Honda needs to go too a V4! They’ve been running back of the pack for far too long, Soichiro Honda would turn in his grave seeing the current state of Honda racing.
@CurtisBrandt9 ай бұрын
My tendency is to agree with you. This current bike is starting to look decent, as opposed to the last few generations of Fireblade. But my question is one that I think you’d agree with. If you look back at the RC30 from 1988, does this bike seem like where we should be, 35 years hence? Honda have simply lost their way in terms of having the top Superbike. Again, this bike may change that, but for the last 20 years or so (since the RC51 then?), my question applies. Since Honda are the biggest motor company in the world, I have to assume they simply didn’t care about Superbike over that time frame. Which, frankly, worked for them until they also completely lost their way in MotoGP, at which point I have to ask: what the heck are you doing, Honda?
@paxtonfurney33169 ай бұрын
It would take 100 million dollars to develop a v4 that they couldn’t be sued for by duc or aprilla, it’s not even worth it
@CurtisBrandt9 ай бұрын
@@paxtonfurney3316 Would you care to elaborate why that would be? Honda have a pretty deep library of engine technologies, including many great V4 type engines to choose from. I would be surprised if Ducati and Aprilia have subsequently developed a legal lock on all viable technologies. I’m only a normal enthusiast, having neither legal nor engineering credentials, but neither of those Italian brands builds engines that look particularly “Honda style”.
@GAxxhe9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, Honda doesn’t have any racing experience with V-fours, so they’re a bit caught out here.
@ferociousfrankie9 ай бұрын
I think Al mentioned it at the top of the video. The market for sport bikes seems to be slowly withering. More and more people are going for the "crossovers" of the motorcycle world which are adv style upright touring bikes and naked bikes on the other side. If this is all true, it would not make sense for Honda to invest heavily in such a platform. Key word being "if".

this technology was introduced back in the early 80's by honda for their large displacement xr / xl bikes by utilizing two carbs on a single cylinder bike that had a "primary carb" and then a "secondary carb" which operated in the same manner. honda stopped using the twin carbs in 1987 and went with a single pd style keihin carb they did this to save on weight and production cost and though the single carbs were reported to make less power than the dual carb setup i cannot confirm that
