(For the record, I am Black and) I fundamentally agree with you. The constant highlighting of the ethnic difference between who won only serves to undermine and segregate. However, when it's an absolute first (say Ali Wong), it's worth highlighting the breaking of the glass ceiling. Where it gets problematic for me, is when they go on and on...and on about it. For example, with Lily Gladstone: both her and the media can't stop speaking about "Native" this and "Native", "Blackfoot" this and "Blackfoot" that. It ends up becoming more about the so called 'diversity and inclusion' quotient, and less about the talent itself. Which is ultimately unfortunate.
