Long post ahead but hear me out. I have a background in marketing and my observation is the pricing difference comes down to how Ford and Chevy are positioning their trucks in the CONSUMER market. Simply put, Ford is positioning their trucks as premium products and Chevy has decided to position their trucks as the value leader. Ford is always emphasizing where their trucks are best in class; like light weight aluminum body, most powerful gas V8 engines, most powerful diesel engines, highest tow capacity, highest payload etc. Ford also offers luxury features not found on Chevys like panoramic sunroofs and massaging seats. Chevy is going to market their trucks as the alternative that gives you 90% of what Ford can do for less money. Chevy is going to focus more on their truck being for the average Joe and their history of building hard working trucks. You won't ever hear them say "best in class" (because they aren't in most categories) but they will advertise their trucks towing and carrying heavy loads with a blue collar guy behind the wheel. This is to emphasize that a Chevy can do that also but for less money. They will also appeal to their loyal fan base. However, notice that in the commercial area Ford flips it and is much more competitive on price with Chevy to position Ford as the better value. They will have a XL at a very similar price as a Chevy WT but still have the best in class advantages. More power, payload and tow capacity than Chevy for almost the same money. Here the Ford will look like the one that gives you more for the money. You also have to look at the entire product lineup to see how this is playing out. Over at Ford you have your regular Fords but also the Bronco, Bronco Raptor, F-150 Raptor and Raptor R and the upcoming Ranger Raptor. Chevy has the ZR-2 for the trucks but nothing to compete with the Broncos. And even then the ZR2 it's not really a direct competitor for the Raptors. Here you can see how Ford is positioning Ford trucks as a premium product. That Ford logo on your XLT F-350 is also on that Raptor and Bronco that everybody wants. Most business scholars will tell you Ford has the better strategy. People will buy what they can afford but will always aspire to have the premium product. Ram has done this transition brilliantly. Ram used to be the cheapest truck you could buy but they slowly and methodically reinvented Ram as a luxury truck. And to solidify that premium product affiliation they came up with the TRX and Hellcats as halo products and pushed the Mopar name to tie all the brands together so you know Jeep, Dodge and Ram are the same company. You never want to have the product people settle for, you want to have the product people want.

@@khakiswag never understood on why have 2 competing truck in the same market ford did the same thing and took it off the market ASAP with the lincoln f 150 and took that and made the platinum f150. i def think GM has some knuckle heads in upper management who dont understand.

The 23 Ford F450 with 6.7 HO, wide track turning , Dana M315 rear axle with 4.30s is hard to beat. Ill take the Ford, but you have a nice chevy.

That's the Dana M315(12.4" ring gear) the M300 is only available in the DRW gasser and SO diesel. The M300 is 11.8" ring gear.

The ford has way more payload than the Chevy. so the suspension in chevy is not as strong as the ford

I grew up a Ford person but I ordered a Silverado HD just because of all the options I can add for the price of a basic XLT. Ford doesn't let you option out much without moving up trim levels.

Dodge Ram Man! I am. The Ford Stronger. Chevy front independent suspension weak link! Ford #1 in heavy duty suspension too! Hey Cowboy don't get me wrong the Chevy nice but the 37" tires you are asking for trouble. #1 big Brody tires will kill the suspension. You know that solid axel's are for heavy duty towing. #2 Your vehicle under factory warranty? You can lose your warranty because the 37" tires you put on. Now the dealership tells you your warranty voided because you put oversize tires! So Be Careful. And for a bonus. GM makes heavy duty towing trucks? It's the GMC truck not Chevy brand! That 6.7 Ford is stronger! When it comes to towing. Speed not the key? It's torque 1200ft! Now who is A# king of the 🛣️ ²? On paper it's Ford 6.7 compound turbos! No competition

Maybe… but the Ford only had 74k miles on it, meticulously maintained and left my family and toy hauler on the side of the road in the middle of the desert twice, and of course Ford tried to deny any repairs. It was a nice truck but for us, it was time to try something else.

You forgot to point out that the ford’s leaf springs are also thicker than the GM leafs. So more leafs isn’t just flat out better.

@@SurelyYewJestactually, GM is known for not listing the vehicle specific numbers on the payload/towing stickers. That payload and towing capacity is not correct for that specific Chevy. You have to go to a GM app and enter you VIN and some other info to get your correct payload info based on your truck’s configuration and options. As a GM fan, I hate this fact. Both Ford and Ram have payload/towing information stickers that accurately reflect the specific truck, configuration and options that the sticker is placed on.

I just bought the 24 LTZ 2500HD duramax and i love it. I love Cummins and power-stroke also! It comes down to preference. I don’t like the Bosch fuel pumps or the greatly needed transmission update for the 6 speed in the RAM. Might as well have a three speed on the column!😂

The bed view camera should come with the gooseneck prep package. GM forces you into expensive option packages to get it.

​​​​@@Billybob50119tried to order it separately on a Sierra 3500 SLE, no can do. It requires the HD Pro Safety package, which then adds another package. The $250 camera turns into $3,780 in options.

Your Chevy looks nice but my next truck after the F350 is a F450 Lariat rigged out with the HO 6.7 and gooseneck options. I will get a lot of the niceties that I want without the higher trim level, cost will be higher but the turning radius is important when hauling. I have kept my truck mostly stock except for adding a 12k winch. Will make it easier to sell. Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the video. I have a '24 3500 LTZ. If your differential holds extra fluid, the cooling fins are not as necessary. I like the information screens (measurements) on the Ford's screen. Apparently, user feedback is why the Chevy's HVAC controls are not digital. My Chevy has 360-degree camera views. Yes, the Chevy should have a larger fuel tank. Titan fuel tanks offers a 60-gallon version.

Take a Peterbilt truck and de-rate it; It still will has more power more braking, better tires just tows better, The same with the F450.

As a 2 time going on maybe 3 time F450 owner I have to give you credit for your video. You explained everything perfectly. I actually just went and looked at a 3500 Chevy and I was impressed with it for the price but I do tow a 45 foot fifth wheel and the 450 is the tow master. I am seriously going to take another look at the Chevy or GM before my next 450.

For starters, you still have to go into the app to find your ACTUAL tow rating on your Chevy. Unless they changed it for 2024, it’s been discussed before, the #’s on the door are misleading. 2nd; as you said, the #’s on the ford are debated to meet 14k, but that same rear axle on the cab & chassis trucks is rated for around 13k & the front around 7500.

The one missing data point here is that the pickup F-450 is actually a Class 3 truck since its maximum factory GVWR is 14,000lbs like your Class 3 Silverado 3500. This is also why the pickup F-450 has an unimpressive payload figure. Aft of the cab, the pickup F-450 and the chassis-cab F-450 are different products; the chassis-cab version has a higher payload but lower towing (not by much). So what you have is the classic distinction between the Silverado and the Ford, with Ford trading ride quality and handling for maneuverability in the 19.5 wide-track front axle setup, and GM focusing more on ride quality than maneuverability with the IFS and heavier duty springs and axles. I am fairly shocked GM couldn't have put the 360 camera setup on yours...at the LTZ level I just expect those kinds of things. But, I have noticed that Super Duties seem to have available 360 cameras no matter how low the trim is. Even if you added cameras though, the increase would be what, $500-800 from the factory? it definitely would not make an LTZ thousands more expensive.

If you look at his window sticker, his truck only has a few options. I know there are many more available, 360 cameras are probably one of those that didn’t get chosen.

I'm a Ford fan boy and with that said I still have to admit that you have a beautiful truck! The F450 is the tow master of Ford's heavy duty trucks so if you need a truck for with more payload capabilities you'll go with the F350. Check out the number of the F350 against your truck for a better payload comparison.

GM makes a 4500, it's just a different chassis and as far as stock Continental tires on the Ford, they're the first thing you want to change or throw out. Terrible tires. Thay being said. I love your truck. Pretty badass and I own a 450.

I'm towing 15k lb toy hauler with a 2016 3500 Duramax. The ride is smooth and we don't have any problems even when loaded with another 1200lbs of machines. We have thought about switching to a Ram or a 350 but Chevy makes em sexy.

That Chevy looks pretty darn good. That turning radius and HP though on the ford, takes it. I’m not a fan boy either I’ve owned both, in fact own an Srw 1 ton gmc but have a 450 on order. Towing an 18000lb fifth wheel

I know Ford have been able to show the gear you are in for the last 10+ years. I have a 2013 F-150 FX4 with the larger center dash info center, and when I press the +/- on the shifter, that's when it shows the gear on the display. I can turn it on or off, and then if it's shown, and I press - on it, I can take gears away to lock them out so they won't go to it. Other trucks I have been in also do it, 2018 F-250, 2019 F-150 and F-250 all worked the same way. It will not shift to any gears or do anything except to display 1-6 or 1-10, pressing - will take away 6 or 10, then 5 or 9 etc. Pressing it quickly will make it turn off and go away. It will only work to manually change gears like a manual trans if it's in M mode. On your Chevy if you are in D, and press the +/- on the shifter, will it show it then? Not talking about going to the L, but staying in D and hitting them.

This is from my personal perspective from work. From purely a performance standpoint the f450 is a level ahead of other trucks. It pulls more than others and it's not even straining. Way better turning too. Now the pricing and luxury appeals can certainly go either way depending on your tastes. The chevy might win that.

Coming from an engineering background if you have to tell more than 22,000 pounds then I highly recommend the F450 because the turning apparatus is amazing compared to the 3500 Ramen silver. However if all you need to under 22,000 or less than a super duty or a F250 would do the job . If you’re doing something specific like towing horses or cows on a trailer then get the Delta

F450 is for towing F350 is for hauling GCWR for gooseneck or 5th wheel: F450 48,000lbs F350 43,900lbs. Bumper tow: F450 30,000# vs F350 28,000# I drive a F450 for the tight turning radius and the fact I tow 80# and haul 20% - literally a no brainer.

The F450 is extremely underrated. Look at the axle housing and axle shafts....look at the front axle and the turning radius etc. Ford did this to keep it in the Class 3 segment. Legally the F450 carries less than the F350

The F450 pickup uses the same axle (Dana M300 housing -usually 11.8" ring gear with 12.4" ring gear - Dana M315) as the diesel F450 and F550 chassis cabs. The rear axle weight rating is artificially low on the F450 pickup with the same axle being rated at 15,500 lbs in other applications.

If I had to choose one of the two truck, it’ll be the Ford f450, not bc it may be a better truck or tow more but bc I like the overall appearance of the ford over the Chevy, I also currently have a Chevy 1500

The Chevy can tow more since the ford and Chevy have similar GVWR but the f450 is heavier overall since it has the wider axle and beefier rear suspension.

The last gen Ford looked better. I think most now prefer the Chevy and GMC look over the new Ford that is pretty boring and non-aggressive looking

@@Mjwest23 I do discuss a bit last Ford was very blocky I just sold my 2020 tremor and opted for a f350 dually. Really to me seems totally different even in a dual wheel the ride is impressive the seats are totally reduced and way more comfy than the GM products

Looking between the 2 .. one thing iv noticed at used trucks is gmc/checy trucks interiors do not hold up as good as superdutys .

Not gonna lie, the current F450 is a hard package to beat. Lol the new options on them they make damn good work trucks. But that new Silverado is far and away the sexiest on the road right now if you ask me. If ram and Chevy would step up and add a wide track front axle option. The F450 would have a run for its money

I wish that Ford and chevy and Ram would do old hard body style trucks with flare sides or doing some classic throwback trucks like the HighBoy or even making a Ranger 250 HIgh Boy truck and have chevy do a Cheyenne 4x4 hard body truck and Ram do a hard body little red Express. I love the old school hard body trucks

These are basically a 1 1/2 to 2 ton trucks made for hauling heavy loads almost like a 18 wheeler not for tall off road mudding truck, if I want a mudding truck I'd buy a high country or tremor

If you want to see all the gauges that Chevy doesn’t show you and more just buy a cts3 I got one with the pulsar tuner for my 21 duramax. I can see what gear I am in and if it’s locked and so much more. I think the cts3 is like 300-400 bucks just plugs into your obs2

Excellent review both companies make great trucks but i wish gm would get rid of their junk IFS I hated my IFS so bad that I did an solid axle swap on my 08' sierra and my 22' Ltz and I love it and didn't look back👍🏿

I have the same Chevy but in the 2500. I love the IFS. It makes a major difference in ride quality…. I know.. everyone talks about the strength of the IFS compared to the solid axle. The truth is the IFS is fine and will have no strength issues. If your rock crawling and putting your front suspension under tremendous stress, then i could see the need for a solid axle. Let be honest, most of us are never rock crawling! I know I’m never doing it, so I’m fine with the IFS.

@@Rcol4427 I have a 1000+ pound snowplow for my 08' 3500 HD with a duramax engine and that IFS didn't like all that weight on the front end at all. One year I was snowplowing and I busted the aluminum front differential case, talk about mad🤦🏿‍♂️

If anyone thinks that's the 46+ moving points of the GM front IFS is just as strong or stronger than the 11 loints on a SFA. Just the pivot points and ball joints(3 per control arm x4) out number the entire SFA design. I'm waiting for someone to say that the rear IFS is stronger that the old live axle on the tahoe/sub/yukon/escalade. As a professional driver, I drive real vehicles everyday. We have busses with IFS systems rated at 16,500lbs(MCI J 4500). They drive nice, but they are far louder than the Prevost competition(live axle) and the Prevost drives better. These are $750k highway coaches but at 90k miles in every one of the J4500s we have got clunky and it drives you nuts listinging to the front suspension pound away for 13 bours a day. The only j4500 that didn't pound away in our fleet. Started doing it mid trip back in May when I was returning from NYC to Ontario Canada. I personally prefer the ride of my F350 over the fide of my wife's F150. On the same roads the super duty is better, only place it is not "better" in the larger potholes.

@@jnk26 I never said it was stronger. I said it is strong enough to hold up for all driving condition aside from major off-roading or rock climbing which most never do with their 100K trucks. If you comparing large buses and highway coaches, your in the wrong forum!

For the same money or even a bit more my choice would be on the Super Duty F450. I’ve owned several f350 DRW trucks over the years. That wide track front axle is a game changer in the drivability of a dual rear wheel truck. Also, I’ll take the larger brakes of the F450 as well. I can go on and on, but those are the two main reasons why the F450 would be my choice. It is currently.

Ford would win apple to apple. F450 cost more than an F350.Also around $2500 more for the upgraded diesel. Just throwing some gas on the fire. Plus I'm watching your videos so you can upgrade to a Ford F450. Like you ask in another video. lol Plus the F350 you can get 4:10 gearing.

9:31 Actually GM is known for NOT listing the vehicle specific numbers on the payload/towing information stickers. That payload and towing capacity is not correct for that specific Chevy. You have to go to a GM app and enter you VIN and some other info to get your correct payload info based on your truck’s configuration and options. As a GM fan, I hate this fact. Both Ford and Ram have payload/towing information stickers that accurately reflect the specific truck, configuration and options that the sticker is placed on. Also, the GM trucks run a single stage engine brake as opposed to the Ford’s 2 stage engine brake. This allows for better control in downhill descents. I, myself have always loved GM trucks. Specifically Chevy’s (at least until the new styling on the heavy duty’s, GMC’s are still beautiful) However, I have to admit that your assessment of the differences is more based on cosmetics and comfort than actual capabilities. The Ford is Over-Engineered and targets a different customer. It is geared towards someone who is going to WORK the truck. Also your biggest point of contention is Price, but you’re comparing an F-450 vs. a 3500. If you’re wanting a proper comparison, you need to compare an F-350 vs a 3500 or an F-450 vs. a 4500. And get the accurate payload and towing number for your truck.

JB those 19.5 and the Continentals are the biggest things I HATE about my F-450. The truck would be so much better with regular 20's. It's a real PITA to find a place that will service a 19.5 commercial tire and also the continentals in the front wear like crap.

Not really sure what your “point” about the 450’s payload is. It’s de-rated for a specific reason. Your truck doesn’t have the same payload capability of the 450. Even more so with the heavier wheels and tires you put on there.

If you are lifting it and putting bigger tires, i will stay away from the chevy or GMC...that rack and pinion steering, though modern setup, has no way to out any great stablizer and will continue suffering terrible bump steer and from sloppy steering - esepcially if you go 38s...also any negative 44 offset needs a crazy 9inch lift due to the wierd boxy render design on GMCs and Chevys. A 2022 Platinum F450 just rocks.

Ford F450 for towing and 8' bed turning all day long. You also left out braking, motor option with HO motor giving 1200ftlbs of torque. Also the independent front suspension is costly to lift and eats tires under heavy service or high mileage conditions. There's a reason why you hardly see any Chevrolets being used by your regular automobile "Towing" company's. Too many moving parts in that front end. The F450 is for towing.

A 3500 GM isnt comparable to an F450. You meed to compare the 6.6 gas to the 6.8 gas. The 7.3 is more torque and Hp that the 6.6 gas. There isnt a comparison for the 3.73 axle and the 7.3 gas DRW.

Not like a F-450 is a 1 and a half ton so I can tow more then a 3500, this is not a fair comparison. The poor Chevy has a weaker chassis for towing.

Ford is building their diesel engines in house now. Gm is still putting isuzu diesels in theirs. Ford has always had better interior quality. I'd take the f450.

@@jonshields437 i have a friend that builds diesel pickups and works on them he told me a friend of his had 3 duramaxs and all 3 broke down in the same day the guy called him wanting to delete them all he laughed and said you wont want to pay what it costs and the guy told him no you don’t understand and explained the story on how all 3 of his company trucks quit on him the same day he told him okay for a 2019 L5P it will cost 10700$ for each truck the ecm has to be sent to Canada physically take it out of the truck and mail it

I have had both. Currently stuck in the turd chevy. Ford wins for sure. Turns better, seats are way more comfortable, pulls better along with 12mpg compared to 7mpg on the chevy with the same load. The chevy does have clearer cameras, better stereo sound, and the mutipro tailgate is better than the Ford. The infotainment is the Chevy is a glitchy piece of garbage. Chevy also doesn't offer the power telescoping steering column and I miss that so much after having it in the Ford.

Looking under the ford. You can see the Chevy has better fit and finnish. The Ford has wires exposed, little insulation underneath. The chevy has better interior.
