Shadow of the erdtree definitely has the best audio design. Just listen to the beat drop in balye's ost, like listen to rellana's ost. The ambient music is top tier. FF is a ps5 exclusive, so i don't see it winning, and metaphor only sold one million compared to sote's 5 million.

I played the Balatro demo when it came out, for a while. It really good, just don't know if it should be in game of the year

Balatro is a BANGER. Imo, you really should look into it, heavily recommend this indie game, but I'm not your mother, you do you Edit: I think there should be a DLC category for best DLC of the year

Definitly weird year for GOTY. Talked to some friends about it. Unfortunately I have never played Wukong but my friends were not big fans because they said it felt "repetitive" and nothing new. Basically run at bosses, fight with some stick, and repeat. I think Shadow of the Erdtree deserves to be in the GOTY category because as you mentioned, the things they brought in with that DLC is almost (if not) on par with other AAA games that released this year. Overall, an odd year for sure

@@SchmalsNS I think most games are repetitive to a point. Can say the same thing about most hack n slashes like God of War, Souls/Souls-likes, heck even the CODs are repetitive. I will you basically only get one weapons, the staff, which makes sense to the lore. However you can utilize certain spells and transformations and you can experiment with skills, leading to some interesting outcomes and the game encourages you to explore. I recommend playing it for yourself to see.

Yeah... Shadow of the Erdtree is the best content out of these six. Unfortunately, it wont win because TONS of content creators are crying about it and skewing opinions. It has my vote, I pray I am proven wrong.

I think thats very debatable. I liked the DLC, but the others have very good new content. The DLC is just more Elden Ring (which I love) and that was already given its flowers. I dont mind thats its there, though, I just think that FF7R, Astrobot, and Metaphor are just as good and its their time to chance.

@@jcflores1774 yeah that's a good point. The thing is, I think it's important to stay consistent. For FF7 specifically, it's a remake. I know that it elongated the story, but if we are going to be upset about a DLC being nominated we also need to be upset that a remake is nominated. Now, from my understanding, it makes a short portion of the original, a full fledged game. That is what I hear people complain about the most. So for the argument saying that it's still its own game, it kind of sounds like a game that's already been made... with a large portion of new content... kind of like a base game and a DLC. Now I want to make it clear that I think it SHOULD be nominated, because it is one of the best content we have received. And that is all I'm arguing for Shadow of the Erdtree. I think that it should be nominated but in another section The best dlc of the year , the best remake of the year Thats how it should be . while they added a ton of content theyre not stand alone games but dlc or remakes
