Awesome car. The amount of audible warnings in new Kia and Hyundai models would stop me from buying one. Most car manufacturers provide a small visual warning when going over the posted limit. The fact that Kia/Hyundai beep at you every single time and you can't permantnately turn this off, would drive me INSANE. ANCAP only require a visual sign as a warning function for speeding.

I own a Sonata N Line and as much as I love the car and it is a blast to drive the warning system can be really frustrating, the speed warning system beeps at you non-stop until you slow down to within 3km/h of the posted speed limit and the annoying thing is sometimes it warns you for the wrong speed limit, for e.g if you’re on a highway that is 80km/h and there is an exit on the left that is 60km/h the car would think you’re going on the 60km/h road and would start to warn you for over 20 seconds until you pass the road. Another annoying thing is the Driver Lane Assistance, you can turn it off once you turn on the car but again you cannot permanetly turn it off, it defaults back to on everytime you turn off the car and turn it back on, it’s these little nuisances that otherwise ruin an overall fantastic car.

The beeping is definitely more a distraction than a safety precaution. I’m hoping there could be an update where leave the safety systems off even after u turn the car back on, or to at least turn off the beeping sound. I’ve actually mapped the * button into driver assistance so I can turn off the speed assistance every time before I drive somewhere.

It’s refreshing to see your in car footage regarding what you like, and in this case what you don’t like about the vehicle. I’m finding these modern driver (often times very distracting and annoying) saftey systems are sucking enjoyment out of driving. Also, the 0-100 km/h and 1/4 mile times are really good to know.

My friend has a 2023 Seltos GT-Line. He absolutely HATES all the bings and bongs it does. The new Kona was the same when I test drove it. It’s awful. New cars aren’t always all they’re cracked up to be.

Car manufacturers intentionally make the car speedo not to be 100% accurate. That's not about "german precision". Look at the M5 E60, it will show 330km/h and on the GPS it will have like 295, and all bmw fans think a big sedan with only 507hp can have a top speed of a much powerful 911... And that's on factory wheels/tires. Have also seen on AutoTopNL channel a W223 which at ~ 180km/h speedo had 150 GPS.

Yes, all speedos are out on purpose to avoid legal troubles. I meant that German cars are usually just a bit closer that’s all. I wasn’t meaning to suggest this is ‘bad’ or anything - purely just an observation I’ve picked up over the years 👍

Given this EV electricity consumption is still a big problem EV for the highway, plus this car is shaped like a brick which makes it less aerodynamic which could have an even worse impact on its electricity consumption use

I absolutely hate the styling. The front end is boring, but eh... ok... maybe. The rear end is a trainwreck. And the wheels just look goofy. Kia just tries too hard to be "edgy". Too bad... it could've been a decent looking vehicle.
