Just bought this car I am so exited to get at the end of november we are using it as a replacement for my range rover sport phev and this bmw is awesome really recommend it.

I do like how automakers are learning they need to put in powerful enough electric motors to actually move the vehicle around without it feeling like pulling teeth just getting to 45 mph.

Bought one a few months ago. Spent most of its time in service. Learned that there are major issues with high volt batteries. So many posts on BMW forums with similar issue. BMW has agreed to buy it back. So sad because the car is amazing. Unfortunately for me it was not a good experience.

Those reflections on the driver info display is dangerous when driving during the day 4:07. Nice review btw! I think this goes head on against XC60 T8 PHEV, range and powerwise.

The 2024 GLE 450e and the 2024 Cayenne E-Hybrid also are proper comparisons. I'm looking to trade in my XC60 T8 ER for likely either the GLE 450e or the Cayenne E-Hybrid; perhaps THE most frustrating thing about the XC60 is having all the climate controls in sub-menus instead of physical buttons/switches (like the 450e and E-Hybrid do have, but the X5 50e does not have), and that's why I won't seriously consider the X5 50e even though it has a better engine than the 450e has and is cheaper to buy than the E-Hybrid is. Kyle Conner did a city-driving (< 45 mph) range test on the GLE 450e and got 67 miles of all-electric range; I hope he does an X5 50e range test soon. My XC60 T8 is also inferior because the electric motor only powers the rear axle, and the ICE only the front axle -- the problem being that, as I like to drive locally in all-electric mode, the wheels are always slipping, even on dry pavement. These other vehicles have AWD in electric-only mode.

BMW pricing is always a scam. The base car is useless; you need the optional equipment to get a decent vehicle, but that sends the price way up. Total bait and switch. 22 mph on toxic gasoline is expensive and bad for the environment.

Have you tried to see how much all-electric range you can get in city driving (< 45 mph)?

I average around 35-40 mph over a 12 mile trip. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower, depending on how stupid the people in the DMV elect to be on any given day.

The X5 is a lot cheaper. You can get one fully loaded for less than the starting price for the Porsche. That’s why I’m choosing the X5.

@@hojichaisfarsuperiortochai9309 Yes, but almost everything else about the X5 is worse than the Cayenne. One of the things you're paying for in the E-Hybrid is that you can option so many things a la carte -- instead of in packages with stuff you don't want/need, like BMW and Mercedes and Volvo does things. And the new Cayenne has physical buttons/switches for climate controls, unlike the X5 50e. I'd personally go for the GLE 450e over the X5 50e because of its excellent all-electric range and ability to DC fast-charge, together with physical climate toggle buttons and better-looking screens. Also it looks like the X5 50e can't charge the traction battery from the ICE (something that the Cayenne E-Hybrid, the Volvo XC60 T8, and even the RAV4 Prime can all do); the GLE 450e can't do that either, but it has DC fast-charging capability to partially make up for no ability to charge the traction battery on long road trips. As a true PHEV, the X5 50e falls really flat for this reason alone.

@@nicholaswoodcock7449 I’ve decide to wait until 2025. That is when bmw will integrate with Tesla chargers. I’m not a Tesla fan but I live in Texas and Buc-ees has Tesla chargers. I think there is an adapter now but I think waiting a year is more prudent. I’m also planning to get a 440i convertible. I prefer the new face look. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Honestly, I’m still considering an X7 but they’ve not come out with a PHEV version so that a bit of a road block for me.

It's really odd to be driving a car with 19 miles of gas range (what's that, 2/3 of a gallon of gas left?) and 19 miles of electric range (4:43). That doesn't make the dealership look very good.
