Honda made a fun bike with the 2024 Transalp XT750. That's excellent.

Hey mate. FYI, Veridian have just released a cruise control for $299 USD. It plugs straight into the stock wiring harness and has a really neat two button control that looks almost factory.

I've watched a lot of reviews on this bike and a common theme is how much fun the bike is in the upper rev range, but everyone is shifting at 3K RPM's!! I find it especially true from the reviews of the European version of the bike. It's nice to finally see someone ride in the fun zone of that engine. Thanks for a fresh take on this bike.

I love this bike, and I would buy it. There is ZERO excuse for not offering Cruse Control as an option. Pure GREED from Honda. Honda and most Japanese manufactures do not realize that many of us DO NOT WANT a 1000cc+ motorcycle. We want lower displacement motorcycles with ALL the same bells and whistles as the "big" bikes. On a motorcycle with electronic throttle there is no reason not to offer cruise control as an option other than to "cripple" the features on the smaller bike to encourage you to go big. Sorry Honda, I just wont buy it without Cruise Control. Oh wait... companies like CF-Moto are climbing up the ladder and are getting better every day. They will offer these features we are asking for and they sell more and more. I will continue to ride my current bike (Honda) without CC for now... 😕

I'm tired of TransAlp content and I started watching this video without the intention to 'like' it because of that, but I couldn't make it through the whole thing (and I did watch the whole thing) without giving it a like. Your review style seemed to bring up points a lot of other reviewers miss IMO. The TransAlp definitely isn't the bike for me, I'll be keeping my 800de for sure, but I do appreciate the points and comparisons you bring to the table. One point you mentioned was "If you had to have only one bike, the TransAlp would be it". I think that sums it up for me. I have 3 bikes. A Harley, my 800de, and a small bore dual sport. My 800de is the bike I take out when I want to go but not exactly sure which direction and my other two I take out when I'm in the mood for a specific type of riding. The 800de blends off road and on road very well for ME. Better than what the TransAlp can offer. Okay, not trying to steal the show or bash the TransAlp in this comment. I just want to show some appreciation for your particular flavor of review and bring some (probably not needed) context to one of your comments. The TransAlp is a good bike and I would ride with anybody that has one.

The self canceling signals run off the speed sensor cuz the bike doesn’t have an imu. Only reason I know is cuz Honda mounted my front wheel backwards so it had the speed sensor all screwed up and it was throwing check engine light and not canceling the signals

I chose the v strom 800de over the transalp for two reasons.. one the suspension the Honda you have to use a tool to adjust the pre-load on the rear no compression and rebound adjustment two is you have to remove all the plastic and fuel tank to access the air filter.. oh and one more reason is it's only available in one color

I looked at the 800DE but chose the Transalp for two reasons - TA weighs 45 lbs less (459 vs 504 for 800DE) and the ergos are more comfortable for riding. Both are awesome, but the 800DE is about the same weight as an Africa Twin manual.

An enjoyable test, accurately summing up the new Transalp's virtues, and honestly discussing its flaws. Silly stuff like no ambient temperature reading makes us wonder just how far Honda were prepared to go to keep the price down. I have just been through the exercise of fitting an accessory thermometer to mine, which was a complete fail, as the thing under-read massively in the shade, and over-read significantly after a few minutes in (mild) sunlight. Now going through the old return exercise - so no thanks to Honda for that waste of time. Surely an ambient temp wouldn't have added too much to the price? The 12V socket similarly could have been included, given the higher use of 'phones and GPS on this category of (touring) bike. But, as you say a number of times, it is a pleasant and capable 'all-round machine', and the low price allows some suspension work, or whatever upgrades the owner chooses to do. The 800 V-Strom $3,000 dearer in Australia, so that, and its relative weight, counted against the Suzuki for me, even though it beats the Honda in some respects. But the Honda optional extras are expensive, compared to the plethora of aftermarket offerings, so with the numbers this model is selling in, more will emerge. Again, I wonder if Honda might have got that a bit wrong, where they may have sold more of their bash-plates etc. if they weren't so expensive. My B & B bash-plate was much less than the Honda one. As against your parts availability in California, I have waited two months now for the 12V socket, and we got the model before N. America... I am wondering if the US export model has slightly shorter gearing than the model we got here (South Australia) as mine shows 112 km/hour (70 mph) at exactly 4,000 RPM, whereas you mentioned 4,400 at that speed, so there may be a few more differences than just the exhaust and the tune, without drilling down into the number of sprocket teeth. But I am enjoying mine more as I go, having bought it with reservations, so it is a model that 'grows on you', and the engine becomes smoother and 'sweeter' as you go, as the engine noise also becomes more harmonious over time. Mine now at 7,500 kms, or about 4,500 mi. Pirelli STRs I fitted around 5,000 kms improve its dirt road feel, but were also dear (given that my front is from nearby Indonesia, and my rear from China) so the 'Italian prices' of those were a bit disappointing. Some markets getting STRs made in Brazil. I have made a lighter rear rack, as the stock one is bulky, and heavy, and found that reversing the handlebar risers gives it a better steering feel, as it feels a bit tiller-like with them orientated towards the rider. The other way around - that is, with the risers offset toward the front of the bike, I found better both on-road and off, and when standing. The bear grip footrests (that arrived after three months!) also improve it when standing, being that bit wider and longer. Some of that stuff got bent the other day when I had an unfortunate meeting with four kangaroos on a back road. The gear lever bent like licorice, as did its pivot bolt. I hope that bolt (which I had to straighten) doesn't take months to arrive! But your discussion was candid, and easy to listen to, so keep 'em coming. If you end up buying your own Transalp I hope it also 'grows on you' like mine has. It sounds like it may have already.

Transalp is more playful than the Strom. Strom is more planted and mature. Strom needs an exhaust to bring out the engine character, Transalp is good from the factory. Would rather have the Honda if I could only own one bike, but if I could have two I would have the Strom and a CRF300L (maybe 450, but I haven't had a chance to try one).

I would only use regular unleaded for long highway 🛣 usage . Once I arrive at my destination then I will top it off with premium fuel⛽️ . You're burning too much fuel at a faster rate. In turn, the bike doesn't buck too much . Well, all my Harley's were like that . But nothing but junks, in my opinion . 35k plus, and all everyone wants is h.p. Harley's were built around torque, not horsepower . Yeah, big power on heavy bikes, and they want top speed . Sorry, they are still pokey and in my opinion, again, they stop like garbage as well . At this moment, I ride a 1990 Dr 350s and laugh as you like, but it's a nice little trail bike . Good power, almost by a couple of ponies from the DRZ, but the bike is still under 300 pounds wet, and it has a 6speed . This Transalp is on my rader . Perfect mid range power for me . Put a real good suspension on it and an aftermarket guard protection upper and lower and a crash plate and this bike will be a good performer all around for 15k . I can care less about cruise control . I rode half of this country on a Super Glide with no cruise control . A good throttle lock is fine if need be . Enjoyed your video young man .

Fuel grade comment. Very modern engines there’s not as much variable as you used to see. In the end regardless of the standard parroting dribble. Some combustion chambers like to see certain burn rates of fuel. Until you experiment you don’t know. Over the past 50 years I’ve seen regular fuel recommended engines thrive on premium and deliver substantial mpg gains runing it. I’ve seen premium only engines that like the cheapest fuel you can find with a little fettling. A little record keeping and experimentation with fuel grades can sometimes yield nice results in mpg and drivability. Jusayin

I'm sorry I do not agree with lane splitting, whether its legal or not! Anyone who puts their self in that potential danger does not ride safe or smart. What if someone is stopped in traffic has an argument and decides to get out with an open the door and you are passing by? Guess what you are done. What if someone decides to change lanes and drifts over? Stupid way to ride in my opinion!
@davedempster3405
@davedempster3405 2 ай бұрын
The safety argument FOR lane splitting is the ability to avoid being rear ended by some cager on a cell phone. Getting between the cars helps prevent rear end collisions. I do agree that many ride too quickly between cars while filtering or lane splitting...
