2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Max Tow package....did this just beat Ram HD, Ford HD?

The 2024 Gmc Sierra 2500 Max Tow package is a heavy 2500, basically the 3500 frame, leaf pack, rear end and gets the factory puck system. This truck easily beats the new XLT Ford for flair and interior plushness. Add the Max tow which built is still less than a 3500 and it's excellent. The 6.6L5P duramax is always blast to drive, fuel economy at the end of the 20 mile test drive was 15.8 mpg.

The more information the better👍 Just so you know GM has been using the Denso High Pressure Fuel Pump and Denso Injectors since 2017 when the L5P was first introduced. The Bosch CP3 is a very good pump, the CP4 is a known failure. GM used it from 2011 to 2016 and Ford continues to use it 2011 to current. The higher trim has tail gate close feature via the switch on the dash and the key fob. There is a man named Charles Farmer here on You Tube that is in the RV transport business. He has a 2018 Chevrolet 2500 that is almost in constant use. His truck is 100% emission intact and he idles it all night for the HVAC as he sleeps in the back seat area. His truck currently has 500,000 miles on it with its original engine and transmission. Thank you for your videos.

So I have the same model except with the 6.6. And I absolutely love it. I really wish you had done a review on it even though Kong is basically the same with less interior. Love the channel brother!👍🏻

Thanks for the video! I am buying a new truck. I have been driving a ‘96 Dodge 2500 forever. I have had very good luck with that old Cummins. Having said that, the new trucks are a whole new animal. Was going to get another Dodge 2500, but the payload was a real joke. Ended up ordering a 2024 LTZ Chevy 3500. I don’t tow max loads, but will max out the payload occasionally. I really debated about going with a gas engine, but have been driving diesels so long, I just decided to go that route, time will tell if that was a good move or not.

I will say get the 2500 and upgrade to trailer max package to make it a 3500. Has 3500 HD frame , 3500 springs 12 “ rear axle and 3500 HD shock package. It saved me 1336.00 . Rather than ordering a 3500 . Do the builds on the site you will see it. The only difference between a 3500 and 2500 is the frame , springs and shocks and axle . If you say I’m wrong do the reasearch everything else is identical but if you want a sign that says 3500 go ahead and spend a little more for no reason

I have to say that is quite amazing to hear so little engine noise and didn't seem bad for wind noise either at the higher speeds, I got the impression it was the tires that produced a fair portion of the sound. Your voice comes over the video so clear, that would not be the case with older vintage trucks, certainly not the older dodge cummins from over 20 years back. I wish GM would have added the gear position digit and the status of the DPF, even a way to manually trigger a regen. I haven't sat in a newer GM nor Ford for that matter but I've gotten the impression that Ford super duty's for years have tended to have a more comfortable seat than GM. I know my brother likes his seats in his 2006 King ranch super duty and would have a hard time giving those up ( and they are REAL LEATHER, so much fake leather advertised as leather on the market these days ).

On the GMC Build & Price website, for the 2500 HD - the Max Trailering Package includes: 3500 HD frame 3500 HD Leaf Springs 12" Rear Axel 3500 HD Shock Package My question is, what else do you need to have a 3500? Exactly. No one has answered this question. Perhaps a dealership knows or maybe GMC knows.

My question is does it effect the ride quality? My 2023 rides great and Ive found a 2024 with MAX trailer Package. The helper sping should not hurt but the shocks and 3500 FRAME? Wish someone had insight.

They corrected the pumps in 2017. Gmc and Chevy roll off the same assembly line they are all essentially the same.

Do you know if the puck system in the 2024 Chevy and GMC trucks has the same placement as the 2020-2023 model years? I ordered a 2024 Silverado 3500HD SRW and need to buy a 5th Wheel hitch but none of the top 5th wheel hitch manufacturers can confirm their hitches will fit the OEM puck system in the 2024's. They'll only commit up through the 2023 model year for now.

That has an odd dash, it's actually what the Chevy uses. If you look at the higher trim level GMC they have vents above the screen, the Chevy uses that dash with the little cubby above. Seems strange.

So why get this “ Max Tow Package” vs a 3500 single rear wheel ? What exactly is the difference besides the badging ? Is it any way smoother against bumps on the rear ?

It's kinda wierd, honestly I don't know why gm did this. However you can basically get this Max tow, for less money, 1500 ish, which you can use for more equipment or just save. But it's really a 3500 with 2500 badges. Ride was really good, but the suspension was exactly the same as the 3500 so I don't feel ride would change.

@@automotiveinquiries9673 In 2021 when I purchased my Chevrolet 3500 HD Diesel single rear wheel it cost $1400 more than the equally equipped 2500. With a 3500 you also get a larger rear end (12" ring gear vs 11.5") and and more robust drive line vs the 2500. The 3500 will allow full engine torque in first gear (tow haul mode). That 2500 with its "Max Tow" package is not a 3500, it is a 2500 with different rear springs.This information is all out there and easy to find. Please if these reviews or informational videos you make are to be taken seriously have accurate information and do your research first. I really want to like your channel but......

@Jim M you are right in some regards. Allegedly and according to gm's website the 2500 max tow does get the 3500 frame, springs and larger rear diff. I. 24 and in many other years, 3500s are almost always more expensive trim for trim than a 2500. Again, My channel is about options. Yes, it's not a 100% 3500. Most people get warm and fuzzy feeling about a 3500 over a 2500. I remember the heavy half, the 3+3. I think my channel is informative. But the web is plagued with information and miss information, but my channel doesn't mislead anyone it creates conversation. These other guys spout some.simple specs, drive around the block and come up with a computer algorithm title that will get them hits. They genuinely care only about themselves. Heck I was schooling one of the gm reps at the auto show. The max tow is not a 2500 either it's beefier. If people need a 3500 to tow 15k, by all means go get it. My channel is about getting info to people, creating conversation. This channel it helps with my stress. I shoot these videos after I've been up since 230 everyday, usually work 10 to 13.hours, cook clean and raise my 4 son's with no help, go to bed at 930 and.do.it.over again. I actually respond to almost all my commenters when time allows.....no other channel.out there like it. Although there are people Making millions making videos that are useless or obscene. So I'm doing my best, just honestly helping people if I can, or arming them.with info to ask questions. The max tow for 24 is on the site. They get the bigger gear, in 21 thinks we're different. I do appreciate you being here and watching, but a 100 mechanics in a room will all argue their own point.

@@jimm2442 you’re wrong. The 2024 max tow 2500 (there was no 2020-2023 max tow 2500) gives you the SRW 3500 rear suspension including the 12” ring gear. The true reason for GM offering this is to keep guys under the 26,000 GCWR rating that need the 3500 SWR truck. The 2020-2023 3500s have 12,100 (or maybe 12,200) GVWRs for crew cab short beds and so a 14,000 GVWR trailer would exceed the 26,000 GCWR which would require a Class A license if you’re using it for business. This 2500 max tow will not exceed 26,000 GCWR with the same 14,000 GVWR trailer and yet it has all the benefits of a 3500 SRW.

Really like the GMC styling over the Silverado HD. Why would anyone choose the Silverado over the GMC? The Silverado is hideous looking. I would think this new Sierra would totally outsell the Silverado now. All the closure parts are aluminum including the tailgate. This also helps with the ease or lightness of closing/opening them. Roof structure over the front seats is still to short. The tops of the door frames are to short as well because of that. Stupid outside mirror shape and placement. Useless wax still on the frames. Gorgeous interior though.

When I buy a truck I dont discriminate I look at the big three before making a decision. I made up my mind that if I were to buy a diesel it would have been a GMC Duramax because of the denso fuel system. I think GMs seats are terrible and I have experience my wife has the GMC AT4. Id say Ford completely owns the gas truck market in my opinion with the 7.3 and that is what I chose to stay away from all of the emissions nonsense.

My question is what is the difference in this and a 3500? I have a 2500 Denali HD and found a 24 Ultimate with the MAX Trailer Package. My concern is ride quality. I can't see how it could ride as good? Worse case could I swap out the leaf and the shocks for a standard 2500? What does a "3500 Frame and 12" Axle mean"

I think the 2500 max trailering and 3500 is the same truck just basically derated to get out of needing a cdl if you are towing a 14k trailer.

With the GM trucks, the ride is almost identical unloaded and loaded, 2500 or 3500. It's better in the GM HD trucks even over an f250 and ram 2500.

Ahhh ok I’m gonna be ordering one and want the max trailering because i pull goosenecks for farming and stuff and like the two helper springs so it doesn’t bottom out with weight on but was worried about the ride empty compared to the regular 2500 without it
