Yuki needs to show a little more. I'm sure he can do it, he doesn't crash as much these days. The issue I have, is his teammate is terrible. He needs to be beating Ricciardo by a bigger margin. I've never rated Ricciardo. He's average at best. He rose to fame, driving a Newey chassis and beating the most overrated driver in the history of F1, Vettel. You only have to see what Leclerc did to him later at Ferrari to see it's not that difficult. Literally any driver in F1 would have won the title in the Red Bull. Newey makes the best chassis, not only the quickest, but also the easiest to drive. It flatters every driver whose ever driven one of his cars. Capelli, Boutsen, Patrese, Hill, Villeneuve, Raikkonen, Vettel, Ricciardo and Verstappen. Raikkonen's the only driver to have won a race after driving one of Newey's cars. That's quite a telling stat.

Do a quarterly review (every 6 races) and assess how the driver, the car and the team has performed from one quarter to another and comper against your predictions that you posted in February. 2. When doing the qualifying review, can you compare the 2024 time against the 2023 time so that one can get a better idea of how the car has improved when compared to last year and how the team has improved when compared to the other teams.

That is what I have been saying about Yuki! If that was DR, or Alex, people praise them, and if they weren't doing good, they are the ones not on it instead of recognizing how fast Yuki is. If Riccardo was doing a lap at Silverstone close to Max, then Yuki would have even closer no? And please keep Stroll for now! It is making Formula B so amazing! The fight for P10 is incredible. Those bottom teams (except Alpine) is so evenly matched. Haas is doing amazing, even stake (with Bottas), is fighting each race if it wasn't for the pitstops. And having Stroll in the mix with a much faster car makes it better.

Same as Perez last year, the amount of hate he got was incredible to the point that people would deny his achievements in the past few years in a whole. The weirdest thing is people say that Lewis is washed, while refuse to admit that George Russell did well. I just keep getting amazed by how toxic and extreme F1 community can be. I love Yuki. He’s been incredible last year and this year so far (minus some outliers here and there.) But I really don’t want to see him on the 2nd Red Bull seat. I personally believe he would do better in an Aston Martin (replacing Stroll) with less media pressure. He’s not exactly rockstar material like Danny, which Red Bull seems to require of a driver.

And yeah, pitstop strategy depends a lot on how good the car is. If the car is good and does what the drivers ask of it, they can achieve their targets set for a particular strategy and everything kinda works and falls in place. That Leclerc 1 stop shows that the Ferrari SF24 is a much better car and both their drivers know how to make it work.

I admit I wasn't sure about Yuki. The potential was there but it seemed like way more down than ups, too many errors, and I wasn't sure I was seeing any improvement. But that is no longer the case. He's ironed out the errors and has been showing consistent good pace. It feels early but Tommy has a great point, looking back farther it's a good run he's on. Perhaps a corner has been turned. Sadly I just cant see him getting the RB seat but hopefully this season will land him somewhere! It wont be RB but any step up would still be good.

It was an average to boring race. There were a lot of overtakes, but it was due to tyre strategies and it was all about not losing time with the car ahead, other than fun overtakes. But it is true that is better than Schumacher time when no one overtook anyone and there was one pit stop for refuelling
@tripleaaadoublea9 ай бұрын
I understand Carlos with the faster pace and fresher tyres, but realistically unless they were trying for a chance at P2 there was no reason for them to not hold positions. They clearly said that their battle is with Norris behind, which Carlos w fresher tyres could do as well. Even if Norris was struggling, Charles w older tyres and less pace they could have lost P4 but if they held positions they’re more guaranteed P3 P4. Obviously they did end up there but with only a few laps left and Ferrari not looking to fight for P2 I don’t understand why they had to switch positions

I wonder if another reason RB would keep Danny Ric at least until mid season is to continue to develop the car (along with the sponsors)? Not to take anything away from Yuki, because he has been on a worldy, absolutely amazing performances from him, honestly so proud and impressed with him. However it might just be a coincidence, but his performances have started when they brough Danny in to develop the team last season, that was the biggest perk to bringing him in the first place remember. He would be providing some constructive feedback to the engineers to help RB be the best of the rest. In saying that though, I agree with Tommy, if Danny continues with poor performances then it'll be hard seeing him stay past the mid season mark. I think it'll be the turning point between benefits from development feedback and providing points for the constructor championship, as well as reputation for sponsors to back. I'm sure where a team places on the leaderboard has a bit more weight than the marketing a driver can provide, but yeah, mid season would be that tipping point I think. Bloody good stuff Yuki, keep up this form! Danny Ric, please please please start putting in some good performances, it's never nice seeing such a driver retire in this way.
@pacman1p9 ай бұрын
I think Matt is wrong about Ricciardo. It is just about performance at this point. RB are in a situation where a maximised result for them means one or two points at best. And if they don't do that, their competition does. At the end of the season them and Haas might likely be separated by literally singular points. If Ricciardo can't be up there to pick those points up he's just dead weight.
@patricktrakzel96579 ай бұрын
Dani Ric is only of commercial interest. He lost the ability and confidence.

I hear Tommy and Matt blaming Ricciardo for the incident on lap 1, yet don’t forget who was next to him - Stroll, who has a habit of running into other drivers. Plus Albon got a bit too aggressive for the esses on the first lap. Especially since Ricciardo wouldn’t normally be looking in his right mirror going into a left curve. Overtaking is the result of a pace delta. The easiest way to get the largest pace delta is varying tire strategy. Pirelli is just way to conservative with the tires they bring, scared that they’ll blow up and hurt their brand image.

The weird thing about the whole formula a vs formula b is that the field spread is historically small. However, due to superb reliability and the gap in pace being very consistent, it seems like we have this split.

different strategies also implies that people will get it wrong... but that also means that all the teams can get it right and then we are left with the same problem as before.
