It’s a spicy little car. I wonder how well the motors etc will hold up. Like any brand, you always hear the good and the bad. Some is over exaggerated.

It’s so funny seeing you driving this car, I first followed you because you got me to like the WRX but after test driving it I really didn’t like it. But then I found this car and made research and test drove it and fell I love. I really really think this is the best car in the market for a daily driver. It’s cheaper then competitors the eco/standard it’s really good and you can save gas if you only use those and you have the n mode for that weekend type of car. IT LITERALLY DOES EVERYTHING! I have the car and I have no regrets buy it. This car makes me to only buy Elantra N in the future. Take care!

I’ve owned 3 Type Rs and currently own one. Also owned a manual Elantra N and it’s a GREAT car. If I couldn’t have a type R, no question I’d go back to the N. I loved driving it. If you get one, PPF the front asap, the paint is very very thin. You’ll have rock chips really quick

Can confirm… I’ve had my 24 Atlas white for a month now and the rock chips are everywhere 🥲 I drive in the freeway daily and quite literally hear rocks hit the windshield all the time… I have the paint protection but am not using it til I get another job so I won’t be driving on the highway so often

The N’s do not have engine issues. You’re confusing it with the old Theta II in cars like the Genesis Coupe and Optima. Those engines had issues with metal shavings from the factory blocking oil passages in the crankshaft causing major issues and ultimately failure. I’ve had my Elantra N for over 2 years and 32k miles and mechanically it’s been flawless. The Theta II-i in the N cars are extremely reliable and pretty bulletproof.

Almost every performance car demands premium fuel. Also the elantra N can use regular gas but the engine won't be developing it's optimal performance as it will tune down for the lower grade of fuel.

I think they’re cool. Wouldn’t mind one if I wasn’t in my 40s. But the aesthetics seem a little juvenile to me. I definitely wouldn’t trade my GTI for one. I get your position though…going from an R to a GTI could be rough. I say go with an SE 380 and go stage 1 with a rear sway bar upgrade and wheels when/if you have the funds. They’re super fun to zip around in and I love the interior in mine.

GR corolla looks like a fun platform but i just cant get over the nasty uber-like interior of it. They just dont do a good job at all, and nothing special about it either. I was just driving out of a doc appt with a hyundai dealer next door, and was really tempted to stop for a text drive but im not planning on buying yet and dont want to poison my mind 😂 but would love to test drive both dct and 6mt back and forth. I really like the ethos albert biermann has instilled in the engineering AND N brand. It’s at the AMG and M level, with driving academies and own social and website presence. VW is trying to do the same with R but they are a bit behind and the way they’ve neglected little fun things like exhaust sound and no manual transmission, just feels like they don’t get it. Would love to hear to comparison of the 6mt vs dct and your other manual cars.

I need to drive the manual Elantra N but the DCT was great in it. I thought the same on the Corolla until I sat in it and my viewpoint changed on the interior

I don't think I've seen one of the new Elantra models in person yet, but I absolutely hated the old one's looks. Seems like a pretty decent all-around car, but in my case I don't think it's something I would buy - not dedicated enough for a weekend fun car, and missing some creature comforts and liveability as a daily driver. Plus, I just don't care for FWD any more. I can do a front-biased AWD system, but I just don't think I care for a strictly FWD architecture any more. On a side note, saw my first new Nissan Z cars a couple of weeks ago. Only saw it from the back, and it looked like whoever was driving it was doing some filming as they had one of those long poles with the camera on top that they had stuck on the rear window. This is the only time I've ever seen one, and just like the new Supra they're unicorns around here.
