no, OLED played probably a neglibeable role, as it only matters on dark screens and on bright ones it can consume more battery than LCD, and most of the time there wasn't a dark screen, M4 made all the difference

@salimserin8629 iPad battery life depends on how you use it. More intense tasks use more battery, and if you’ve been using your iPad for over a year then it’s battery will start to degrade.

As someone who upgraded from the m2 12.9in to the M4 13in I have definitely noticed that the M4 gets better battery life than the M2. Definitely not the upgrade for the normal consumer but there is definitely a bit of a difference in battery life.

@@heatcool8932 The Reason Is Why M4 Was Better Than M2 Is Because Of 3nm While M2 Uses 5nm Meaning 3nm = Less Battery Drain And Also More Preformance. Also 3nm Is Way More Efficient Than 5 nm And 4nm. Also I Am Happy For The Apple Event On September 9th This Month! Glad This Helped!

I own the iPad Air 4th generation and the battery is soooo bad. I also own the older iPad Air and it’s battery is almost 3 times as good as the the 4th generations. I wanna get a new one and I thought of the 13 inch Air and it seems the battery is slightly better. The Pro is waaayyyy too expensive for me. The regular 10th generation ipad perhaps is the better choice over the Air. But I am curious of the 13 inch display, because I mostly watch shows on my iPad.

I'm curious about as to why the 13 inch outperformed the 11 inch by almost 2 hours. Same chip. Bigger battery but proportionally a bigger display too. Same display tech, it's very interesting. Maybe something to do with its size? More room for heat dissipation, hence leading to less battery drain?

i think the ipad air m2 isnt as good because of the larger screen thats 60htz and the m2 chip which is efficient but superpowerful and eats up battery, the pro has m4 chip with 6 efficiency cores and 3 performance cores instead of 4 perfomance cores and 4 efficiency cores it also has promotion to drop below 60htz to save battery the ipad pro m4 has 2 more effciency cores, 1 less perfomance core while still being faster, better chip, promotion, and uses half the power of m2 so i can see why the pros battery is much better than the air

How old are the batteries and how many charge cycles do they have? Without these information the test is less usefull. The newer Ipads have fresh batteries with little to no charge cycles. Of course they will show better battery life. However, I admit the newer hardware and display are the leading factors for the good results of those ipads.

Defintely the newer ipad pros should win with the M4 and OLED. But you are right. I do believe this test is not as straight forward as it seems. Your question about the batteries is relevant. So is the question about the display brightness. The thumbnail for the video shows all four displays seemingly the same brightness but the actual video does not show the same brightness at all. As a matter of fact you could guess the results just by looking at the brightness of the screens. The video says they have them set at the same brightness but doesn't explain what that means. The ipad pros have much brighter brightness capacity than the others and yet they look darker than the rest. It also seems like they change brightness as if adaptive is on the pros but not the rest. Again, I think the tests would be the same results no matter what. But I don't think it would be as extreme if the battery and brightness issues were properly accounted for.

I’m really not surprised about the iPad Air M2’s battery life being garbage. It seems to me like Apple reused the EXACT same battery in the iPad 10th generation and put it inside the 11inch iPad Air which uses a far more powerful M2 chip, using much more energy which ultimately stresses out that weak battery.

Kinda triggered by the differences across the iPads.. doesn’t make the test very reliable.. different screensavers (lighter colored ones drain more battery). Then the camera test, some of them pick up some light, so the display show some kind of blue, instead of black on the other ones.. what also drains more battery… and that’s about where I lost interest in watching the rest of the video
