Great tournament. I like how things went. Seems like there was some negativity you were getting on how it played out. For me, it was fun to watch. I do like the idea for next year. Having the same drinks does allow better discussion. Having Kent in there does allow for a tie breaker. Loser's bracket is also a great idea. I'm looking forward to next year. PS... yes, it was hard to hear Kent at first, but as the video went on, I got used to it. I liked his recap.

Yes, a seeded bracket is brutal for underdogs, but they do it to "protect" the highest seeds from hitting each other in early rounds. In football/soccer cups, they just pull names out of the hat each round, so you get some powerhouse matchups early, and some teams get an easier path. It's all luck. The method I use for the BookTube Prize also cuts the field in half each round, but without a set bracket. One of the things you mentioned more than once is that you wished you could advance both A and B, and eliminate C and D, but couldn't because of the brackets. My group structure might be the way to solve that. Just thoughts... I do think from a viewing perspective, it's a little confusing having two separate tournaments. I'd love to see you tasting the same things each round, but adding a third judge (Kent or Michelle?) so that there can't be any ties. (I'm here for you if you want to do something like this. I live for setting up competitions/events.) -- Sorry for the graduate thesis-length post. 🤦‍♂

If I had a suggestion for future years. I would keep all finished and double barrel products out as well as single barrels that really vary batch to batch. Do a separate finished double barrel bracket. To celebrate those achievements…. That way it’s strictly a more even playing field. I’d also live to see ryes get there own bracket😊

The MM101 beating JD12 made me go buy a bottle of MM101 as it was a makers I hadn't tried. It's in exact parity in enjoyment for me with Turkey 101 and OF 100. A mixer that you can sip and enjoy. If I ordered it at a bar, I wouldn't order another. I will say it's worth the extra 20% over the standard Makers... but that's about the nicest thing I can say about it. $40 bottle that competes with $20-30 bottles... not a prize in my book. How it beat something like Jack 12, I will never understand. Must be the cauliflower. To put it in perspective... I'd expect Cellar Aged vs Jack 12 to be a legit fight... and if I got a blind of MM101 next to cellar aged... I'd laugh and ask if you were serious. Pretty stark/obvious quality disparity.

My Gosh will someone teach Trenton something to do with sports if you going to have a March madness bracket. Tape his eyes open and tie him up in front of the TV. @@RobGuy199 “Sad state of society” you say? it’s just whiskey man. I was able to make it to Glenn’s Creek a couple weeks back and it really is great stuff, but to each their own. No hard feelings. According to Dave, when I was down there, he’s met Kurt and Trent twice, so that’s the level of friends they are, for what it’s worth. Maybe, just maybe, they had the same feeling I did when I left there and that was to really root for Dave being the underdog and hope he succeeds on his journey.
