nearly 1,300 colleges in all 50 states and eleven countries. All of the inductees had to exemplify leadership and service and achieve an impressive 3.65 or higher GPA.
Maureen has served as Vice President of the International Club and as the College's Student Trustee, representing the student body, participating in important decision-making processes, and advocating for student needs with the Board of Trustees. She has also served as a member of the Student Activities Board, on the Student Government Association, as a member of the student Budget and Finance Committee, and she volunteers at the City Mission of Schenectady.
To say that we are proud of Maureen is an understatement. As one of the many amazing students who have attended our Center in Zambia, we realize that students like Maureen just need doors of opportunity opened for them so that they can spread their wings and fly. Congrats Maureen!
