In the previous gen, my top 3 heaviest hauls were: - 18 (yes 18) people with it - 500 bricks - 50 concrete hollow blocks + 5 cement bags I had the pleasure to drive this current gen which belonged to my relative. It's really comfy and really can haul proper.

I have the 2024 FX4 Ranger in the same color, Hot pepper Red and I personally couldnt be happier. Its been just a great rideing vehicle, quick and responsive with the 2.3 and all That I need out of it. Iv put new BF Goodrich K0-3s on her for some light off roading and up here in upstate NY we do get the Snow and Slush pretty good and Im sure this truck will be more the capable. My criticisms are very few. One is the Sync 4a system which has its on going issues at times with booting up when it feels like it ( though this is not something that happens too often, just enough to be discouraging and the fact that Ford has been made aware of this issue for quite awhile now and seems not to want to remedy it. ) My other issue is the rear Locker no longer is activated by a physical button. You are dependant on the same sketchy screen that freezes sometimes...Other then then that, its just a fantastic truck for the asking price considering that Chevy / GMC and Especially Toyota are asking.

Stephen, With its new wider bed, the Ranger platform would be an excellent base for the return of the F100. Make it a single cab with an 8 foot bed as well as two-tone paint and VOILA, the right-sized pickup is back!!! A bench seat and three on the tree transmission could be no cost options. 🤩🤩

@@michael1988CA @chiefenumclaw7960 In 2022 and maybe 2023 could at least get RCLB in XL/XLT for the F150 and I think the 250/350 as well. But ford marketing really cut available options on XL to force the XLT tax. It's a forced tax if you wanted a specific feature like 360 camera or 36gallon tank, you pay for the feature plus 5K+ (for 1-2k of features). Also, if you play with the online builder, just adding the two back seats is about 7k. Trim levels are made to get more of your money for little value add. why? people just keep paying. I bought a 2022 F150 XLT, RCLB, V8, FX4 HDPP/MaxTow, 360cam, 36gal tank for 50k. A 2024 with max tow is a lot more now and they cut the heavy payload package to force more F250+ sales. I really like the new look of the 2024 and it looks better than the competition IMO. In fact, I will be going to the dealership later today to get the Ranger I ordered. Mine is an XLT with 2WD in velocity blue and will have the advanced tow package as well. As for the acceleration test, I don't think most people try to see how fast a truck is when hauling a trailer. I certainly don't drive a truck that hard when towing. About the only time I would accelerate hard with a trailer is merging onto the highway where the turbo is already spooled up and ready to kick in like a jet afterburner. I have been driving turbo-charged vehicles since the 1980's (I still have an 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z) and I am used to the turbo lag from a dig so it doesnt bother me. If you really want the turbo spooled up at a stop you have to power brake it to get a better launch. I actually like the feel of the surge of power coming on suddenly when the turbo spools up. It reminds me of being on a roller coaster when it tops the first hill.

I like the front end design a lot more than the outgoing one. I also like that the bigger motor is going to be available. I just wish they offered a true 6-foot bed in the four-door cab configuration. The Ranger has been in an odd place ever since they moved it up to midsized. It's not quite fuel efficient enough to buy it over an F150, but it’s not quite small enough to be considered a compact truck for a city/suburban family. Then again, I live in Texas, where the stock F150 is small in comparison to a lot of trucks around here. Especially when looking at a 10 or 15-year-old F150.

This is what we need, normal sized trucks with decent payload and towing. You go anywhere outside of United States, Canada and Mexico (to a lesser extent, as they have more options); you'll find plenty of pickups that we don't get in the North American market. You look at the payload for the D'Max, Hilux, Mighty Max, Amarok, etc.. they average about what our 3/4 ton trucks have for payload. You can get these with high efficiency diesel engines and in regular and extended cab versions. I'd take a regular cab Ranger with a small diesel for a third of the price of a regular cab F250.

Believe it or not, it isn't turbo lag. That noticeable lag is a side effect of having throttle by wire, and an intrusive traction control system. You can always tell as with turbo lag, the engine still revs, but you haven't built enough manifold pressure, so the torque impulse is rather jarring once it does build boost. In a lot of these modern turbocharged engines, this large torque impulse at very low rpm can cause excessive driveline damage over time, so manufacturers baby it as much as possible. You can observe that even if you give it full pedal input, your tach will barely change, and there is a full-on delay in response to even start accelerating. In ten speed Fords, you can get rid of most of this induced throttle lag by using the sport mode. Also, tow haul mode just makes the transmission up-shift through every gear sequentially, downshift early and more aggressively on declines, and hold gears longer after a decline. It isn't the fastest throttle and shift profile available, nor is it necessary on mostly flat terrain.
@stephanematis3 ай бұрын
Only miss for me is how this midsize lacks the aluminum that revolutionized the F150 and SuperDuty in terms of weight and longevity in the rust belt. Given how assembly for North America is being done on continent, I think they could even make the alu paneling a North American option first and maybe share it out as a Raptor option worldwide. I get that pricing and profits are sticky issue, but this feels like a miss. Ford shows off their "it already has patina" look on the untreated driveline, a miss across all their pickups, something that should be Rustoleomed away, then a Krown or Woolwax. I think the one reason this will be a different beast worldwide is that they have 3 diesel options, though it doesn't seem like they get anything different from transmission or driveline. As a Canadian, not getting other cab options is weird. Not having 60/40 rear seat is weird. Like many, I will look forward to the 2.7 reviews.

We have a 3L v6 diesel which is 184kw (246hp) and 600nm (442 foot pound) or a bi-turbo 2L 4 cylinder with 154 kw (206hp) 500nm (368 foot pound) both with the 10spd autos. We typically put more emphasis on payload here in Australia. The Ranger has typically has 1000kg payload (2200lb) and tow rating of 3500kg (7700lb). Interestingly mine has HVAC vents for the second row of passengers. The Ute (Truck) costs around $AUD80,000. Ford have released the F150 here with the 3.5 eco boost v6 petrol engine only in 2 trim levels and SWB or LWB options. - pricing is $AUD120-$150,000 so the Ranger is a very popular option here.

Not a truck yet it handles a 5k load way easier than any other “truck” you clown. Has a higher payload then any other mid size “truck “ you doofus. You seem kinda shook.

Where is the front cabin information? Did I miss it or does it simply not exist? Plenty of video of a trailer going down the road but what about the interior? You explain things very well so id love to hear your thoughts on drivers position and switch gear!

Turns out you can't tow them behind an RV. So some people need a manual transmission Tacoma. Best always depends on how you're using them.

Lease? Yeah, maybe. But flop down $55k in the U.S. or $60k in Canada? Pure insanity. The depreciation is astronomical, and with 10% interest rates in the U.S. for new vehicles, the amount of debt people are racking up on these piles is crushing. But yeah, it's a nice looking truck.
@mikehughes80233 ай бұрын
If you have money to lease then debt shouldn’t be an issue. I’ll never consider leasing something I plan to own.

Shopping for newer used trucks, I am not seeing astronomical depreciation. The used prices are so high I'm finding it hard to not just shop new trucks.
@shiftymcgee93593 ай бұрын
Are rates back to historical normal? Yes, but at no point have auto and home loans reached 10% in the US. Credit cards are higher than 10%. If someone is quoting you 10% your credit rating is terrible or you’re getting fleeced. I bought a Bronco in late 2023 at 6.3% at 806 credit score. Is that a lot? Yes, I wasn’t happy to put 30k down to keep payments low, but claiming interest rates are 10% is misinformation.

@@busslayer4790 Average lease is 3 years. I looked up 3 year old Ranger Lariat FX-4's with less than 36k within 200 miles of where I live(major metro U.S.) and compared it to new. On average, it's showing 30% depreciation. As more of the newer Rangers hit the road, that will widen, as it does with most models.
@Dusdaddy3 ай бұрын
@@jeffr6280 Well, Ford tends to disagree about the depreciation. They want to charge $790 for a 36 month lease. Meaning you'd be paying 56% of the value in three years! I guess at the end you could sell it to get some money back but that just means you loaned your cash out without collecting interst.

My 2020 Ranger has HVAC vents under the front seats for the back; perhaps the new generation does too? And my 2020 has no rusted driveshaft or half-shafts, even after almost 50k.
@kenwolf24313 ай бұрын
Gives us the rear vents, extra cup holders, cooled seats and grab handles at all door openings like the aussies get on their Ranger. Also is it not time to have a flat floor in the Ranger like the F150 with rear split seats.

Hey guys, thanks for the great review, as usual! Do you have any idea when the 2.7 litre engine will be available in Canada? Also, please let us know if you hear any details on the Tremor version. It recently has been announced for the Australian market. It would make a great alternative to the Raptor. Thanks again!
