$77k for a Lariat is insane. Only 20 years ago my wife drove off the lot in a brand new Lariat for $27k. I assure you peeps incomes haven’t kept up anywhere near that pace over the same time frame.

I love the new face lift on these. I have still have a 21' F-150 Lariat 502A High package with the Powerboost and I love it. With the Lariats fully loaded it's a beauty.

I respectfully disagree. I just bought a 2024 Lariat with the 3.5. It's my second ecoboost as was my last was a 2016 platinum 3.5. First of all, I'm not a fan of the cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 at all. Second, ecoboost gets MUCH more torque. Ecoboost mpg is better. And longevity has been proven to be about even with proper maintenance. Acceleration per the pedal is much more responsive on the ecoboost. V8 depends completely on rpm. Most of all, a close friend that's a service advisor at the Ford dealer I use said they see more issues on the 5.0 than ecoboost. Lastly, do you think there's a reason they don't offer the V8 on the platinum or king ranch? What's that tell you?
@zemo23325 күн бұрын
@@imitationreality 3.5 twin turbo is fine until you have to replace those turbos for a small fee of 7000 dollars. V8 will last 400 000 miles without any issues if you do regular maintenance.

I'm having trouble finding the truck you're testing here. The 5.0 seems to be quite rare, same for the tow/haul package. And to get both, well here in FL I haven't found one yet. Is that surprising? Any suggestions?

Undecided between F150 Lariat Black Appearance Package or Tundra Limited Nightshade. My 2021 F150 XLT is just so clunky. Especially the transmission shifts. And I find the suspension a bit jarring and stiff. (Definitely won’t get FX4 Package again) I’m looking for a plush highway cruiser with a buttery smooth powertrain. Any input?
@WTFCRLT13 ай бұрын
I’m not the biggest fan of the new tundra. Many reported engine and transmission issues and I personally don’t think that they make as much power as they claim. If you’re going for smoothness, I don’t think you can beat the new ram trucks however their new hurricane engine may potentially be just as bad of a failure as the new tundra. GM trucks are even stiffer than the Ford so I’d recommend either this F-150 Lariat (better A/T tires will soften the ride) or a Ram 1500, Laramie trim preferably with the hemi if you can still find one. 👍🏼

Dont get the new Tundra. Im so happy that I got rid of it last month. It has so many issues and the worst part is the dealerships cant even fix the problems yet since there are no remedies available.

I have drove all 4 engines the 2.7 has more bang than the V8. The V8 sounds good, but the 2.7 fells like it has more punch. Go test it back to back. The powerboost has the most punch.....
@oldtwinsna8347Ай бұрын
That's the turbos at work, gives the power where you need it rather than winding it out. Also, turbos will keep the rated power nearly the same even at high elevation - not the case with normally aspirated engines where you lose 3% every 1000 ft.

Ford is insane trying to charge 77k for a F150 Lariat, no way it's worth that much even if it does have the 5.0 V8. also one thing i have to correct, the lower trims come standard with the 2.7 EcoBoost, the XL i believe has a regular V6, but it only comes standard on the regular cab. the extended has the 2.7, the XLT has 3 options, the 2.7, the 3.5, and the 5.0. in the Lariat you get your choice of a hybrid, the 3.5 or the 5.0. it's also worth pointing out that, the 5.0 is an optional choice in the Lariat. the standard Lariat comes with the 3.5, but Ford charges extra for the 5.0. they didn't use to do that, but that was back when Ford only had 3 engine options, the 3.7 V6, the 5.0 V8, and the 3.5 TT V6. the 2016 redesign F150 was when Ford added a new engine option, the 2.7 turbo 6 that was taken out of the Explorer. but at first Ford only reserved the 2.7 for the lower trims as an option in the XL, but then in 2017 and 2018 made it standard in the XLT. that's when they got rid of the old 3.7 V6, to make the lowest XL trim come with the 2.7 and the 5.0. but the Lariat was the trim that came standard with the 3.5, and as long as you didn't add too many option packages Ford loves to cram, you could get the standard Lariat for around 38k to 42k depending on the dealer you go to, i prefer the XL, because i don't need leather, but 77k is ridiculous.
@WTFCRLT14 ай бұрын
I hear ya man but this is the most expensive way into a new 5.0 whereas you’re talking about the cheapest way into a 5.0. Trucks are definitely more expensive but a 2024 extended cab XLT with the 5.0 is starting around $50k. After current discounts you’ll probably be looking at $47-50k otd so about 10-13k more than back in 2018. Considering modern features and tech, that’s not AS bad of a difference as this fully loaded lariat, which similarly equipped would still sticker over 60k back in 2018. The 5.0 isn’t necessary standard for the 2024 lariat btw, but it’s a no cost option if that’s the motor you prefer. Building one on fords website right now actually puts the 5.0 as standard but a couple days ago I don’t think that was the case lol 👍🏼
@Jeymez4 ай бұрын
@@WTFCRLT1 yeah that's because the 3.5 was the standard option in the Lariat, or atleast it was for awhile. the XLT used to be the standard option for the 5.0, but could option up to the 3.5. but after Ford introduced the 2.7, that's when they shuffled things around a bit. the standard V6 was only reserved for the regular cab XL work truck trim, but i don't even know if Ford uses that engine anymore. the 2.7 can be found in a number of trims, but it's quite common in the XLT trim. now in terms of pricing, yeah i get newer tech is gonna push the price up a bit, but after you mentioned the XL. that's how you know the price on a starting F150 is crazy to me, 50k for a XL. it better come with some nice features for that price. 32k was a little too high than i wanted to pay for my XL, but i tried to keep the vehicle as low as possible. still i made it work at the time, now it's all paid off. im just lucky i was able to find a XL that had a 5.0

Would you buy this or a 24 denali AT4 with the 6.2? Anyone?

Great comparison. I love both trucks and both have cylinder deactivation now so I’d go with whichever has the best deal👍🏼
@xtremecoast3 ай бұрын
@@WTFCRLT1 You drove both. I hate road and wind noise and it sounds like the Sierra 1500 At4 was much louder with the single pane glass vs double pane in the f150. Currently I got a much better deal on the 6.2 AT4 vs the Lariat. Like 3k less or 10k off MSRP.
@WTFCRLT13 ай бұрын
@@xtremecoast its not the most noticeable difference but yes the dual pane windows help the ford. You also hear a little more tire noise with the AT4 if you get it with the M/T tires vs the A/T’s. The AT4 is a little quicker and a little more nimble during cornering but It sounds like you’ll like the ford better. With some beefier tires, the ford will also have a noticeably softer ride. For the extra 3k, I think it’s worth it if the ford is better at what’s most important to you 👍🏼
@xtremecoast3 ай бұрын
@@WTFCRLT1 Thanks for the advice. I'm leaning toward the F150. yea that 3k will get cancelled out pretty quick with the savings from the coyote gas mileage. You should do a DB meter test on all your drives. Would add a lot to the reviews IMO.
