I went with the standard output myself. I have about 3k miles at this point. 20-24 mpg empty highway and 12ish towing (depending on weight obviously). Plenty of power and capability, Id say save the money and go with the standard

I have a HO power stroke and I have had a standard output 2020 before and one weird thing about the fords is that the computer takes a lot of power away from the truck until you get moving. I think it’s due to traction control or something because if I’m at a stop, I can’t get the tires to break traction if I stomp on the gas pedal but if I’m going about 10-15 mph and I punch it, it’ll spin the wheels pretty good and it takes off like a sports car haha. I wish there was a way to turn that off so the truck would give you full power from a stop.
@rich7447
@rich7447 4 ай бұрын
Hit the traction control button to turn off the TSC. Then push it and hold it down to turn off Advancetrac (it will show in the middle of the gauge cluster). When you go to take off don't slam the pedal all the way to the floor. My 24 HO F450 CC gets from 0 to 60 in 6 to 6.5 seconds once I do this.

Yeah they limit torque in the first 3 gears. When it’s tuned it spins really easy
@slidewide1999
@slidewide1999 3 ай бұрын
That’s simply turbo lag. Once you moving and there’s a few rpm in the motor the lag is dramatically reduced.
@loudandclearmedia
@loudandclearmedia 3 ай бұрын
@@slidewide1999 no, it's Ford's tuning on the 23+ trucks. We've had a couple discussions about this in the Tremor forum. with the '22 and under trucks they'll get sideways no problem with the traction control off. The '23+ trucks still cut power once they detect wheel spin, regardless of which button you've held down for however long.

I agree. Really the HO is the option for those using them commercially like Hot Shot trucking. The SO engine has been working just fine for my towing 19k up and down the Trinity alps, Cascades, Sierra Nevadas, and so on. Never even once wanted more power, more exhaust brake, or more of anything for that matter. Except more money when fueling in California. I can say I’ve wanted that. 😂

I have a new F-250 King Ranch Tremor. I just hit 1500 miles. So far I’ve been averaging 15-16 city and 18-19 hwy at 70 mph. I’ve found that 65 hits 20mpg. I’m going to make a couple of assumptions. (1) the tremor lift and smaller wind valance cost me about 1-1.5 mpg (2) the Goodyear distracts cost me about 1 mpg. So if this were a standard F-250 HO with a good set of Michelin LTX M&S or comparable I would expect over 21 mpg at 70. I’ve noticed the mileage and ride are improving as the truck breaks in. I bought the truck for tax and “personal wow” when I saw the truck on the lot. In Ohio, we still don’t see lots packed with Super Duty’s in the King Ranch or Platinum Trims. There are quite a lot of XXLT’s and Lariat base trims. When I did a search for a King Ranch Tremor, loaded with options, I actually chose the 7.3 as my first choice thinking someone would have that exact truck in stock somewhere in a 300 mile radius’s. Turns out the 7.3 is under such high demand that not many are sitting on lots. I finally found a couple in Houston and Dallas.. one down in Georgia. The thing is, I found several hundred King Ranch and Platinums with the 6.7. So when I tried to “get a good deal” the gassers were all full sticker price, where as the same dealers offered $10,000-$12000 off of sticker on the 6.7 and the company Liberty Ford near Cleveland Ohio gave me absolute top dollar on my trade in 2020 ford Transit AWD that had every option upgrade available at that time. They gave me $55,000 and $10k off full price on the truck. They also gave me a very low price on an 7-year 130,000 bumper to bumper warranty. The only catch was I had to sign a “I will not install a tune program” on the truck or the extended warranty would be void.

If Ford gets rid of one of them, they should get rid of the H.O.. For the average driver, the S.O. should last longer and be more reliable. The more you "string" out an engine (I would consider increasing the compression and power levels "stringing" out), the less reliable an engine gets.

I've had four SO's prior to my '23 HO and I've never longed for more power but I have to admit that I much prefer the HO after driving it the past 14 months. I just drove to Florida and back from Texas last week and I average 22mpg at 70-75mph while on 37's, can't complain about that all while having more power and better acceleration at highway speeds. Is the HO worth it from a cost perspective, well that's subjective, but for most it likely isn't. For myself, I'd buy the HO every single day and twice on Sunday's. Thanks for the comparison video, I am sure some will find it extremely helpful.

@@antonnovosselov7762 Bone stock in the ECU/Engine department. I have the Banks 5" filter back exhaust but it has no impact on performance in that regard. 20+ on 37's is pretty common HWY fuel economy with these. Keep in mind this is in the SE where it's flat and lower altitude.

Maintenance costs are usually higher as well as fuel costs Ya gotta know where to shop for quality parts, and where to get quality fluids and quality fuel at the lowest cost relative to your area(s) you will be driving. Don't forget that insurance is usually higher (to cover the cost of accident related repairs [and deductibles])

Good video. Definitely just for bragging rights. 1/2 second to 60 is negligible. It would be tough to tell that apart for most people. And then 3 tenths in the 1/8 at similar speeds would be even harder to tell apart. I’d save the $2000 or spend it on some other option if it were me. But some people today think 475 hp just ain’t enough lol.

I own a 23 standard output F250 and yesterday I test drove a 24 HO F350. In normal driving there is absolutely no difference. If you get into it, it blows the tires off a lot easier than the standard output. MPGs did seem maybe slightly better than my standard output. Both 3.55 rear ends. I probably would not order the HO but if it was on the lot and had everything else I wanted I might bite.

From those numbers there is not a nickles worth o difference. From a towing capacity perspective if one had more fluids to work with than the other the one with the most would last longer over time than the other and would be easier to work with in hot weather. Other than that no real difference other than Ford is dinging your wallet for nothing.
