GM has always been known for the best ride in the HD market. Independent front suspension is a big part of that!
@specforged5651 Жыл бұрын
And the reason I will never buy another GM HD truck until they change it. There’s a reason the others have trailing arm/link coil over suspension. That torsion bar shit is unbelievably outdated and is just garbage for an HD truck. I’ve owned two so I’m not just armchair quarterbacking it here ans do not have any brand loayalty. I go with what impresses me and is more sound mechanically. I’ve had a new Ram 3500 each of the last five years and they honestly were great. However, now that the Ford has changed the interior and given the Powerstroke another bump that is what got me excited. Granted my Powerstroke has 2300 miles on it but I’ve already ordered a 24’. I’m very impressed with the HO motor and that takes a lot.

@@gabrielback5615 My experience exactly. And honestly I wouldn’t say they ride any “better.” I think better is a relative term. Better to me means solid, tight and like a one ton truck should ride. They appear to ride smoother because they have lighter duty parts in them. Not to mention they have so many connection points, bushings, rod ends, etc, etc they start to feel loose, make a lot of noise and wear tires in a short time. The Fords and Rams just feel more solid and robust. Stick your head under there and it’s easy to understand why.

These loop tests are instructive but there are a variety of factors going into mpg. What I've found on my '22 GMC Sierra AT4 6.2L here on the Gulf Coast (low altitude) is that speed is the single biggest factor affecting mileage. Around town the 6.2L does ok, 15-16 mpg avg. Hwy figures at Texas interstate speeds (80+) only improves to 17-18 mpg, but if I'm traveling 2 lane country roads at say, 70 mph or less, the mileage jumps to 19-20 mpg. I think the ride height w/ 2" factory lift is a big culprit. Can't fault the GM engine or the 10-speed auto... they're a wonderful combo.
@GettingAGrip208 Жыл бұрын

Did they fix the trailer TPMS of only 100psi? What about the bed camera, can you zoom in for hitching a fifth wheel?
@zacharymorris99176 ай бұрын
This is NOT REAL WORLD TESTING. If the truck was deleted, sure. But it's not. Testing a modern emissions equipped diesel's MPG at low total mileage is ALWAYS misleading. A short trip like 100 miles is also ALWAYS misleading. If it regens, the results will be abnormally low. If it doesn't regen, the results will be abnormally high. You have to put enough miles on to foul the DPF, and you have to test a long enough trip that it definitely catches a normal regen cycle. Even if you control for those variables, when the DPF starts to clog, MPG will drop off sharply.
@marcelo403polo23 ай бұрын
my 24 at4x goes to regen every 200 miles. I don't get it why so often. LML in past before deleting it, it was once a tank of fuel, like every 600 miles
@zacharymorris99173 ай бұрын
@marcelo403polo2 yes sir. That's exactly my point. A clean tune will extend the regen interval dramatically. You can thank the EPA for having such a dirty tune. How ironic that they force manufacturers to make a "polluting" tune just to force the owner to burn extra fuel to clean the "polutting" tunes exhaust filter. So obviously counter productive.

60-70 psi tire pressure? Is that normal for these trucks or is it set that high just to get better MPG?
@tannergregg4190 Жыл бұрын
This very normal. At work we run 70psi front and 80psi rear on our 2500 trucks.

@chucknSC Жыл бұрын
When pumped, Diesel fuel makes a lot of foam on top. You aren’t going to get an accurate volume measurement using a station pump. The only way to get anywhere near the actual mileage is on a full tank or use a glass container, etc. Or just use the trucks computed numbers.
@PoliticallyIncorrectMechanic Жыл бұрын
With having an average speed under 40mph that sounds ok. I was more interested in what it averaged on the highway. My 05 2500hd 4x4 consistently got 22-24mpg on the highway as long as I was nice to her. I expect this truck to be better than or at least even that. Especially with 10 gears.

Love it...Awesome truck , so much better than electric truck. I would like to see a challenge been a gas or diesel truck vs a electric truck. I know the gas truck will win by a long shot. Electric loses so much range once you put it to towing or even turning on the a/c or heater you lose half the range.

Have you noticed dead pedal in the 24 Duramax? I just did a test drive on a 24 LTZ. From a dead stop if you hit the throttle quick at least 1/4 or 1/3 down, it had dead pedal for almost 3 seconds. I mean i hardly responded then hit real hard. Also driving around the diesel just didn't seen responsive till it spooled up. I found it rather annoying. Seemed like a lot of turbo lag. What's your experience? Did the truck learn and improve?

That isnt bad considering the truck hasent broken in yet. I owned a 2015 Denali HD Duramax short bed with a 26 gal tank. After about 25k miles I would average around 670 miles per tank! At roughly sea level. Not towing obviously. When towing and in the mountains. I would Average around 17 to 19 mpg
