I'm so tired of the constant reports by the automotive press about reliability. We've owned four new Alfas, including a Giulia QV and a Stelvio QV. They all have been rock sold after four years of ownership. So for a brand that is characterized as unreliable, I don't buy it. I'm also a member of the Alfa Owners Club, again no one is complaining about reliability. I've owned unreliable new Porsches, Audis and Mercedes Benz cars. Yet, they are never described as unreliable. I'm convinced this false reporting on Alfas has killed the brand in the USA.

JD Power Reliability Survey 2023 UK - second most unreliable executive car Reliability rating 77.3% The Alfa Romeo Giulia may look drop-dead gorgeous and be great to drive, but it’s less fun to live with. Overall, 44% went wrong, with a third being out of action for more than a week. Although Alfa Romeo paid for 72% of repairs, 17% of owners faced bills in excess of £1000. The main bugbears were batteries, electrics and the engine.
@chaseclouse28404 ай бұрын
I second this. I've had my guilia since 2017. 167,000k (miles) on the dash, no issue at all. Aside from standard maintenance, the only repair I've made was to a blower motor switch. That's it. Because of this experience, I purchased a 2019 QV, currently with almost 50k miles, again not a single issue whatsoever. Flash forward to 2023, I purchased yet another Alfa for my spouse. Stevlio veloce. With nearly 15k on it, no issues whatsoever. My Honda Accord didn't even last 100,000k before having major engine repairs prior to getting into the Alfa Romeo lineup, so this bias against Alfa for unreliability is just ridiculous. They are truly great vehicles.

Take surveys like the UK 2023 one with a pinch of salt. The same survey has the Stelvio as one of the most reliable large SUVs and it has same mechanicals and electricals as the Giulia. It beat all the german cars on the list.

I agree 100% with you all! Same experience as you, great car, fun to drive since day one, definitely reliable/more reliable than several other brands out there. About the driving experience, it’s just next level. Who said the opposite doesn’t understand performance cars.

And 2024 Gorgio platform based cars ARE reliable because they are very much sorted out in their product cycle. I am buying a QV Giulia this month (picking up on Friday 31st 🙂). One of the last "real cars" available. 5 Year/100k km warranty also helps the confidence.

i’ve had like 8 Beemers over four decades. I’d say my three Giulia’s have been far more reliable than each and every one of them. Parts are a bit harder to find and often more expensive but not by much. Tragic that they are retiring the Petrol versions soon, but Epic is the drive each and every day I drive my QV! 😊

I have 2017 Ti at 97,000 miles. Still beautiful, when I wash and wax it people think I have a 2021 or 2022. I have replaced AC compressor, and a coolant plug (plastic!!) failed. That's it. Leather dash has not lifted, seats still butter soft with no cracking (and I live in Texas). Use GOOD oil (Mobil 1 ESP/Pennzoil Euro LX/Castrol/Motul; every 5K miles. Replace the spark plugs every 60K (NGK Iridium only --- $12 each at a Dodge dealer). If you see crazy warning lights all of sudden, replace the battery first. That's it. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Also you can only use premium gas. Probably the most heartbreaking thing I learned about this car, even moreso than the battery, because it's the first Italian car I've actually liked the look of. If I ever won like half a million dollars it would be too of my list to buy. 60k for the car, 300k for the gas.

No doubt the best looking performance sedan on the planet! I have a series 4 - the last of the petrol Quadrifoglios. Like you say it is docile as a daily driver and an absolute beast on the weekend. There aren’t many over here in Australia so they really stand out on the road from all the Audis, BMWs and Mercedes. I think it will become a future classic for sure. I must say that the infotainment is a bit outdated… but the driving experience more than makes up for that. That’s why you buy a car such as this! ❤ Fantastic review, rather than just a presenter sliding and smoking the wheels around a track.

I thoroughly researched the reliability prior to purchasing my 2020 Giulia over a year ago. The early cars had a few issues, low batteries and a couple electrical relays would put the car on a flat bed, those in the know didn't suffer this fate. Plastic fittings on coolant lines are an issue, typical with modern cars. Major components on this car are dead reliable, no subframe cracks, cylinder bore, bearing , transmission issues one sees with some other brands I won't mention. I do all my own maintenance, have the needed software and sgw bypass to reset parameters, so I have hands on experience with maintaining this car, no ridiculous engineering complexity, thus far everything has been straightforward, no more difficulty than my Toyota or couple of Fords. Parts are not as readily available as other cars, also a bit expensive, still, not bad. Finally, for the few issues they have, more reliable upgrades are available from Alfa specialists. Love my Giulia, the driving experience is exceptional!

Stop saying these cars are Unreliable. I am on my second Giulia and they both were trouble free. JD Power just ranked Alfa Romeo at the top of the chart. Other European brands like BMW are horrendously unreliable. Jesus christ. Honestly, the real issue is the lack of dealers...... This may not be a good car to own if you don't have the support of a decent dealer network. THAT is what makes them a slightly riskier proposition.

You’d be wrong. In the UK we’d get our data from JD Power Reliability Survey that gets its data from manufacturers published warranty claims data. The Alfa shown here is the second most unreliable executive car 2023 in the uk. Alfa has NEVER had a great reputation for reliability, ever. So I’d suggest you research the data and get your facts correct before stating ‘I’d suggest’ like you’re an authority.

Well given that you are standing in front of a Quadrofoglio. A G70 is not in any way a competitor to the car you are introducing. So you can’t be seriously comparing the Quadrifoglio to a G70. Last I checked even the turbo G70 was hardly quicker than a turbo 2.0 Giulia. P. S. All quads have CF roofs. The option is painted or exposed.

“If you forget about …. maybe the unreliability of this car”? Did you actually own one and speaking from personal experience vs other cars you’ve owned/ currently own? Or are you perhaps in possession of any technically verified, peer reviewed and trusted backing up data for such a claim? If not, and if I were you, I’d have some serious concerns about being liable for defamation.

It’s so funny, everyone who has not had an Alfa talks about the reliability but everyone who has owned one says it’s actually really reliable. I’d take people’s opinion who actually owns the car vs people who just parrot what they hear on the internet. Also, not everyone wants a huge weirdly placed iPad on the center. I much rather have the dash swoop down beautifully and it hides the infotainment screen. I don’t need a huge screen to tell me what song I’m listening to or looking at the gps.

What a superficial review with some inaccuracies. Eg those rear lights are only new now in North America, but otherwise introduced in 2019 and across all models, the brakes have not been upgraded with this facelift. The suspension and LSD have. Also, this looks to be Verde Fangio metallic (or the pretend Verde Montreal that is no longer a tricoat). Finally, this is a Series 4 and there is now a Series 5 in the rest of the world, with improved autonomous driving from the Tonale.
