7:49 - Revival of the "Exclusive trunk comfort index"??? 🙂 Thanks for the review!

Nice review Nick! It's a shame that carmakers always send their most expensive fully loaded top trim models and not a base model. I'm far more interested in the 24k base trim 2025 Kona
@vbtwo319843 күн бұрын
They want people to think of the features of the fully loaded model and the price of the base model when they’re choosing a vehicle.
@johnkonde19753 күн бұрын
@@vbtwo31984 Exactly! It's deceptive! Just like how carmakers will never include the mandatory destination fee when stating the price of their cars, to make their cars look cheaper!

Nice review and some great eye candy

Well they want to showcase the car and all it has to offer. But cars used to be significantly more customizable and you could just pick the features you want and leave the rest. Now they do fully loaded for a different reason, they have some nonsensical packages for features and by showing the fully loaded ones in reviews, they don't highlight what features that are desirable are bundled with a bunch of garbage you don't want. For example, the base trim having an option for heated seats, but in order to get the heated steering wheel, you need to get the top trim with giant wheels, a sunroof, 3 zone automatic climate, auto rain sensing wipers, led interior accent lighting, highway driving assistant, premium audio, and so on, all things I couldn't care less about. I just want my hands to be warm in -15 degree weather. Funny enough the Niro phev has a cold weather package, which adds heated seats, wheel and an aux heater to all trims, and both vehicles share an assembly line.

I could only imagine spilling a drink in that cup holder set up.

Interesting that this car's cousin Niro has more rear legroom & headroom. And a hybrid! (If you're going to have a slow car, it might as well get great mileage.) Not that I dislike the Kona, but it's interesting seeing what Kia did with the same platform.

I've got the Niro, very happy with it.

I have the 24 Kona in the same Cyber Grey. Love the looks and it’s growing on me more and more everyday! Did regret getting the Preferred trend with the 2.0 litre engine, would have been better with the 1.6 litre turbo.

Interesting price !! This is 32k and elantra N is 33k. One is 190hp, other one is 280hp. Odd!!
@james20423 күн бұрын
For a short while there was a kona n with that engine and it sold very poorly. It only lasted 1 model year. I think sales were like 17:1 elantra to kona

Somehow the “lights in the fenders” thing works on the front but looks awful in the rear to me. Reminds of those gross curvy taillights Toyota did on certain Tundras years ago.

The black plastic cladding is horrendous too....

Lol the tundra stepside has grown on me over the years, these days I think it looks good when I pass by one..certainly makes them instantly stand out 😅

2:55 to be fair, the Toyota Crown Signia also looks like it’s wearing a Ferrari body kit, so maybe that’s just a design trend with the segment.

Hyundai is not alone in not providing a spare tire, but it definitely is on my shopping list to have, even if it's a space saver spare. I went with the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, which comes with a spare and standard AWD. I like the Kona, but not my local Hyundai dealership.

I test drove one and it was terrible. Very stiff suspension and priced ridiculously high. I would go with CX-30

I had one of these as a rental on a business trip this past summer. (Though, I had the lower specced engine) I found the vehicle to be… adequate.

Hello sir. any chance you are doing 2025 Maverick review? thank you.
@james20423 күн бұрын
Honestly i rented one of these and the base 2.0 just feels gutless. Compared to a niro, the hybrid feels so much peppier. I wish this at least got the hybrid. I know they dont want to cannibalize tuscon sales, but the kona is a different class of car and the tuscon gets a turbo. This would just need the na version like the niro

Hyundai executive: please design us a crossover with a really nice, clean interior, and to balance it out, make sure the exterior is as hideous as possible.
@james20423 күн бұрын
I like the exterior. Actually the driving experience is what kept me from it. The cup holders suck and the drive train is very rough, mainly hard shifts for seemingly no reason

Another silly looking, comically overstyled origami Hyundai. I thought the last gen was okay-ish, but this thing just looks so bad! The rear end is particularly awful.

The auto industry is entering into a weird area with engines, power, and efficiency With CAFE Regulations, many luxury marques like Mercedes are pressured into selling more fuel efficient vehicles, but buyers of $100k cars will not be buying many turbo 4-bangers. The Mercedes C63 is the latest expensive flop. You can add electric motors and hybrids, but it's lipstick on a pig. Luxury marques need to decide are they selling more expensive cars, with less engine? Or are they going to pass the taxes onto the consumer, for engines the top buyers will actually buy?
@james20423 күн бұрын
Actually this is where you're wrong, many luxury buyers walk in and just ask for the best one they got, and the moment someone punches it with that hybrid and it throws them in their seat they're sold. I can tell you from first hand experience, most those buyers don't know shit about what's under the hood
@InvestBetter.3 күн бұрын
@@james2042 Stupid buyers. The ones who know luxury, and hear that four whine in pain, they keep moving to the next one on the list.
