No, I’m not connected to SailGP and if you look through my comments I’ve criticized them plenty of times in the past- I don’t like the use of “driver” or “km/s”, I don’t like the low-wind petrostate events, and I think this weekend should have been in Auckland. But when SailGP is at its best, I love it, and today was SailGP at its best.

@Pulsar-m6f10 ай бұрын
Actually, if you notice, Canfield has been doing better than Spithill on the starts. Much better. The problem lays in the first upwind leg in this regatta. For whatever reason he kept going far left and would drop major places every time he did it. Couldn't tell if it was angle, boatspeed, boathandling, but thye'd leave the screen in 3rd or 4th and come back in 7th or 8th or 9th. Guy is a great sailor though. Don't let the frustration with the Spithill era splash over onto this new crew. Give them time to figure it out.

Great race but legit what is up with the graphics? US were listed in first place for a while in the first race even though they were far behind and then not even showing the finish line?? I am watching this hours after the fact so even if it was corrected post broadcast. For trying to introduce sailing to a bigger audience having inconsistent graphics is not helping if anything makes it confusing for new comers.

Lack of VMG continues to hurt the series badly. Your viewers are not stupid, so why treat us like we're dumb? :( You could even have the commentators continuously refer to it as "Velocity Made Good" - you know, to explain the graphical acronym. Once you have heard those three words, you do not need to know any more. It is entirely self-explanatory. Like "Kilometres Per Hour".

Just a branding exercise, most NZ sports teams are "Black ..." The All Blacks have been the national rugby team for over 120 years based on their Black uniform and an error after describing the whole team playing like they are all backs. Other sports have over time followed suit. Cricket - Blackcaps; Basketball - Tall Blacks; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_national_team_nomenclature_based_on_the_%22All_Blacks%22 The unfortunate one was the badminton team.

My understanding is that considerations had to be made because they are conducting a race in a sanctuary for an endangered species. Great course for sailing and spectating, but the understanding was/is that the Hector's Dolphins take priority over racing. I'm sure you understand that the speed and shape of the foils and especially rudder could be very harmful to marine life.
